I think Imu won that hat in a Davy back fight. Davy being a giant whale that Joy Boy used as a ship, and his back being the battlefield. How? Sea powers, kinda cheats against fruit users. I think Davy is sleeping under Long Ring Long Island, and the island is a crown Joy Boy stretched out of the land on it's head, making his ship the king of the sea, and causing Imu to take offense at the gesture, challenging him, winning, and putting Davy to sleep with the sea powers. For me, I always thought of Im's name as being a reference to the english translation of the Hebrew phrase "I Am the I Am”, which if I remember correctly, was used by God to identify himself. There is a school of thought that states everyone is their own God, because of this verse, “for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21). So what if Im has a godly power because they are the only one that knows how to use it, rather than something they were born with or given by a devil fruit. If Im was to be revealed to the world everyone would know about this power.Everyone would realize they are all gods or at least have the potential to have the same power as IM, making Im no longer unique and powerful. I have an idea. Technically Blackbeard would also represent fear. Luffy and Vivi would be Hope. That is 2 to 1 and to maintain balance, it would have to be 2 to 2. There's a lot of fruits with a strong and weak version of basically the same thing, wouldn't it be interesting if Im and Luffy have essentially the same power just at different levels of magnitude? Both combos could be fun too, where Im's is the strong one and Luffy's is the weak one or visa versa. Though Luffy's model nika being the weak one might explain why Joyboy lost in the first place and also keep Luffy the underdog we're all rooting for despite how OP he's been getting, so that when he wins it's not because of the fruit itself, it's all him and his determination. If you want to look at physical similarities not just conceptual ones, freedom seems to result in folks being all stretched out if you look at both Luffy and Long Ring Long Land, and Im is really stretched out and long looking too. Plus if I'm remembering correctly when he's in Gear 5th Luffy has red eyes just like Im does. Definitely lots to think about, and I for one love the idea of the battle to rule the world being literally the fight for the throne of the Imagine Nation between two devil fruit users with the same power but opposite goals.

イマジネーション is actually one of the ways you can say imagination in Japanese (it's a loan word) and is written with the katakana for imagination. It uses katakana for Ma and not Mu and is not written both ways, so you would think if Imu was intended to read as imagination (or part of that word) it would be イマ instead of イム. 想像 (souzou) is probably the most common way of saying imagination so イム doesn't fit well with that either. Can't wait for the explanation in a future video.

yeah what I put in the description was that more or less the letters I and M might be the important take aways. I tried to put the asterisks there to annotate exactly what you put down. and the reason I figure he would opt for the katakana then using the kanji is to be able to pull of the pun on Im the nation which wudnt be possible with (souzou) but yeah also the Mu part might be important in it's own way which for the sake of the pun would be interesting if this was the reason. but essentially alot of people say imu is umi for the sea. which is essentially a similar thing taking the katakana translating the syllables then reversing the word in English and deriving a japanese meaning from that. imo is more convoluted than what I am proposing in this video. but also again for him to execute the pun specially Mu might be the important thing that actually still connects back to the ocean and possible the planet stuff if I remember correctly
