I find it very interesting how gachiakutas power system seems so simplistic at first but the further you read the series you realize how complex it can really be. All of the powers relate to how to users of the jinki view the item. Just like you said in the video how a simple item can be viewed in so many ways giving it endless possible abilities this is an example of a great power system.
@TheMangotaku4 ай бұрын
Exactly!! It's so refreshing that I had to make a video about it!
@Pro-Diletante4 ай бұрын
Hmm But I feel like that’s also the problem because of well one semantics and two. Perspectives. Someone can be really broken from simply having a “perspective” that feels too easy for me to grasp and it makes the story feel like it takes place in a vacuum. In our world we have around 8 billion humans. What makes you think there won’t be 50% of those people who just gain god like powers like teleporting stuff and people. Simply because of a perspective. 🫣
@constantdreams79184 ай бұрын
@@Pro-Diletante This doesn’t happen because in gachi akuta weapons/jinki have weaknesses and draw backs. The world or powersystem places a limit on abilities for example rudo can only turn 3 items into a jinki at once and it takes a lot of his stamina. Also the weapons disintegrate after he is finished with it meaning he can’t just store a bunch of weapons and become too op.
@tylamcgilverson39234 ай бұрын
I gotta disagree. This isn't complex yet but it's really simple it's just a user tool system. Like shaman King, soul eater not innovative but just the same.

The art is amazing, the power system is really creative, the characters are fun asf, the story is super interesting and the fight choreography is better than most battle animanga out there. It's on the same level as Sakamoto days and JJK except the story is more interesting IMO. Edit: I didn't know this comment would spark a JJK review chain but aight
@constantdreams79184 ай бұрын
Fr, I think a lot of people underrate gachi akutas pacing. I feel like now a days shonen manga is too fast paced take a look at jujutsu kaisen, we still don’t know about the heian era, clans, numerous backstories, etc I legit could go on and on about how jujutsu kaisen doesn’t even explore these interesting subjects. Also demonslayer doesn’t explore the blue spider lily’s, the government, the past of the demonslayer corps (they do a little bit) etc. Now a days I just wanna read a shonen with good writing, world building, and cool characters I don’t care about super fast Chainsawman pacing (not saying any of these shows are bad or lack some of the stuff above just saying).

@@MrGhostTheBigRoast I feel like after the shibuya arc the pacing just went down hill for jujustu kaisen, even the shibuya arc was fast paced but it atleast had a good structture. Culling games was aight but lacked good structure, the whole "Bring back sorcerers from old times" was so interesting to me and an amazing chance to explore the lore of the heian era and clans but gege just said "Fuck it" rushed the arc and made is undercooked and underwhelming. The fights in the culling games are top tier with strategy and mind games evolved but lacked the story to compliment it. And now in this current arc I feel like gege is gonna have to really cook and write so he can at least save parts of his lack luster world building. Other than that I didn't read sakamoto days and also have you read gachiakuta before saying it's dog I think it has a really solid story and cool characters.

JJK is a good example of all looks no substance, while the powers and characters are great the writer throws much of the development and world lore out of the window for shock value and cool fights, something HxH does way better. Everything in HxH is connected to the world and characters. Demon Slayer AFAIK the writer panicked after the sudden success of the manga and cut it short, when the anime came out and the sales exploded the manga was at the Sword Village arc and they decided to speed up due to that. It was a bad decision IMO as most of the people commented tons of unanswered plot points or under developed conclusions, but I prefer that over Narutoing/Bleaching for infinite.

It reminds me a lot of fullbring from Bleach. People with the power to pull souls out of objects, spending lot's of time with it will cause it to develop powers when pulling the soul out, using it drains your stamina. I'd say the main difference is that fullbrings powers are based on your desires and perspective on life while jinki is based specifically on the object. I'd say its probably inspired by the fullbringer arc of bleach, especially since the main characters goal is literally the goal and backstory for the main villain of the arc, they're accused of a crime they didn't commit, get exiled, and then seek for revenge. Seems like the author is doing their own thing with it thou since the setting is really unique, I just find the similarities very cool, makes me think they are inspired by the series.

I’d argue a good portion of this concept being shared not only with these manga, but also elsewhere in Japanese media is just because the concept of ‘objects with souls’ is rooted in Shinto-it’s the origin of more than a couple of famous yokai, for example! If you’re curious about this, look up ‘Tsukumogami’-the general gist being after 100 years, household items become sentient and imbued with souls, and creatures/yokai in of themselves :)

I can't help but thinking "awakening" devil fruits in One Piece, when it comes to the idea of "perspective" being the main limitation. I'd also be willing to say it even has an aspect with OP's haki, given you need new perspective of potential to surpass what you had thought a pinnacle. Definitely love that this power system delves directly into that concept, while cutting out a lot of the "middle men" concepts that One Piece dabbles in.

This also shows a fun trick to make a power: create 2 features that have lots of options. This system has the object and the experience associated with it. Scissors + holding them in your feet, gloves and fixing up trash, etc. Just taking two catagories and mixing them together to create a power system does a lot of the legwork! Like maybe combing inorganic matter and organic processes, art and memories, or elemental magic and musical magic! All you have to do to make a great power system this way is either build a story’s themes around this, or select categories or concepts which are connected to the themes you want to explore. That “Inorganic material, organic processes” sounds like a great system for magical robots, which can connect to themes of nature vs artificiality or what parts of us make us human. Art + Memory sounds like a great power system for an exploration of what role art plays in the human condition, or maybe how greed and corruption can infect art (maybe the villains are corporations or a government and the protagonists are graffiti artists?). And if you wanted to go the other way, maybe you want to do a story about how people are shaped by expectations. Some catagories and ideas that come to mind are disguises, illusion, lies, puppetry, and authority. Maybe you could combine Disguises and Puppetry to create a system where your identity and your self is an expendable resource. Like you can implant a bit of yourself into another person to control them, or create telekinetic forces at the risk of losing your appearance and memories. Basically, this was just me rambling about how combining concepts which would be boring on their own can create a power system that is creative while also being thematic (you’re welcome to them if you thought they were cool)

I haven't read the manga yet, but i have 3 questions: - Doesn't that mean the powers are basically mini versions of Deus Ex Machina? - If true, what the narrative does to prevent that or from becoming that? - Doesn't the girl uses the scissors purely for fan-service? lol Again, I have yet to read the manga, but from the video, i couldn't get anything that would prevent someone to just go like "i have a pen as a jinki. And as I see it, i can rewrite events that transpire with it." The dude could basically be Kira from Death Note or straight up change an event in the story. All that being said, still sounds like a fun time binge manga, so I might give it a try anyways :P

1. A lot of the time in the story they used their powers (also known as jinki) in clever ways to solve a problem it isn’t an ass pull when they do it because it’s throughly explained that their weapons or jinki is capable of it. 2. Every jinki has its weaknesses to Limit the power of it, the more op the ability is the greater drawback it’ll have if it’s a weaker ability then it’ll have less drawbacks probably just stamina drain and something else.

This goes further when mages are taking their tests to rank up basically, if they can’t envision themselves as a top class mage, then they won’t be. Usable in the real world ~ “dress for the position you want not the position you have” etc.

Ngl this manga for me was quite disappointing. I adore the art style. The setting is quite cool, but my praise kinda ends there. I can't put my finger on it since it's been a while since I read it, but it just felt like it was missing something. The story just didn't feel engaging and I didn't really care about the characters. Maybe it was the fact that I read as it came out, and the chapters were short so nkt much happened. Idk maybe I'll give it another chance once its complete

Sounds like the power system plays on the idea of Kids literally playing on a dumpster. Grab anything as a weapon of your choice, and make up whatever b.s. you like as its ability. I grew up living next to a dumpster, the settings alone might trigger some fond memories playing with other kids 😂

There's an anime that already had that but it's too lewd to turn into a proper anime.
