A lot of artistry type channels show us the awesome skills of the channel’s creator, with time lapses of stunning artworks being created in what seems to be an effortless way, while a pleasant monologue gently tells us about the artist and their work. These channels are wonderfully entertaining but are a little like magic shows that seem to tell you how the magic is done but still leave you astounded at the magic and none the wiser. This channel is also entertaining and enjoyable but it also actually teaches us how to paint.

I think this is one of your most helpful videos for a beginner. It's great to have all of the flat wash tips together in one place. One thing that has really helped me is your recommendation to use a much larger brush. Before I found your channel, I had been trying to use a #6 round for everything, because some other KZbinr had said, "That's really all you need."
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber2 жыл бұрын
Well you can get by with one brush... I would personally choose a size 10/12 if stuck on a desert island. And if you only painted small florals a size 6 might do. I don't think you need 50 different brushes, but a couple of large and small round and a big flat is a good start :-)

Such a useful tutorial. The two things that I found most useful were using the leading edge for large areas and the fine dabbing of excess puddles. I have just tried the latter and it worked really well My biggest nemesis still is not making a large enough mix. I need to get my tubes out to do this rather than rely on my filled half pans ❤

I've gotten the most wonderful white ceramic ramekins at the charity shops to use for custards and just the right amount of French oinion soup. Just 25 to 50 cents each. But then I used them to mix up large flat washes. So I won't use them for cooking now.😂

Hi Michele! Just heard there will be a chain of protestors around the Thames for Julien Assange's case on Saturday, yes it involves the bridge. At times it's not easy painting different flat wash colors, in preparation for a large paper canvas painting. From top to bottom it takes time, how can we do it without demarcation lines. What are the mistakes, and how to correct them? Your video was a great help, thank you for sharing.

Thank you soooo much!!! That was amazing!! What a big help! I've been trying to get this right for a while!! Can't wait to try it later today. I've taken classes and the instructor never mentioned about the granulations of paint! When buying paint, are they marked which ones are granulated?? Your really good at explaining, thanks again! This is one of the best I have seen!
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Generally not marked but it's about pigment, not brand. For example ultramarine always granulates, indian yellow never does. Take a look at my video on granulation, there's a link in the description box. Although not always marked on the tube, a quick look on google or the manufacturers website may enlighten you. Every single pigment has a number, you will usually find it on the tube, it looks like this PV19 (pigment violet 19) or PG7 (pigment green 7) If you search online you will find a lot of details about what sort of properties it has. Some tubes of paint (mixed pigments) will have more than one pigment in the tube. You will soon get to know the ones that granulate, they are mostly blues and earth colours.
