Hey guys! In this video I go over what I consider to be the most interesting deleted scene in the Jurassic Park Franchise. This scene comes straight out of The Lost World Jurassic Park and it gives us a good look at Peter Ludlow's character. The Board Room scene is one that many people have talked about for years now but to tell you the truth I'm actually glad it got cut from the movie in hindsight. I honestly think it makes InGen look a little stupid after they say that they spent $126 million dollars destroying the buildings and animals on Isla Nublar, just to turn around and say that they need to go capture the dinosaurs on Site B to bail them out. I never really thought about it until now but that seems like they were trying to over explain the reason that Isla Sorna needed to exist. I think the movie is fine the way it is without this scene. But hey, I'd love to know what all of you guys think as well! DINOSAR DNA! BINGO! :D

This deleted scene does establish just how much InGen was reeling from its financial losses and setting up motivation to harvest the Sorna dinosaurs. And it does give some good characterization to Ludlow. However, the part about "demolition and disposal of organic and inorganic facilities" sounds a lot like the napalm bombing of Isla Nublar at the end of the Crichton novel. If it was InGen that did it rather than the Costa Rican government then they just created their own canyon sized problems. If it had been kept in the film, Jurassic World could not happen and the franchise would be in a very different place than it is now. Its ironic that The Lost World and JP3 did not confirm the status of Isla Nublar and its dinosaurs, leaving the door open to Jurassic World; now the lack of information given in Fallen Kingdom about what happened to Isla Sorna and its inhabitants.

Well, I believe Ingen's information is false. They have it "written" and "priced" out that the animals and equipment were destroyed. This was probably to avoid further controversy against the company. When Malcolm arrives at the building and sees Ludlow, he confronts him and states that Ludlow was falsifying facts and making him and others look crazy. To me, this is proof that the truth was bent anyway and Ingen's only interest was making people "believe" these animals did not exist and/ or were gone until they can make the profit, themselves. Not to mention, if any believers hear the "animals are dead" it also kills the curiosity to break onto the island to see them. Which will cause future injury and more lawsuits. Kill curiosity, kill the risk, "tell people the island was destroyed". My theory is proven based on how Jurassic Park 3 starts. Curious people who want to go parasailing by the island to see dinosaurs. End up trapped, and injured/killed. So, finally and simply put (in movie canon, not novel)... the report of the deconstruction of Nublar, was probably just bullshit.

I do like the fact they acknowledged the deaths of the previous park workers and the financial consequences that occurred from it. That speaks of realism to me in the franchise. And yes the Roland Tembo scene was great because it added more dialogue from the actual novel to the movie which would have helped cement the two closer together.

I like seeing the underhandedness of Ludlow in this scene. It also shows the suits behind the scene looking at everything financially compared to Hammond now trying to preserve the actual life of the animals, with or without profit. And as far as the cost of the destruction, could it be they were trying to move back to the book where the Costa Rician government destroyed Nublar (and maybe for the sake of the list of the expotenial cost, charged Ingen for it)

This was a great scene!! I wish I could edit it back in and have it be Cannon. You can feel the aftershocks InGen is dealing with after the 1993 incident, and it does wonderfully introduce Peter Ludlow. There oughta be a new edit of the film that puts back in some of what was cut out, this scene, Roland's bar brawl intro and the scene where Kelly asks Ian to marry Sarah. I know that there was a wealth of scenes that were also never filmed, and that's a shame!! But alas, I'm still very happy with what we've got!! A superb sequel, indeed and my 2nd All-Time-Favorite movie, the first being the original Jurassic Park!!

Some of that would have been interesting to see. Like how they are reeling from the losses and the pure ruthlessness of Ludlow. Mainly the ruthlessness as with what we have he comes off as almost sympathetic. ((I’ve read both books and the second movie has always made me giddy with how much creativity they have with coming up with a whole new plot line. Makes a little sad that I’ll never see the characters from the second book brought to life or see the jerk who paid Nedry to steal the embryos get his karmatic end but still an amazing movie.))

Anyway yes the courtroom sense was very interesting although I did question why they would kill the dinosaurs. I think we can assume they clean up certain things on Nublar particular the labs and the embryos and maybe even, for some unknown reason they took out the fountains in-front of the Visitors Center. Anyway it’s a shame the scene is basically non canon now cause of the Jurassic World films. But ultimately the scene really wasn’t 100 percent necessary. If I could choose a deleted scene that isn’t available I probably switch the bored room scene out with the moment Ludlow breaks the baby’s leg, that moment feels more significant to the over all story. If the Lost World keep that scene and Pets fight at the restaurant then the film would be perfect.

In telltales Jurassic park, the ingen representative talking to Laura Sorkin called the island contaminated, so maybe that's why ingen decided to kill the animals on site A but that doesn't explain why they didn't do that for site B

Fun fact: when you add up all the money that the company lost between the first film and the 1994 clean up, it amounts to a whopping 215.4 million dollars in loses. But that doesn’t even begin to count for the cost of research funding and media payoffs, so if you add those into the mix, it’s like up to about a quarter of a billion dollars if not more.

Well.... Considering the Island was destroyed in the novel, I always ran with the assumption that Costa Rica and the United States considered the first Island a threat. Then they billed InGen for the expense of destroying everything. I honestly always considered the scene canon for two reasons. 1) There was no reason (at the time) to believe that any of the Dinosaurs on Sorna weren't currently on Nublar. You wouldn't open a Zoo or a Theme Park with less than half of your intended animals/attractions. 2) Logistically speaking, with the above, it makes no sense to go to Sorna if everything they're after is already on Nublar. So something must have happened to Nublar in order for Sorna to be the target. This was one of my biggest criticisms of Jurassic World when it came out. It didn't explain why InGen in 97 decided to go to Sorna if Nublar was perfectly fine.

You have to consider that Jurassic Park was in a very early stage at the time, none of the planned attractions were finished, except for the safari tour. It would make sense that they would keep the rest of the animals on Site B until the park was finished.

Adding more dinosaurs months or years after the park opened would keep things fresh and make people visit the park more than once. All big theme parks do this.

I've always found this scene fascinating too, as it's interesting to get a bit more of InGen's perspective. You can understand why they did it, but at the same time Ludlow really comes off as a ruthless prick with that smirk. It's a shame a couple of his most pivotal and antagonistic moments got cut (even if breaking the baby rex's leg was an accident because he was shitfaced). But yeah, it doesn't fit in well with the new canon, and doesn't really make sense to begin with. Why WOULD they destroy their own assets? In the books, it made sense as it was the Costa Rican Air Force's doing, but in this scene they basically blew a ton of money for no good reason. I've never had a problem with the idea of Site B, either, and just rolled with it as "the factory floor" so to speak. It also makes sense that InGen would pillage Site B before Nublar, because like you said, more dinosaurs! And heck, it's just plain fun. Two islands full of dinosaurs! But yeah, I wouldn't trade that cut to Malcolm yawning for anything, haha. And if any scene should have been kept in, it should have been Roland's introduction. The scene of Ludlow breaking the baby's leg would have been nice too, but oh well.

Yeah, I love TLW as my one of my top favourite movies in the franchise but none will be No.1 for me because the first one will still and always will be number 1 to me and to everyone, some people may dislike the movie but I like it even the Buck T-Rex in San Diego scene because it shows what would happen if you ship the dinos onto the mainland and put them in a Zoo/Seaworld/Disneyland/Universal Studio-like theme park and how that is problematic as well as a worst idea in a long sad history of bad ideas, I wish they kept those two scenes or maybe few more that fits well with movie, killing off dinos on Nublar is a bad idea then creating them, I wish they can expand the lore a bit, there must be a reason why they aren't going back to Nublar to get the dinos there, I would love to see the Rex family back at some in the franchise either a spin-off franchise, tv series, comics or such

They say that Sorna is basically barren (and Spino was listed as extinct on Nublar), but there's still a lot of mystique to the place and I wouldn't be surprised if something has indeed survived...

It would make a lot more sense to just say that the dinosaurs on Nublar died off because there wasn't enough lysine-rich food for them to eat on that island, while Sorna had enough to sustain them despite their lysine deficiency.

I 100% wholeheartedly agree that is an amazing scene that feels like it got cut because it didn't get completed. I feel the significance of the scene showing how important of a move this was done so great and has that Jurassic feel of Ingen\the other corporations being so much more greedy and heartless than the John Hammond we got to know in the first film. Also I think they should've focused more on John Hammond in the scene, elaborated why they thought he was so bad for the company, which probably held a good deal of truth to it. I think the bit about wiping organic assets is just a detail they obviously didn't think too hard on or else it would've actually been in the film. I would love a complete cut of The Lost World to feature this scene somewhere, but I agree it can't be where the screaming lady-malcolm yawn transition is. Damn I love this movie so much it's crazy how we're still talking about it so many years later. I'm hoping the third JW film can find it's own legs whilst also tying up some loose threads of nostalgia, namely being the Spinosaurus, Alan Grant hopefully, Malcolm action\doing anything honestly instead of just being used to drive sales. Imagine Malcolm asking Grant about the Spinosaurus after seeing it for the first time, or even Grant and Owen going on a mission then all of a sudden blue comes out and Grant probably thinks he knows raptors, but he doesn't know her. It'd be so cool, I'm kinda also hoping all the kids come back, from JW trilogy at least, though Lex, Tim, and the kid from Jp3 would also be cool. What about Billy? There's too many characters I want to see again and those are just the humans xD

As a side thing, when I saw that scene (From when they had the extended movie shown on TV), I assumed more that the asset disposal was less burn the island to the ground and more of the clear facilities near the shore and deal with any escapees/other issues along with recovery. I also kind of wish that Ludlow wouldn't have had that grin, making it clear that he pretty much saw the InGen expedition and removing John Hammond from leadership as the last option that he had. Him being desperate to save InGen could be very interesting there, and if that combines with the sick Hammond stuff, that could make it even more so.

I always felt scenes like this one we're filmed as necessary material to perhaps be used in sequels that were not in development yet, like the shot of the shaving cream bottle with the embryos in it that Dennis dropped and was covered in mud... I always liked the deleted scenes in the JP films

The version of the scene in the TV cut is more polished, and the scream-to-yawn transition is still there, it's just one of the board members instead of Malcolm. It's always left me wondering why Spielberg shot both scenes opening the same way, though.

I like the scene but I still love the Rolland deleted scene more. I would love his charecter to come back or get mentioned. Becuase I could see Rolland leading a team to hunt down the dinos or Rexy. They won't kill but contain. So they can be put on their own island again.

The dialogue involving The destruction of organic material would have been in reference to things such as left over embryos and anything that could stolen by Biosyn or other companies and studied and used. Not the full grown animals themselves. From a business perspective, loss or no loss, you don’t give apposing companies the ability to gain on you. Especially since you’re now fully aware of the lengths they’ll go to obtain said information and material.

At the end of the first book, didn’t Costa Rica military essentially Nuke Isla Nublar? Perhaps they sent the bill to In Gen. And it is possible Rexy could’ve survived given some of the underground tunnels and such through the island,
