[ADVICE] MY-PHILOSOPHY: "INNER-STRENGTH" I have found that simply "loving myself" (inner-child) is a powerful tool against most types of social-dependency/vulnerability. Example: In my mind, I visualise a picture of my younger self (family albums might help). And I 'remember' what the emotion of genuine love felt like. And then I project those emotions onto the mental visualization of my younger self. I meditate and hold that 'state of mind' for as long as I can. The result? I feel my conscious energy resignating with positivity and renewed strength. And my anxiety immediately evaporates away. At the very least, depending on my levels of anxiety, this mediation practice aids to 'evaporate' much of it. You can do the same thing with "trying to 'remember' temperatures, e.g. hot or cold. And then project that memory onto a visualised heat source (all within your minds eye). You will 'feel' the effects immediately." I hope this proved helpful.

Meruem and Mewtwo were both born into similar circumstances as a strong and arrogant creature and ended up becoming better as they met certain individuals that changed their perspective completely where they realized that strength isn't everything. It reminded me of Mewtwo's quote when it also saw the light at the end of its existential crisis tunnel: “I see now that the circumstances of one's birth is irrelevent,it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.”

There were several times I started to tear up during this video. Your descriptions of Komugi made me draw parallels to my wife. How her goal of making sure everyone is taken care of and happy, while not one for one with Komugi wanting to do nothing but play a game of Gungi, feels similar. I was all but crying right beside you there towards the end of the video, Nick. Meruem is one of the best written characters ever. He had so much depth and growth. It was extremely impactful when he died and it was tragic cause he was finally finding his humanity... I really wish he survived but continued to grow. Same with Pito. Some of the Ants survived & get to continue growing, but imagine if Gon didn't finish off Pito & she helped Meruem kill Puff for plotting behind their backs... then they continue becoming human & become important members later on. Granted, this would be extremely less impactful & probably wouldn't work with the story (unless they went with the next expedition to the dark continent cause that'd be interesting) but I just really like Pito & Mereum & I was so sad when they died... especially Pito cause she died so fast.

I loved the deeper analysis on Meruem's character, it put concrete words to what I was feeling at the end of his character arc. You take someone who had no concept of what love and acceptance was only knowing power and cruelty, and slowly develop their relationship. Something that clearly didn't make much sense. And sadly some of us never get to find an answer. An in depth character analysis that gave me a newfound respect & appreciation for Meruem. And for you Nick. Thank you for this heartwarming analysis. Meruem was always one of my favorite characters in the series, but it wasn't until watching this video that I finally understood why. I now believe that the reason for the excessive exposition and slow pacing was intended so that the audience could process the beauty of his character development and reach this exact conclusion. Unfortunately, the shift was too jarring for many of us, even for other prolific creators covering the arc. Needless to say, I'm now extremely motivated to revisit it and will now watch it with an open mindset.

I find this to be a Grade S story arc. As you truly get to feel the character change. Mind you this falls in line with my view on evil beings being very short sighted. As come on, even the idea of using humans as livestock make little to no sense. As humans are a very poor livestock. Not only do we lack the heavy mussel mass which makes for good meat. we also reproduce relatively slowly, having long gestation periods. Which in all honesty wouldn't work out for his original plan. This entire thing just shows the short slightness of this character. As he had all these grand plans and schemes but really did he know what he actual wanted? Turns out no, as in reality he just wanted some kind of connection. A man born with a parent, born without a cause, born to be king but having no idea what this even actual means. Outside of hey, your the strongest. He didn't even truly care about his own citizens. Killing them without remorse or thought. Until he meet someone he couldn't beat i a game of wits. A game that in all honesty he didn't even need to play. In reality games like chess or go have little to no tactical correlation. Your not going to become a better commander knowing when to sacrifice a pawn or to push forward. As life is rarely ever that straight forward. The rule of real combat is always more complicated. So why did he do it, from the looks of things he was board. He was the top of the food chain. But he really didn't know what he wanted to do. As in all honesty taking over the world even with a super powered army is not as easy as you think. as sure you can crush every army...but holding onto the land... keeping an active garrison is harder then you think... Combine this with meeting her and losing for the first time. it expand his views so greatly.. That he began to question why he was even doing this to begin with. As he then justified it by saying he wanted to fix society. when in reality, what dose that even mean? as sure he wanted to use fear and death to do this...but even that is very vague on how he would even operate this entire thing. the man didn't even know what he wanted. Hell he didn't even have a name. Guy was just king, nothing more nothing less. This is why he easily fell in love with her. Because she was the only person who treated him differently. who even bothered to ask him questions. To show concern when he is wounded. she treated him not like a monster but a person. This is why this is such a great character arc.

In the future could we get a video over Shiapouf? He was another key character for me in the arc and I have never wanted to see a character reach a worse fate then him. I totally get it. I’ve watched Hunter x Hunter 5 or 6 times myself. The thing is I’ll put on an episode for the comfort of it and just keep going and going and going. All the way to episode 148 (see, I know how many episodes are in the series without having to look it up). Yup, embarrassing. But here’s the thing, each time I watch it I get something new, something different from that watch. The show is so deep, so complex, that I think it justifies the number of times I’ve watched it. I don’t think I could watch it so many times if it were otherwise. I used to not love Greed Island, but I now see it as a misunderstood masterpiece ahead of its time. So yeah I get it. And I think we need not feel embarrassed for watching it so many times.

I honestly believe this "might makes right" is also at the heart of why we kill livestock animals. Livestock animals are surprisingly intelligent and very much so conscious. Why do we kill them? Simply because they can't fight for themselves as we can. Hells, we justify it on the basis that we're more intelligent, what sort of justification is that? These animals are being killed for increasingly lavish purposes. I do not see a meaningful difference between early Meruem and those of us that choose to participate in that industry of death.

Hunter x Hunter has been my favourite anime/manga since I first started reading it, I picked it up by chance having won the first two volumes as a prize at a quiz night, and it came at a very difficult time in my life, it was a beautiful escape for me during that time. Ever since then I have loved it, I still regularly think about, coming up with different nen abilities and their restrictions, I still read/watch it regularly too, but despite all that, I have never looked at Meruem in this way. I like Meruem as a character, he's never been my favourite but I like him a lot, and the entire arc is amazing, but I think you have added a level of detail and appreciation that I never had before. Thank you, thank you for adding to my favourite series in such an inspirational way, I think I will appreciate both Meruem and Komugi more now. Beyond Hunter x Hunter, I think the overall message presented gives me a lot to think about and a lot to consider in my own life and with my own personal connections, I can honestly say I never expected a random KZbin video on a series I thought I knew inside and out would leave such an impression.
