Dude bringing your own fold up fire pit has been a game changer. Thanks for the suggestion!

We have got our fire extinguisher mounted on our truck rack as well.

Those 5lb fire extinguishers will last maybe 8-20 seconds. I carry an Element E 100 which has 100 seconds of use. In fact, I'm in the process of doubling up, so I have 2 Element E100s. Light weight, compact, no residue, nothing that needs to stay pressure charged, good for years. Will fight all major fire classes A, B, C, and K. The Element E50 I gave my son helped save his Jeep from being totaled due to fire, as well as, the quick and excellent assistance of the AZ Highway Patrol (Thanks again).

Kudos to you for having some type of fire protection in your vehicle. However, at H3R Performance, we strongly believe in the importance of having a UL listed fire extinguisher - whether it is ours or another brand. Only then will you be able to compare the relative effectiveness of one fire extinguisher with another. This is one reason why most states require that fire extinguishers be UL listed. Regarding discharge times, 8 to 20 seconds may not sound significant, but UL listed fire extinguishers are optimized to fight a specific type and size of fire. The type and amount of agent, discharge time, discharge rate, and discharge range all go into the equation. Discharge time is only one element, and a longer discharge time is not necessarily a good thing. For example, it is easy to increase the discharge time of a traditional UL listed fire extinguisher. Simply lower the operating pressure. But that would not be optimal. The same amount of agent would exit the nozzle, but the discharge distance would not be as far (meaning you would have to stand closer to the fire), and it would take longer to empty the contents on the fire. Few would argue that it is good to need to stand closer to a fire for a longer period of time.

I was there for moab fire. My motorhome was parked at lone mesa campground off hwy 313. The horrible winds that you captured in your white rim video… it was rocking my motorhome like craaaaazy. Smoke that overtook moab was an issue. I was in moab may 14-june15.

Douse, stir thoroughly, then douse some more. Granted that will be tough to do if you do not have water to do so, but it is the method I grew up on.

Great video Matt. So sad to see the devastation that’s taken place over the last two years. Especially in Colorado. I’ve got one mounted in my car and also the plane. Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and the family.

Keep stuff like this coming Matt. I ordered 2 B C from H3R after your video as I want the best for my truck if there is a fire. For all others in class A I use the Element E50. Cheers

Summer here in Australia now. Very strict fire restrictions over here now. No campfires allowed at all now. Cooking can't be done in a bbq with wood or cole. If there's a complete fire ban, they usually come with vehicle movement restrictions too. If that's the case, we can't go wheeling, no off roading at all. Harvesting will be stopped.

In Colorado, and possibly other western states, when a fire ban is in effect you can only use a device that you can shut off the fuel supply, such as a propane BBQ, or fire pits, things like that. In addition to the fire extinguisher, and I'd bet you have one on the rig, another thing to carry is a shovel. Until next time... Travel safe.
