@@DW-lw3hg the words “wrong” and “opinion” don’t go together as well as you think; his opinion was that leadership isn’t always positive and perfect, and is a “lead by example” thought process, directly talking about a player like Kobe early in his career. He’s right, leadership comes in different forms, any real high level basketball player like him would know. Would you say Jimmy Butler is a leader for the heat? Yes. Is his leadership quality/style the same as a player like Udonis Haslem?

Rashad started by saying “the best player on the team is the leader” but in past episodes before this one he said “KD is the best player in the Warriors but is not the leader.” Some people get blinded in a debate because of their need to be “right”. He literally contradicted what he previously said in this episode. With that being said, this episode was both entertaining and cringey.

True. It’s a nuanced question, and therefore it’s a nuanced answer to what being a leader on an NBA team entails. It would have helped if both Gil and Rashad could have conceded on what is true and factual the discussion would have been better. Gil was not being honest because he kept making wrong and absurd inferences from what Rashad was communicating. Even though Rashad could have also given room for some more nuance in the fact that there are peculiarities to there being a best player and yet that best player isn’t the leader - I will however also agree with Rashad in saying that for the same reason there aren’t multiple captains on a ship, so also there aren’t many leaders on an NBA team on the floor. As for Miko, she’s just a piss poor communicator and fails to reason logically. Not worth debating her.

There’s no nuance, the leader of the team is the leader. The president is the president, other people can invoke their “leadership” in moments. The leader is the leader, and to Rashad’s point, when the leader has spoken, that’s it. We are following that guys lead, not following all the leaders.

I think Miko was spot on. They would've done better to first define what exactly a leader is and what attributes make them a leader. A leader typically motivates, influences, provides guidance and can resolve problems. You don't have to be the best player on the team to do that. Prime example is when Durant was with the Warriors. He was the best player but Steph was the leader.

Also, Rashad clearly didn’t show professionalism and maturity after the dispute by shutting down and invalidating what Miko said after. 2. the funniest/greatest thing about this argument is Gil’s humility. He the greatest one in this panel. most qualification to speak on the matter yet he chose to humbly listen, enjoy, and move on with the matter. based on the stories he been telling, he done matured so much that he’s not hungry to join in and flex but rather let his friends speak they mind and enjoyed the show like we do. my mans Agent 0. 😂😂🎉🎉

Knowing how to lead, not leading and people still looking at you as the leader are three different viewpoints. You can be a bad leader, but if the games on the line, who is everyone looking towards? Who is the media interviewing and holding the most weight of their opinion? The best player is considered the leader.

This is the most embarrassing Rashad segment. Gil brought out the plastic cups because Rashad couldn't comprehend the concept of leadership without a visual example/explanation. Really drives home how athletics completely overshadow basic necessary skills that academia fails to provide. The man is violently daft and aggressively base.

The role of a leader is determined by your level of respect no one follows someone they don’t respect no matter how talented you are

this is true and usually in sports better yet team sport the best guy on the team will get that respect because the guys around him or her understand what it means to be very good at that said sport if we are down by 2 with 3 secs to go im not looking for haslim to "lead' us to victory im looking for the best guy we have available to bring us home and in team sports thats your leader becuase you go as they go your following them

Gilbert is actually the perfect example of how the best player on a team doesn't mean he's the only leader of the team, so Rashad is wrong there. However, Gil was one of leaders on the Wizards because all the young guys followed and wanted to be like him.

I can see a point for both sides but rashads point is stronger… there can be a guy who rallies the troops who people can get energized by and learn from… but at the end of the day there is only one Julius Cesar who everyone will listen to and drop everything that someone else said…so ultimately there’s only one leader…
