It's not new, 100 years before, they were also this careless. And trams were louder and they didn't use portable units with headphones yet, this miniaturization came after WW2 with the introduction of transistors.

@@hugobazin8052 I was once on a tram in Athens that got stopped by a mad woman who deliberately ran onto the tracks and started shouting at the driver. When the driver finally convinced her to move he was so frustrated that he gunned the throttle and briefly caused the wheels to spin.

Another lovely sunny day in Zurich. My goodness Hugo, you must know most of the tram drivers by their first names.😀😃😄

Hi An excellent video in one of my favourite cities. It would be better if the driver's dash panel were in the video so we can see the speed etc of the tram. Keep up the good work.
@hugobazin80523 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind feedback! I agree that it would be better and I do normally have more of the dadh in my newer videos, but depending on where I'm allowed to place my camera, and also the light coming into the cab, it's hard to see the speed :(

8:29 ist die Seilbahn auf der rechten Straßenseite? Braucht man für die Seilbahn eigentlich ein extra Ticket oder ist das Tram Ticket auch dort gültig?
@hugobazin80529 ай бұрын
Die Seilbahn Rigiblick ist das und nein, alle 3 Seilbahnen der ZVV inkl. Polybahn sind im normalen Zonentarif einbezogen

Thank you Hugo for another excellent video. Writing as a British observer of the the Swiss public transport paradise the most interesting point was at the Rigiblick stop. There a school party got on the tram! In Britain school classes only rarely go on 'trips', but when they do the school will hire a private bus/coach. In Switzerland schoolchildren seem to go on lots of trips, and almost always by public transport! All Swiss children will therefore have used normal public transport on a regular basis. USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS PART OF SWISS EDUCATION! And when they grow up they continue to use public transport on a regular basis!
@hugobazin80529 ай бұрын
Yes children grow being taught how to navigate around a busy city and also get trips on public transport... very early on in their lives they are relied upon to walk to school alone and then get public transport, barely anyone drives their kids to school! But groups on trains can be very noisy of course, which is the disadvantage for other passengers! Hope you liked the video :)

@@hugobazin8052 Your point 'very early on in their lives they are relied upon to walk to school alone and then get public transport, barely anyone drives their kids to school!' is of fundamental importance. Contrast that with Britain. A recent survey IN LONDON suggests that TWENTY-FIVE PER CENT OF London children under eleven years are driven to school!

Well no, a tram in that instance have the priority as it is up to pedestrians to look if a tram is coming and I guess this ome was just fed up with waiting for the never ending stream of people to stop...
@jmemusic4 ай бұрын
They turn on a blinking light to signalize that they are going to start. This driver also slightly touched a bell to warn the pedestrians and because some of them didn't so the light nor hear the first warning, he touched the bell stronger.
