The reason why people rank him low tier is because you can just duck block him all day. That air dive kick can be blocked low. His other jump ins are slow and he can't launch easily at all, because his launcher is so short ranged and a bit slow. You can tell in the video he can only do stuff in the corner because that crouching hard punch throws them so far otherwise. Even then, you can see its inconsistent, while other characters can wreck you mid screen. To be fair, any character in this game can do well if you land a few colossus'. Even Jin can down a character with 2 colossus hits.

Back in the late 90's (1999), my friend used to beat the snot of everyone using the same partner combination, Jin + Captain Commando at the arcade. I never was a Capcom fighting game fan, but looking at the way he played had made me appreciate and love this game, especially the character selection theme. And yeah, he made sure to use that 'flashing white' Jin (Saotome Shine, or something) to the fullest.

Nah, sadly, Jin *does* suck ass in MvC1. Not that he can't do stuff (and for shame, Justin! There were Jin mains in CTF that could play like this!), but he takes far more work to get easy damage (his c.LP -> c.HP XX Blodia Fist combo is unusually space dependent) compared to the top tiers, and he has no real Duo (a.k.a. Team Cheating) synergy. That Jin was stellar, no question. But besides making a bunch of mistakes, if Justin wanted to shut down Jin hard, he should have just picked Lou instead of Colossus.
