Soul calibur was awesome and was the game I chose to buy with my Dreamcast back in early 2000. Happy days! ❤

Some of my personal Dreamcast moments: My best friend saved up for a Dreamcast for the European launch, but on 14-10 it was nowhere to be found in are mid sized city of Hoorn, having to travel to Amsterdam instead. Forshadowing how SEGA would treat our country with the Dreamcast. When we started playing Sonic Adventure, however, we were totally amazed. It was so much better than anything we played on PlayStation. I decided then and there, that I would safe up for a Dreamcast myself. Buying one in early 2000 with Re-Volt, Sould Reaver and House of the Dead 2. There was a very active SEGA forum in The Netherlands, which was great. There were yearly SEGA events, were we played and bought games. I even have multiple friends from that time. Another memory is of me completing my Christmas bonus run on my paper round, collecting over 400 guilders in loose change (about 200€). All coins, most no bigger than 25 cents or so. I went to Amsterdam to Fame Music and bought Shenmue, Ecco and a shock pack, with a Dreamkey 2.0 (finally allowing people in The Netherlands to go online too) with all that change. The guy behind the counter was shocked and had to count all those coins. I put them into four plastic bags of 100 guilders each. He decided that he would count up one, and if it matched, he would believe on the rest. Final memory for now: in school, more and more people bought the Dreamcast, seeing in person how great it was, even after its discontinuation. We played online on PSO a lot. When PSP V2 was finally released in Europe, almost as a last hurrah, we all wanted it. I called some stores on release day, but only got a positive answer from a shop in Utrecht. This was train ride of over an hour to and back, but I decided to go anyway. I came there and asked for five copies for me and my friends. The clerc was so surprised, selling five copies of a just released Dreamcast games in 2002. I even managed to get a 10% discount.

Jetset Radio will always be one of the most iconic games for me on dreamcast, that crazytaxi and soul calibre are the three i played the most back in the day. But i love jetset, it was like nothing id ever seen before and the graphics and game play blew me away

The opening to Shenmue is so badass. Lan Di roundhouse kicks Iwao, says *"Do you remember Zhao Sun Ming? That's the name of the man you killed in Meng Cun."* glares at him, then goes *"Get up.. I'll allow you to die like a warrior.."* and kills him with the Dim Mak! So badass 😂

What a list. Looking forward to part 2. One of my highlights not yet mentioned was definitely Ikaruga. The music. Graphics. Challenge. It really felt special

Cracking video, so well done. My first memory of Dreamcast is seeing Sonic Adventure running in an import shop. It blew me away. From that moment, I was counting down the days until the UK release, to be honest, the Dreamcast was the last big jump visually, I was never blown away like that again.

Some.utterly fantastic choices James. Shenmue blew me away from the minute I played it (sometime around or just after PAL release) and I thought it was probably the bestest thing I'd ever conceived. Not sure if I played RECV on DC (sure I did) but I played it more on PS2 as I later owned that. Soul Calibur was very like Shenmue to me. Phenomenal game and I thought it was the bestest looking game I had ever perceived! Still a solid fighting game. JSR was unique. I still enjoy playing it every so often (though wasn't Gum the leader of the GGs, Beat joining was literally the tutorial?) CT and Rez are both excellent games. I've only played the DC version of Rez so I can't compare it to other versions.

Two Dreamcast memories stand out for me above all others. The first being the first time that I ever played the console back in Nov of 1999 at my friend's house. Game was NBA 2K, I was playing Live 99 on PSX at the time. Holy smokes!!! 2K beat the brakes off of Live 99 and the gfx omg. Second memory being first time ever seeing Sonic Adventure. More specifically it was playing the demo level and seeing the whale for the first time. My 9 yr old mind couldn't believe what was going on.
