It MAY be wise to reword your comment so more people like me don't end up thinking "thank goodness it was _just_ a Guinea pig," since losing a pet is still tough.

My deepest condolence for your loss, man. She seemed like such an adorable bundle of joy, and as someone who's had a handful of different pets in his childhood, the pain is always there, but the memories, connection and good moments you had with her make that pain feel less heavy to burden. Don't let anyone diminish the love I'm sure you had for her. RIP Marline. Before watching this movie, I wasn't sure of the idea of Bryan Cranston as Jim Gordon; however, as soon as I saw it, I finally saw the vision and was amazed by his subtle and great performance in this movie; he really would be an incredible pick to play Jim Gordon in live action. If I'm being honest, whenever I watch this movie, I'm actually more interested in the Jim Gordon storyline than I am in the Batman storyline, even though the Batman moments are really cool.

Your mention of "supernatural forces" in the form of coincidence reminded me of a character I've been trying to make work in a story for years now. Basically someone who can sense the narrative patterns their world operates on and use it to their advantage, but not in the usual 4th wall breaking way. More-so they can feel some higher power influencing things, infer when the story is focusing on them, and position themselves to benefit from whatever narrative tropes are in play.

the pain we feel at the loss of a loved one does not stem from the realization that we will never see them again. no, it is the debt of gratitude for the happiness, love, memories, both good and bad, that were made while in each other's company. it is a debt of love, love gathered over multiple years paid over the course of weeks, months. this is why the pain is intense, because it a large gathered over a long time repaid all at once over the course of a fraction of the time the friendship was formed over. know that your friend will be the recepient of your emotional outburst, they will be humbled in the afterlife and thus exalted.

Personally, I have no qualms with adaptations that deviate away from the source material. After all, if I just wanted the source material, then I would've just consumed that instead of the adaptation. As long as the essence of the original story is kept and it maintains, if not exceeds, the quality of the story. Then I have zero problems.
@NightRunner2099

I somewhat agree. However, a possible problem is that the continuity for that story might not match the current status quo and basically create contradictions. Also, no matter what, people will still complain about certain aspects. For example, Ollie killing Parallax Hal at the end of the gl movie with an arrow is comic accurate. Yet, people still complained. Syndicate's death in COIE was also similar to the comic. But they still complained.

@@Gurd-f2z I agree with Flashpoint and Under The Redhood. I'm not the biggest fan of All Star. It has the overall story. However, it skips a lot of good moments that have the story its depths. And AW isn't really based on any comic. The closest that comes to my mind is The Darksied War. However, the story elements are drastically different. The most common thing is that they're both Darksied stories. And I wouldn't say that movie is better than Darksied war. I don't like how edgy it is just for the sake of being edgy and Superman's plan didn't make any sense.
