my personal most important is SMT 3. When I was around 4 or 5 I watched my cousin play Nocturne when it first came out and years later when I was around 14 I only had memories of this game with the dope footstep sounds in the train station not even remembering it was turn based or had demonic creatures. I searched for it online just based off description and somehow found it. Then I bought the game for my old ps2 and the aesthetic made me fall in love w/ SMT. I also realized it was connected to my favorite game ever - Devil Survivor (Overclocked) and another game I'd heard a lot about online - Persona 4.

SMT/Persona was always about high-schoolers fighting demons in either ruined or about to be ruined worlds. Hell the series literally started with an edgy high-schooler fixing his self created demon invasion to save his waifu.

Nice video. It really helped put things into perspective for me. For me, at least persona 1 and devil survivor 1 are my most important megaten games as they were the first games that helped me be acquainted with the franchise and have gone on to be my favorite rpg franchise of all time.

Soul Hackers on the 3ds was my intro to SMT so that has some personal importance 😅 I find 5 has really smooth gameplay and Strange Journey’s atmosphere/tone were really cool.

i feel like there are several games that could be considered the most important MT1 (the very beginning) MT2 (foundation of the tropes found in smt) SMT (start of the main series) P1 (first atlus rpg to make it overseas and the start of its most popular series) SMT III (started a lot of the tropes that we see today, such as fully 3d graphics and the press turn system) P3 (where modern persona got its identity) SMT IV (a culmination of everything new and old from the franchise and is generally the most beloved title) P5 (best selling title)

I feel this video doesn't go in-depth enough on how SMT: IF... Influenced the devil summoner and persona games, as well, you mistakenly said that IF... Directly was the cause for the creation of Persona, while that is partially the case, Persona 1 is also heavily inspired by the ideas tested in Devil Summoner 1, hence the even further grid based combat. There are even references to Devil Summoner 1 in Persona 1 and 2. This video is very shallow I feel, sorry.

Don’t know why KZbin filtered this comment but it’s a very valid point! My video is shallow because this is all that’s actually been confirmed that is in English about the titles. ATLUS staff have admitted to everything I’ve stated in the video and I just didn’t want to put any theories in it if I can recall correctly. Thanks for giving feedback though!
