Federal Donut (www.federaldonuts.com) - We got the coffee. We got the donuts, but I'm a little disappointed we didn't try the chicken. Really it was just so early in the morning and we weren't quite hungry yet to go all in with the chicken. Having said that, the wonderful people at Federal Donuts supplied us with way more donuts than we can eat. We mentioned we're not sponsored, but we can always work for good food. (Give us a call Federal Donuts. Let's talk!) There are 7 locations throughout the city, and an 8th location just outside the city. Definitely recommend this one for your donut choice.
Sabrina's Cafe (www.sabrinascafe.com) - Speaking of breakfast, Sabrina's is also a breakfast and brunch spot with a number of restaurants through the city and I got to say this is one of the best breakfast shops we're been too. Love the vibe here too. The location at Drexel University looks like something out of a fairy tale!
Miles Table & Catering (www.milestable.com) - Here's another breakfast and brunch spot we found on our travel (Seeing a theme yet?).
Miles Table is a really neighborhood friendly restaurant and they bride themselves on that. They also cater!
Ishkabibbles II (www.eatishkabibbles.com) - Now to the important part, the cheesesteaks. We really didn't want to spend much time in Philly (or in these comments for that matter) debating which cheese steak spot was the best in Philly. Instead we created a short list of the most recommended spots and went to the location we found ourselves closest to when we were hungry. Ishkabibbles did not disappoint. Really, it's been so long since I had a good Philly cheesesteak loaded whizwit style that I would have loved anywhere we went.
Pat's King of Steaks (www.patskingofsteaks.com) claims to be the inventor and the originator of the steak sandwich. Geno's Steaks (www.genosteaks.com) claims to be the first to add cheese. Both these locations are regarded as the original cheesesteak restaurants in Philly, and as such they are heavily visited. Visit if you want a couple of tourist spots with a lot of history, or simply grab a sandwich from each to compare. At any rate, most will agree that there are better cheesesteaks to be found throughout the city with way less traffic.
The Reading Terminal Market (readingterminalmarket.org) - This is one of America's oldest public markets. If you need a place to start on your hunt for good food, Reading Market isn't a bad place to begin. You can find it all here! Great desserts, awesome looking diners, soft pretzels, and perhaps most importantly roast pork sandwiches.
Most people know that Philly is known for the Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies, but the roast pork sandwich is also a stable of any restaurant in the city and DiNics (www.tommydinics.com) is one of the best spots to get roast pork in the city.

I'm 56 & a lifelong resident of Phila/South Jersey. Federal Donuts is amazing, Reading Terminal Market is a national treasure, love how he said "wooder ice". Pat's and Geno's blow, but open 24/7 365 to soak up booze. Ralph's is good, but Marra's & Villa de Roma are much better. No frills, locals know the best. John's Roast Pork on Wccacoe St has the best roast pork & cheesesteaks

Mama's Pizzaria. Best Cheesesteaks. Like, they can't even sell pizzas anymore because no one was ordering them anymore. It's all about the steaks. The rolls are made special for them and no one else. The rolls are like bagels on the outside and a nice soft bread on the inside. They don't get all soggy and fall apart. The place is just outside the city and it's where tons of locals go for the real deal.

yup! makes perfect sense. Thanks for this btw. We tend look for places with a lot of history, and we're learning to move away from that. The historic spots tend to not live up to the hype.

They were so cool. We've never been the types to go out of our way for free stuff, but definitely not going to turn down such a gesture. And it's a big chain in Philly so it's not like they were looking for exposure or anything (not like we have any to give either). They were generally just really chill. So I, Tony, am from Maryland so we had Rita's all the time. I thought it was common. It's basically Italian shaved ice
@Explorcation
@Explorcation 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDetourDuo awww that makes it even better that they gave you the free donuts, and hey don't downplay your potential exposure, you two create excellent videos - ya never know which one might blow up ;) Maybe the water ice is more common then we think, we are both from the MIdwest and have little experience visiting the Northeast :)

If you try the chicken sandwich let us know how it was. It looked really good, but we were completely full from the extra donuts. Really can't go wrong in Philly for cheese steak. It's mostly just personal preference and bias. I can't say that I've ever had one I didn't like in the city yet.
