For future reference, the rain driving mode still works with the whipple tune and decreases throttle input by a good amount.

That’s unfortunate, but on these cars suspension is one of the most important things to do. Should’ve done that before the blower, guys go for power first but they should go for suspension and grip first. One of the first things I did on mine was suspension. At least you know now for future reference, and you have a decent platform so others who are taking their first shot at a decent amount of power know what to do differently.

High horsepower rear wheel drive cars require common sense. They can have hugh issues on rainy or damp roads. The tires you were running are soft rubber with a short life from burnouts and tracking. It sounds like you were lighting them up reducing the tread. I own a built Chrysler 300C Hemi that only gets ripped as you call it at the dragstrip. Last Saturday a Challenger Hellcat who launched as i was staging lost control and put it in the wall when he lost traction. Fast cars can be a handful even at the dragstrip using drag radials. Even using newer street tires and driving normal on the street can be a hand full in the rain or hot blacktop roads. Sounds like you learned an expensive lesson but use that power at the dragstrip. Great to hear you walked away without injuries. Sounds like your building a beast, so be safe moving forward.

Tires are key. Bad tires will always let you down. Almost killed myself in my Corvette by hydroplaning just doing 50 mph in the rain. Had Michelin cup 2s. Was getting passed by everyone staying in the right lane but hit a section of 6” deep water and slid across four lanes causing a scary moment for everyone. I didn’t wreck but changed out my tires the next day. 15 years earlier same thing in a Porsche 911 and hydroplaned and crashed big time. $14K damage to that car but had not much tread on the tires in the rain. Just stupid being young trying to save money. It took two times before I wised up. Be very careful with powerful cars and not watching your tread wear!!! I have friends that have experienced awful car accidents due to tires not safe for conditions. Plus you get a ticket even if you are hurt‼️

Good for you @TobyVegaD a little self-introspective thought is a good thing in a younger man. I have been where you are. Whether it be a GSXR 1100 or 1980 z28 Camaro with nitrous and a 355. The important part is you learned your lesson and you live to tell the tale. When you say stock suspension you're half kidding right? I swear your car looks lowered because your rims and tires are almost flush with your wheel wells and mine does not sit that way at all. Not yet anyway. After the Steeda suspension in a couple weeks we'll see.

1st) Everyone beats on their car lighting up the tires and never change them on their daily driver. 2) Guys ride on full summer only tires in the cold/rain, that have no tread pattern to disperse water or that become absolute bricks in the cold. Your cool 80degree R888Rs DO have downsides. 3) Flooring it without being straighted out first. 4) Buying improper tires. Nobody should be buying Nitto G2s over 400hp (for anybody reading) And after a certain hp, idc if you have R888Rs, street tires DONT work, you NEED drag radials. 5) Not thinking in general. When guys head out to go race AFTER their car has been sitting at the meet for 1hr+ and they just run out and stomp on the gas....tires need heat in them before anything. 6) Just slow down. If it's raining, think about what tires you're running, what lane you're in because it could hold more water than others and type of surface you're on and slow down. Glad you're good though, we've all had our scares and don't think about the little things sometimes. I know i've had my moments. Stay safe man!

Lol age doesn’t apply to ability to build a car. He just made a few mistakes, but he lived and he learned. Some people either prevent this stuff by doing other mods first or they end up learning from experience why they should’ve done the other mods. That being said I scratch my head when people really try to bring age into the mix 😂. You can be 45 and incompetent and you can be 17 and know what you’re doing. The age argument isn’t a good one because it’s different for each person regardless of age.
