I really appreciate that man standing in the entry behind you, focused like a laser on you. He's one of the only people around to observe, and surely appreciate, the whole piece. For some reason, sometimes seeing other people moved by music is more moving to me than the music itself. I always look for that person in the crowd that feels magic happening - it's proof that there actually IS magic happening. If I feel it, and I see that somebody else feels it too, I know it's a real thing and I love that.

Just to give a bit of context. I haven’t played piano since I was 12. I just climbed out of my first depressive episode and am 34 and just woke up one day wanting my keyboard and my boyfriend brought one home the next night and I cried but remembered …how do I play now? …it was like muscle memory and instruments you love to play are like ..an extension of yourself. Mind And body. It never leaves you. And that’s why people can play by ear/memory like this sometimes. There’s no other way to describe it other than, feeling like the playing and the music is immersing you into a picture you’re painting. Elevating you up into a celestial, but familiar plane of existence.
