keys to maximize transitions: 1. 0:38 PASS THE BALL: the ball will always move faster on passes than on dribbles 2. 1:52 LOOK AHEAD as soon as we secure the ball 3. 3:43 All the players should ANTICIPATE THE FAST BREAK 4. 4:42 (Wings) GET WIDE to stretch the defense THANKS FOR SHARING SUCH GREAT CONTENT👍

What do you think about coaches teaching their players to go to specific spots in transition vs teaching them general transition principles ?
@TheFilmRoom1Күн бұрын
I’m not a fan of that type of teaching. Offensive transition has such a small margin for success, and if your players are trying to run to a specific spot & they’re not starting in an ideal place (which will happen all the time because defense is random) they’re going to be slow getting to that spot. I believe teaching everyone who’s not a 5-man to get width on whatever side you’re on and either run to the rim if you have a layup, or sprint corner (or wing if someone is ahead of you) & teaching your 5-man to rim run or trail at the top of the key is the best way to teach it.

Wish I could have gotten this video to you before your game, but I’m glad you were able to send this to your team. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help.

I think the first few seconds are the most important. By having every player focus on sprinting with full intensity for the first three seconds, you already create an advantage. This is the key for me-passing comes naturally after this. Without the mindset of the first three seconds, there will never be passing opportunities for the team.

Would also like to add, the dribbler when inside the arc should make the defender commit to him before dumping it off to a wing. Usually can tell by the direction of their hips. Once I learned that, I became a lot more effective in the fast break.

If they’re ahead of the ball, I teach running to the rim. If they’re beside or behind the ball, I teach trailing the ball handler and stopping in between the slots.

What are some drills to practice this with my team?
@TheFilmRoom1Күн бұрын
I really like the advantage transition drill where you line 5 guys across the FT line and 5 guys across the baseline. Throw the ball to someone on the baseline & either call out a name of one of the defenders, or have the defender across from the player who caught the ball run and touch the baseline before getting back. It creates a natural 5v4 advantage (and you can do this 4v3 or 3v2 as One drill to work on anticipating the fast break is have a 5 on 5 scenario where the offense can do anything they want in the half-court except shoot. At random, blow the whistle and as soon as it’s blown the offense is now on defense and the defense is now on offense. Have the player with the ball set it down as soon as they hear the whistle and let the possession play out.

First of all, thanks for this video and for everything that I learn here in this channel I'd really like to get the Turkish league pass because im a young coach from Brazil, who is trying to get to the next level and learn how to change lives with the sport that I love. And one of the ways is watching A LOT of basketball, like euroleague, NBB (Brazilian league), NBA, college etc but it's not easy to pay for every league around the world 😂 In my country we don't have a lot of channels to learn basketball, so it's a blessing to have yours and many other that I'm using to grow in this area, so THANK YOU Now can you make a video about how to be a good defensive transition team? 😅
