Thank you Hugo for an extremely interesting video showing 'in Motion Charging' battery-electric trolleybuses. We saw buses running both with poles up and poles down! And thank you for indicating the changeover point at Hardplatz.

You're very welcome! It was incredibly interesting for me to film this video and see how much flexibility this gives buses across the city with potentially future bus lines being coverted to this technology to make more use of existing wires and battery innovation! :)

for such a modern machine it is a verry bumpy ride.
@hugobazin805210 ай бұрын
All bus rides are very bumpy, even with me socket attachement to stabilize the camera... unfortunately just too many rough road surfaces in Zurich, even for swiss standards :(

Danke viel mal! Das freut mich sehr, dass zu hören! Die Buslinien in Zürich finde ich geben einen noch bessere Eindrücke als mit dem Tram oder Zug, weil man wirklich durch unglaubliche und schöne Stadtteile fährt :)

Another great feature of this video is that at two places we saw the bus use the white 'public transport lights' to go pass ordinary traffic waiting at a red light! Approaching Hardplatz and approaching Rosengarten.
@hugobazin805210 ай бұрын
Yesss indeed! What always astounds me is how small they are, sometimes even sitting in the front of the vehicle I have a hard time spotting the white dots myself, especially with a glaring sun like on that day!

The practice of bus and tram drivers changing mid-route is WORLDWIDE. The driver change takes place at the stop closest to the depot! For example, here in Nottingham England tram drivers change over not at the terminals but at Wilkinson Street.
@hugobazin805210 ай бұрын
Indeed it is! But only on city lines as drivers are assigned to one of the many depots scattered across the city! Where this makes less sense is when drivers switch mid line in smaller cities where the depot is far away from any of the lines and idling time is large at the end of a line, meaning it's easier to do that there... switching mid line is something I've only seen in to such an extent in Zurich compared to other cities where only a few lines have it! :)
@Fan652w10 ай бұрын
@@hugobazin8052 In smaller cities with a depot some kilometres away from the city centre, changing drivers in the city centre during the day makes perfect sense if there is somewhere for the drivers to get rest and refreshment during their (legally required) breaks.
@GreenFrog31710 ай бұрын
11:41 😂 yeah actually why do they switch mid line?

Did the Central Gov revitalized the old train tracks on altrssen segment into tram-trains??
@hugobazin80527 ай бұрын
Yes, it's been a while in the making and it now runs up the whole Limmat valley as the tram 20... I just posted a video on that if you want to go see! :)

09:30 I'm not from Zurich, or Switzerland, but I think there's a mistake: "Altes Krematorium" isn't the next stop... it's the last, final stop!! hahaha
@hugobazin805210 ай бұрын
Hahahaha!!!! Nice one!!! Indeed, final stop😂 at least I know I can get the bus there ;)
@you2be8399 ай бұрын
@@hugobazin8052 I couldn't resist joking about it because it's the 1st time in my whole life (over 40) that I've seen a stop named referencing a cemetery! Usually they just take the local name, even if the stop is right in front of the cemetery. Also, modern or not, I still don't like all the wiring hanging over the streets for trolleybuses, and you'd think that, now that there are battery electric buses, that they would discontinue the trolleybuses and remove all the wiring...
@hugobazin80529 ай бұрын
Well if you consult my new video coming out tomorrow, you'll hear a driver talking about the trolleybus vs electric bus debate and get to see a cab ride with the newest battery bus... no cemetary along the the way unfortunately😂 and that joke made my day! It was brilliant!
