While i totally agree on most of the list, i am really surprised about the nose of the sphynx being only B tier. I've had games where it saved tcs from falling (420 hp is A LOT), and late game it makes all your buildings feel indestructible. You basically become hades, at the cost having a hero to walk for a bit to grab it. I would have put it to A tier when considering classical and heroic age situations, and S in super late game.

Great timing! Well done! Just some small corrections for anyone interested: Bast's Sacred Cats (+10% Laborer farm gather rate) works with Plow (+10% Villager farm gather rate, except +22% for Eggy Laborer), the excel guy just forgot to test it. It's just harder to see because it is a "half" upgrade. Blue Crystal Shard (+5% Villager gold and wood gather rate) rules in short... Greek: Only boost for ShaftMine. Eggy: Delay Handaxe/ShaftMine. Dwarves: Irrelevant for gold; boosts all dwarves on wood except Thor Dwarf with no/Handaxe. Atty: Always good. This relic is only SITUATIONAL, so not that good. Harmonian's Necklace (+10% Villager gold gather rate) rules in short... Greek: Always good. Eggy: Always good, now rush Quarry. Norse: Always good. Atty: Always good. This relic is ALWAYS good, thus S tier. Staff of Dionysus (+20 Villager food carrying capacity) is not worth in the earlygame because your vils drop off resources too infrequently for constant production. It is a nice lategame boost for farms, though. Trojan Gate Hinge (+20% Wall Hitpoints): Indeed not that great with regular walls. But it is a percentage increase, so it scales immensely with your lategame wall upgrades. Scales of Catoblepas (-20% Myth Unit crush vulnerability) has a niche just like Boots of Kick Everything: In a titan vs titan fight, the one with relic wins with 1000/7000 HP remaining! Also makes myth units and siege weapons less effective against the Titan.

Agree with everything here. I never knew about Trojan Gate Hinge and never thought about Scales of Catoblepas in Titan fights.

Fun fact, in the fiesta AoM there was a relic, Reed of Nekhbet, which doubled the dmg of water myth units, that the developers exculded in the titans bc they think it was too op

Yeah, even in the campaign it's only available in one mission. Don't remember which one, I just know it was in the Egyptian portion.

Shingles of steel, house HP, has to be one of the highest in alot of situations. It gives your house like extra 1,000 HP. Basically stops EQ on your base and tornado. Stops a rush and raids. Most civs with this relic are scary but trying to penetrate eggy base with this relic and houses around towers seems like it would be impossible. I reckon it shifts the balance in a game for sure.
@Leinadarcher2 жыл бұрын
Whenever my opponent captures Shingles of Steel, Pygmalion's Statue, and/or Tusk of the Iron Boar, it instantly demoralises me and feels like the opponent becomes immune to certain strategies. My favourite relic is definitely the 'Pelt of Argus' one - 6+ LOS for all units has always helped me similarly to an S tier relic.

Harmonia's necklace for Greek gives a 20% increase to gather rate with no upgrades, Egyptian gets an instant 16.67% increase, Norse Dwarves benefit 14.29%, and Atlantean gets a straight up 10% increase. I think this relic is easily at least mid S tier. Staff of Dionysus sucks because it makes your villagers drop off too infrequently causing you to constantly need to force drop to continue military and villager production. D tier, I purposefully never want to get this relic even if a teammate drops it in my temple. Bridle of Pegasus I would say is mid B tier. I really like being able to have a scout to just hover over key locations where the enemy will do something in the future and I would like to know exactly when. It also comes in handy when placing certain god powers since it can fly over everything. Who cares about 1 pop when info can literally win games by itself. Nose of the Sphinx I would put at least in mid A tier. It's just super useful in holding any type of push or any late game building spam situation.

You are so wrong about the staff. Microing villagers in the first minutes of the game is required anyway if you want to get to a good rating, and late game the infrequency doesn't matter as you have a lot of villagers. The buff it gives to your economy is too great to let it stay on the ground, or in your opponent's temple. But i understand that if you just want a chill and relaxing game, to play without doing micro etc it can be reasonable to choose to avoid it.
@victorgg41702 жыл бұрын
@@AutomatonAoM Late game is probably only like a 2% increase. Early-mid game having to use extra apm for maybe 10% efficiency is incredibly costly when you could be getting a lot more value with your army. Every time you have to move to a new hunt or send new villagers to food, they will take longer to give any initial resources to get army or upgrades. Force dropping food is not something that players do all the time. It is only for a few timings depending on the god you are using. The main examples that come to mind are going up to the next age, affording your first few hersir, or in the archaic age affording villagers. These are all situations where you usually aren't needing to micro army or anything else.

I know i'm almost a year late to criticise you, but here i go. First: you should know or have written all of the relic effects AND say them to us. I played this game more than 15 years ago by now and can't remember much about it. I also didn't play the chinese expansion, just the titans one. Second: Do not assume we know everything in the game, a lot of terms and names of units that you used i'm not familiar with. Third: Thanks for the video.

not bad, but i've unironically won games from Gaia's book before as Egypt. Spewing out axemen in massive kamikaze-waves, the sole purpose to get the titans health lower than MY titans health. once there's a difference of at least 500 hp i send mine in and every time so far, end up winning the match. it might not work so well in the remake coming out since apparently we can re-make our titans every 10 minutes. im excited to see your tier lists of the remake, how the changes have pushed these units up or down the lists. maybe the microsoft team actually balanced the game and gets rid of D tier entirely, lol

Highly agree with most of the list but i definetly disagree about shingles of steel or nose of the sphinx. My argument being that getting this relic basically means that certain strategies are completely unviable. imagine for example baiting someone into going EQ by not getting the relic until they hit mythic and immediatly grabbing it before they EQ rendering their entire all out basically useless.

Your analysis of the Armor of Achilles is flawed. Since armor in AoM works by percentages (i.e. reducing vulnerability), the higher armor you have, the MORE you benefit from further increases. You should think of it in reverse. For instance, 99% armor is twice as effective as 98% armor, because you have 1% vulnerability compared to 2% vulnerability. Here is a quick example, assuming 10 damage. A unit with 100 HP and 10% armor will die to 11,11 attacks. With 20% armor you need 12,5 attacks (+1,4 attacks required compared to 10%) With 30% armor you need 14,3 attacks (+1,8 attacks required compared to 20%) With 40% armor you need 16,6 attacks (+2,3 attacks required compared to 30%) With 50% armor you need 20 attacks (+3,4 attacks required compared to 40%) With 60% armor you need 25 attacks (+5 attacks required compared to 50%) See how the relative durability boost of the unit increases with each increment (+1,4; +1,8; +2,3; +3,4; +5)? The higher your armor, the greater the effect of an additional boost. So going by your argument that infantry already have high hack armor, then the benefit from getting better hack armor is actually making a bigger difference compared to if infantry had low hack armor. Any civ that already has bonuses to hack armor (e.g. Thor) would benefit even further.
