This was the only pack that my mom refused to allow my father to let us (my sister and I) play (good Christian girls don't date 😂), but when my aunt bought it for Christmas for us, we were able to play it anyway...lol Ironically, I did the math, and my mom was pregnant with me while still in high school, and unmarried (good Christian girl there). 🤣🤷‍♀️

I remember when it came out, I was so excited to have so much more to do, travel, visit restaurants with others. It was truly a game changer. Yes, I am an older simmer at 53 years old, so when I first played this, it was appropriate ;) I loved it, and I am still playing The Sims ❤ I am editing because I meant to say, thank you! I am now subscribed. This was a cool video.

Awww me to i loved this! I am now 38, i did play sims 1 again in 2017 but then went straight to sims4 in 2020! Sims 1 did run so much better on my laptop haha i am thinking to play it again lol

In addition to the innovations, the music from this pack is one of the greatest in the entire franchise. Composer Kirk Casey really shined here in his collaboration with Jerry Martin, and they definitely continued some of the jazz music from Sim City 3000 ("Central Park Sunday" in particular). Gems such as "Dizzy Sim" and "SIMtastic" are straight-up hard bop bangers that you could mistake for being ripped straight out the historic jazz clubs of Chicago. Hot Date holds a special place in my heart for that alone. Great vid!

When I was 3 or 4 years old, my mom got a CD with this Expansion Pack. I've never actually managed to play it cause our pc wasn't so good to run the first Sims but omg how much time I spent just looking at the box and reading how cool it is to go shopping, visiting restaurants... I started my Sims journey from the second game and can't share the same nostalgic feelings about Sims 1 but this expansion will always be in my heart - like a postcard from a place I never visited but dreamed of.

Changing also works with the magazines in The Sims 2. It's a frequently missed feature and makes friendships a bit easier if you build up your sims interest in something the other sim likes.

Hot Date is my favorite Sims 1 EP! I feel that this pack actually really expanded the gameplay with new locations, locations and various NPCs. It feels like Hot Date sets a blueprint for the other expansions to follow. Plus it is the first time Sims can get out of the house with introduction of community lots, which is a game changer.

This with the Sims Deluxe was my first Sims game and I still really dig the 50s inspired look and feel of downtown. Makes going there feel more special.

I remember when this came out. the summer i saw my Sister play Sims she had the first 2 EPs, anyway afew months later iw was my wedding anniversary, we were in Game, and we saw it, my Husband spotted a box with the base game and 1st 2 EPs, so he said he woud get that for me, we got to the till, and they said another EP had come out....Hot Date, i played those games so much, my Dad had died that year and that was my go to to cheer me up :D The restaurants still worked better than in Sims 4......just saying I loved the charm and humour of Sims 1 and Sims 2

You're sooo spot on of the ATMOSPHERE of the game. I like that they decided to make TS1 both old and atemporal. Hot Date is for me the best expansion, but I like the value yo give to Livin' Large.

Honestly I think the atmosphere being so atemporal is what makes TS1 age like fine wine, and I agree that Hot Date might be the one getting that atemporality most right of all EPs

Yes I love how Sims 1 is both nostalgic and forward-looking at the same time. You can feel the developer’s childhoods in the 50s coming through while also being fun and turn-of-the-century modern

What I miss about the sims 1 is that even in sims 2 and sims 3 they never were able to fully capture the interactive nature of sims 1 lots. Like downtown had a candy shop etc this was never really seen in later sim games. Or even the fact that some restaurants had live performers, whereas sims 2 and 3 never really committed to wacky/unique npc characters and employees.

Is it weird that I honestly want the UI of the newer sims to follow the 'Style' of the Old ones? As someone that played the Old sims way back I always wondered if Kids ever grew up because mine got sent to military school all the time.

No, the kids never grew up in Sims 1, unless you had/have Makin' Magic EP. There is a spell you can make that will cause your kid to become an adult. Otherwise the Sims' ages never change.

I was just 13 when I bought this pack, my first pack ever. I played TS1 for a long time without knowing what DLCs were. LOL When I finally got them all (took me several months if not more than a year because I depended on my dad's money for that, obviously), my pc was soooo slow because of it. I was annoyed, but that wouldn't stop me from playing it 24/7, without another care in the world. I loved the cakes with the... ahem... entertainers inside! I messed with many couples' relationships with those. Except the Goths, back then I loved them too much to do that.

I love and appreciate how you open each of these videos, in the very themes of each video❣👏 My favorite part of the pack was the ability to buy clothes, and the modding community was able to take advantage too (although we had dial up internet then, which was too costly to get a lot of CC). I remember when I first played this pack I had two Sims go on a date and their relationship stats went over 100 to like 104 or something, it was bizarre and I've never seen it since or heard of this happening to anyone else. Also I had no idea this pack was controversial, my parents were strict with violent games but just let me play whatever with simulator games lol, I had some very, uhh, interesting ones

I genuinely think it holds up very well through its simplicity! The game runs smoothly, and there’s lots of things to do and explore. I suppose some of the routing and lack of multitasking is what I miss most.

Imagine if all this would be in the Sims 4. These idiots would probably separate it to 6 different game packs 🤦🏼‍♀️😑 I love hot date and other expansion packs in the Sims they're all so special, adds a lot and make the game even better. My favourite is probably superstar. I just love celebrity Sims. It's sad that the Sims 2 don't have this option.
