This looks like it could of been a perfect sequel to the Super Mario Bros movie. Humans and dinosaurs would have to learn to co-exist, some humans don't trust dinosaurs, etc. Both movies seem to have that "cyber-junk" feel, where stuff is futuristic, but people live in a garbage dump at the same time.

This was clearly made for little kids, as demonstrated by the garish color palette, the fact that Theodore Rex acts like a child with ADHD, the sophomoric humor, the fact that the plot is complete nonsense, and the frantic, relentless noisiness. Constant noise and hyperkinetic activity was pretty much a hallmark of '90s kids' movies, because the producers were afraid that since kids have short attention spans, if there was ever a moment when something wasn't happening, they'd get bored and tune out, so we have to have something happening every second to keep them engaged. Meanwhile, as Alison points out, any adults watching would tune out because it quickly just becomes exhausting to watch.

Hmm... it's a buddy cop movie that forewent a theatrical release, with a contemporary(...ish) urban setting that features sapient fantasy creatures, stars a notable minority actor in the declining portion of their career as the main human character, and has an extremely muddled racism metaphor. For real. I feel like this could have been really awesome if they'd kept it more focused on the "buddy cop with dinosaur" idea and cut out all the bullshit. Especially for someone like myself who adores pretty much all things dinosaurs, this could have been really enjoyable. I'm disappointed by the wasted potential. So often movie creators have interesting premises but completely fuck it all up, and it's so frustrating.

It'd be cool if they'd done it in a more film noir, dark humor type way, like Avenue Q or HappyTime Murders. Imagine it. Theodore Rex is a a gruff depressed detective sitting at his desk smoking too many cigarettes and wondering if its worth living in this city. No matter how hard he's tried to make a difference to the dinosaur community, the human cops have just kept slapping him down Now he's thinking that all he needs is one last case to make money to bust this joint, and out of nowhere, Whoopi Goldberg walks into his office like a seductress, she walks up to him, takes the cigarrette from his mouth and says "Born ham, that is basically me"

Theodore is (in his own stupid words) "a recovering carnivore." So I guess meat is like a drug to Dinassholes in this universe? Also I guess he won't just get sick like what would normally happen if you made a creature with a primarily meat-based diet (which was also supposedly cannibalistic) cut it out completely. Look at me trying to find logic in this piece of garbage, pathetic.

One of those thins was this stop motion movie on TNT back in 1994. I've searched every single stop motion animation from around that time and have found nothing. All I remember is that it involved an ice sword activated by touching the sword with the crystal. It had somewhat of an Aladdin, Arabic setting but that's all I've got. If anything it kind of reminded me of Secret of Mana on the SNES.

So is the bizarre green screen on Alison's top around 11:10 just thrown in to see if we would notice or???

They could have done a whole movie where we see dinosaur people and the culture come to be. That would have been neat. But we gets this because Lucifer is real and wants us to suffer.

Watching your glorious 90s intro in 720 HD is weirdly surreal lol. My brain tells me there should be so much 90s SD blurriness. It's just too perfectly 90s.

i read the something awful thread on the making of this film. holy shit it reads like the making of a to-Don't list when making a film, this was all supposed to be played straight, it wasnt meant to be a kids movie and then too many changes made it this lol

Tareltonlives right, my favorite bit is the sudden change and all that money spent on updating the costume of a character that wasnt supposed to be center stage and money spent on the tonal shift but not wanting to spend money on reshoots of earlier work

I _sort of_ remember seeing this...? I was a little too old for it at the time, but I remember my little brother watching the HELL out of it. I sat through five minutes myself, and couldn't take any more. Seeing it now is almost like a flashback, recognizing the imagery here and there, much like a bad dream you (thankfully) can't quite completely remember.

17:43 I didn't get that they were toys. I thought it was like Bladerunner. The dinosaurs were the replicants. The butterfly was like the snake, and the detective found a little bit of it and had to track down who made it. And the puppet man was like one of the mini-replicants that J. F. Sebastian made.

The number of *BZZZT!*s gets funnier when you remember that this video is a product of two people who have spent five-ten years being professional movie watchers, and yet this movie is so bad that even people whose literal job is "Watch and understand this film/television show" can't get it all right.
