Today, while more and more working class Americans are unable to afford the health care they need, 3 people own more wealth than the bottom half of American society - 165 million people.
I'll repeat: ☝️-✌️-THREE PEOPLE now own more wealth than the bottom 165 million Americans.

@@malleomusic : It is up to us to change how much resistance people like Bernie get, by voting more progressives into office. Bernie can't do it alone. Progressives need us like we need them. In 2020 about 95 million Americans didn't vote. Since we've known for many decades that conservatives almost always vote, we know the vast majority of non-voters lean left, and or liberal or egalitarian. If we get even half of them to vote, the republican party would be not more than a nuisance. They know it too. It's time we knew it and acted on it.

@aylbdrmadison1051 Жыл бұрын
I agree with your sentiment 100%. But a minor correction is in order here. _Empathy_ is the ability to sense how another feels, and does not itself indicate whether or not they care about anything. Compassion the correct word, because that does indicate that the person cares. As an example, there have even been murderers who are/were empathic. Like a predator in the wild can sense fear. Most of us have at some point witnessed an animal sensing fear in humans, or other animals. You can see it in the wild too. This is not the sole purpose of empathy, of course, but it is part of predatory instinct. To easily remember.. Empathy is sensing. Compassion is caring. But we can be proud of both abilities if we own them both. Or just be proud of owning compassion, if we have mostly that. Note: I'm not on your case, or anyone else for not knowing this, as this is a very common mistake. I certainly don't think any one individual is to blame, only those who do know the difference and promote that confusion intentionally (something conservative think tanks have been doing for more than 80 years at least, along with making people believe communist countries have ever existed, when in fact by definition that is impossible).

If we could get hlf (or even much less) of them to vote, it would destroy the republican party and leave room for a real leftist party, or at the very least a progressive centrist party. The last time the left had any major representation was in the 1930's when the American Socialist party represented about 20% or the voter base.

Independent risk factors multiply to give excess risk of heart disease, stroke and cancers, so treating them powerfully reduces risk. There are 10 independent risk factors that need to minimized for prolonged, healthy life [followed by what to do in parentheses]: 1. asthma/sleep apnea [treat], 2 to 6 fold risk 2. smoking [stop], up to 140 fold risk, 475,000 annual deaths in the U.S.. 3. drinking [stop/moderate], 50% more risk, 200,000 annual deaths in the U.S.. 4. no fish/seafood intake [want 6oz/wk, 20#/y], 5 fold risk, 5. body mass index [want 20-25kg/M2, max 125# at 60", max 185 at 72"], risk doubles every 40#. Pretty close, no more data in abdominal girth. 300,000 annual deaths in the U.S.. Dependent with BP+A1C, so not multiplicative with the other independent risk factors 6. no exercise/poor aerobic capacity [20min twice/d better], 5 fold risk 7. blood pressure [want ≤120/75mmHg], risk doubles every 20mmHg above 115 8. cholesterol [want LDL≤65, HDL ≥60] LDL 210 doubles risk 9. average glucose [want hemoglobin A1C≤4.9]. up to 5 fold risk, double at 6.2 10. mood [depression doubles risk, walking 30min/d, CBT, SSRIs equivalent] 11. Fiber: achieve 25g/day for women, 35g for men, prevents 40% of heart attack, stroke and colon cancer. It may be lifesaving to get screening like stress testing, digital rectal exam, colonoscopy and mammography. We can all cut our risk 83 fold with fiber, fish, fruits vegetables and walking. Diet and exercise recommendations, assuming a stress test shows a person is safe to. The short version: At least 50 grams/ 200 calories protein daily: check on nutrient facts label on our food. 4.5 cups vegetables and fruit daily. 1kg, 1L, 36oz, 2.2#, 1.1qt. Vegetables protect memory over age 50. Better carbs: limited amounts of oats and barley, eliminate white rice, white bread, instant potatoes, corn syrup, and table sugar. Limit total calories to 1800 a day. While this is found in a cup of oil or a pound of grain or meat, a cup of fruit is 120 and a cup of carrots is only 40 calories. Walk 5 minutes twice daily more, add a minute a day, until you are walking at least 20 minutes episodes twice daily, then build heart rate 1beat/minute/week, or speed by 1% a week.

BERNIE and AOC in 2024

Oh come on you're kidding right? Bernie is literally an incredible hypocrite. He preaches all this while owning three houses. And AOC literally worked in a COFFEE SHOP and had cries about everything on Twitter, while acting like she knows everything and literally not knowing the meaning of "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps." Why do you want them?

Amazing! his speech hasn't changed in 40 years and but his fighting upstream, the Ted Cruz's and the Mitch McConnell's of the world are just outnumbering anyone who wants this country to become great again.

Here's the unfair part of the "fair tax act". It gives monthly rebates to all qualified families but the qualification is not income based, it's just "one or more family members sharing a common residence", regardless of the family income. The rebate is simply the sales tax rate multiplied by the annual poverty level determined by the Dept of Health and Human Services, which is based on number of people in the family. For the 48 contiguous states it's currently $14,580 for one person, up to $50,560 for 8 people. The tax rate for 2023 is stated to be 23% (which is not 30% btw, don't know where people got that from) and say it's a 4 person family, the poverty level for which is $30,000, the rebate would be $6900 per year, which is paid monthly as $575. If that family bought less that $2500 in goods and services that month they would come out ahead, but everything over that would be a loss. The glitch is that every family of 4 would get that same rebate regardless of whether they're low income or high income. In Canada the rebates are based on your income tax form so high income earners get no rebates at all. The Republicans want to give rich families hundreds of dollars a month in sales tax rebates when they obviously don't need or deserve it.
