Great use of actual play for illustration. Thanks!

The tight head prop is the most important position in rugby. Yet in 15 years, the IRB has only ever nominated one prop as a finalist for IRB player of the year. For shame.

Every tight head prop in part 1 was binding on the opposition loosies arm which is a penalty offence. Of course the ref is always on the other side, even on the rare occasions a ref might be prepared to actually officiate that rule.

As a former tight head, of course tight head is the most important position. Nothing happens for a team if you don't have a solid scrum. The scrum can never be solid without a good tight head. It's about upper body strength and technique, not weight.

I know this question might seem a little out of place. I am currently 14, I weigh around 84 kilograms, I am 176 cm's tall, I play Inside centre, I want to know how to lose fat, not weight, but fat? Can anyone tell me how?

***** Thanks, I will try to remove a lot of sweets and candies, like chips and jellies etc. What exercise would you recommend I do? Like Cardio, Jogging etc.? My weight in Pounds is 185

It's uncommon for people at your age to be doing weight lifting so the best exercise you can do to boost your rugby fitness and burn calories for weight loss is cardio. Basically jogging and sprinting, but you might prefer jogging - it tends to be more popular. Eat less crappy food, exercise more and you'll lose weight. Know that you are genetically predisposed to having a certain body fat %, so you might not be able to lose loads of weight without training intensely. Depends on how much your body composition is attributable to your genetics and how much to your diet/activity levels. Realistically, the best thing for you to do is make simple changes over time and see what happens. You said you want to "lose fat, not weight". Forget this - you aren't going to get lean while staying at 84kg. Be prepared to lose some weight, it'll be good for you. You'll get heavier as you get older anyway; you've still got a lot of growing to do. Hope this helps

Yeah Man, as of now, or yesterday when you are reading this, I have started a Body weight exercise routine, consisting of Calisthenic type stuff, like Push-ups, and Pull ups mostly. I am definitely making a change in my diet, I have stopped eating junk food, well, for the most part anyways, I am focusing mostly on real foods, and whole foods, not processed crap.

can the props and flankers change sides in the scrum? if they do, when and why?
@Fudgeis13377 жыл бұрын
At professional level, props tend to pick a side and stick with it, but a few players are capable of playing either to a good standard. Flankers are less crucial, some teams will use the quicker of the two players on the openside of the scrum, as they can cover more ground, or I guess you could balance your scrum weights more evenly by adding a larger flanker to the side with the lighter prop/lock. At lower levels, props will often be able to play both and just pick one side out of personal preference, and flankers aren't strictly tied to a side of the scrum, it will depend on the team and the situation

I played rugby since I was in primary school. 40 years on and I still don't understand how they referee scrums. This clip didn't help either.
