The woofer is a Digital Designs 3500 series 10" with ESP, and Supercharged.

Regular camera, but i played a 26hz sine wave - When you record this on a 25fps video camera, you see this slow mo effect as the moving object is almost in sync with the camera frame rate! Interestingly, when playing a 25hz sine wave, on video the woofer looks completely motionless!

Hey barevids can you make a video on how manufacturers rate/ derive their Xmax spec & the different ways they test for xmax? DD lists 17.5 mm xmax for this woofer, 95/99 series is 21 & 22 mm, however the sub is clearly moving more than 17.5 mm one way.. Subs like Sundown X & Z state 30 mm xmax and JL W7 line is 19mm - 32 mm for .. JL states xmax is derived via one way coil overhang method w/ no correction factor applied. Thanks

What you are seeing is the difference between xmax and xmech. Xmax generally is the amount before a lot of distortion. Xmech is how much it can move without damage. For the spl guys it's all about how much air they can push. For the sound quality guys it's usually more about how well it sounds or more importantly how well it plays with the rest of the system

When they list a rating for Xmax they're referring to mechanical xmax. Which is the distance the coil can travel while limited by the motor. What you're referring to is more commonly known as Excursion, the absolute farthest distance the motor is capable of throwing the coil, and it doesn't normally get mentioned in specs as there are too many variables that come into play when measuring it.

I have a question... I want to get a stereo amp and hook up a sub to it, most of the time on the back of the amp is says minimum of 4 ohm's I want to buy a sundown audio subwoofer an they have dual 2ohms and dual 4 ohms however on the site it says that the d2 is 3.36 ohms and the d4 5,76 ohms. I think that the amp doesn't have enough power at 5,76 ohms.. Could I run the 3,36 ohms or will it damage the amp????
