The Mimic scare in Vita Carnis is one of my favorites from any web series purely for the fact that it sets itself up perfectly. It gives you this small glance at the creature's face, making it so you want to look closer to understand what it is you're seeing, only for it to come flying at you before you have any time to process it. Such a genuinely well crafted scene

Hello Pastra! Also yes the Mimic jump scare is pretty horrifying. But overall the creature with the most unnerving attributes for hunting is the harvester in my opinion.

The mimic episode really scared me, that jumpscare made me not only jump a lot, it also made me yelp, I normally just jump a little, the Mimic thing they made for the episode looks really good. Also the screams of the haversters victim kept me awake at night.

Something small but really good I enjoy about Vita Carnis is how they take the time to elaborate on how the Crawl actually slots itself into its environment. most movies would just full stop say "thus creature is evil and wants to end all life" whereas this series makes mention of how the Crawl and itsmorphs have become a vital piece if the Food Web--the Harvesters' kills are compost for surrounding plant life, while small herbivores benefit from the food and protection provided by them. this series hits basically all the strokes of my favorite subgenre of Cosmic(?) Horror where nature seems to "rebel" against humanity and remind us that we're not special, just one species out of billions who have come and gone, and nature won't bat an eye when we disappear.
@tacoblude8208 Жыл бұрын
My theory is that the crawl was created by the earth as a defensive mechanism to get rid of the parasite destroying it. It appears on earth, identifies the culprit (in this case humans) and then spawns the rest, who are specialised to wipe out humanity.

There's Nothing is scarier than **Meat Creatures** not even joking i've had *nightmares* of a Mimic just lurking and watching me by my doorway to my room. Freaking terrifying so thanks Vita Carnis for giving me said nightmares. All jokes aside, i love this series and all the care it went into it like the Puppets from the Mimic Video and the how to take care of Trimming Video. (We all know what they were going for with the Meatsnakes if you know you know)

Love how the creator of VC actually gave me nightmares of a Mimic encounter I had a dream where a VHS tape was playing before me and it showed many pictures of Mimic ppl hiding behind things and when it came to a tree I recognized in a cemetery, I heard running sounds and woke up screaming “Fuck no” while waving my arms out. Luckily my mom was there to wake me up and comfort me(kinda)

DMuted will never be able to escape the mimic. But in all seriousness, I think one of the best things about this series is the world building. Vita Carnis does a very good job at showing how these creatures not only affect humans but also show how they are integrated with the ecosystem. The way he integrated each monster in a realistic fashion is truly amazing to me. Even if some of them are silly (*cough cough* Meat snake) I love the way Darian Quilloy made it so that the monsters not only had the potential to be a useful tool and ally, like the meat snake or the crawl itself, but they also had the potential to be a very real and dangerous threat, like the mimics or the hosts. This series is truly one of my favorite analog horror series and I love how Darian crafted everything. I can't wait to see what comes out of it next. 🎉🎉

To me, vita carnis reminds me of the creatures from the dead space universe: necromorph, they constantly evolve and no one is safe from becoming one.

Ok, so, the part about zombies that scares me is the fact that I can’t see the people as “dead.” They’re walking around and they feel alive, so I see it as the person is helpless as they watch themselves murder other people and eat them. The idea of being unable to stop myself as I kill mercilessly scares me to death, because if zombies were real, I’d be with my best friends, that I see as siblings in a way. I should probably stop thinking about this!
@dowsingelf773 ай бұрын
That's an interesting take tbh. I hate zombies because a) lack of sentience, there's no appeal with them, b) their drone mind to keep coming unless you manage to down them the first time, c) if you get infected by one, you're pretty much without hope.

I really love this series, but I also have to blame It for a fear It gave me. Sometimes when Im up late, usually everyone In my house Is asleep, I will suddently remember the mimic and become extremetely paranoid about a mimic stalking me and eating me while Im sleeping. I always have to remind myself they are not real. I think at this point this showed me how good of a series Is vita carnis, good story and also good scares.
@williamswensenmotta1692 Жыл бұрын
The scariest monster in the entire series by FAR for me, is the Host. The fear of loss of control simply scares the shit out of me. That your friend who said they had a headache may be walking to their death soon after making some fucking pasta is terrifying. Really the most underrated monster in the series.
@leoisaki Жыл бұрын
I think a key aspect of the horror of this series that wasn’t fully touched on in this video is the fear of the unknown. Most of the monsters featured are completely unexplainable. You can’t quite wrap you’re head around how they work or what their motives are besides utter evil and feasting to continue living. I think this is what makes these monsters so effective. If they had backstories and motivations, viewers could create strategies and plans to defeat them, but we’re left utterly clueless as to how we could stand a chance against them.

Not really, no, as said in the story book, some scientists found the dormant body of some eldritch creature(Vita Carnis) and asked of it to help with over-population, so, I'm guessing the eldritch conscience that attached itself to that body will(According to the singularity.) will bring it's full body down to earth to take in most of the population for bio-mass then it will leave earth, typical cosmic horror analog horror type of stuff, so, the best thing to do is to try our best to destroy the monoliths and the cult at all costs, the faster, the better, as easy as that, then after that is done just destroy the singularity and the mindless mass of flesh that is left of the vita-carnis.

Honestly i feel like the danger hosts pose is greatly overstated. It takes several hours after you inhale their spores to actually take effect, and before that happens, you have plenty of advance warning(the symptoms) to restrain yourself or get to the hospital. They're really not that dangerous.

not REALLY related, but if you're looking for zombie horror where one zombie CAN do serious damage, check out kabaneri of the iron fortress. pretty short anime series, the zombies are superhuman in strength, durability, and on occasion, speed. rare variants even retain skills with weapons, and they're capable of basic cooperation and strategizing, as shown when they work together to control a train. the hive mind stuff gets way more intense later in a way that like... on further thought, draws attention to the nature of the zombies, but sadly the series is too short to explore it fully.

I love horror series that worldbuilds, that gets you glimpses of how people interact with those fears in day to day life. Because if you're just simply watching or listening to said thing happening it might just feel like another thing to watch and shut down for the night(even if it's nightmare inducing jdgd) But if you're seeing people reacting to it, talking about it, making life go by they through it, it feels real. It feels like you're watching the new or TV or scrolling through social media of they world and seeing what life to life is like when there's monsters always at your door. I think that's way stuff like Welcome to Nightvale(which is more comedy horror but still-) connects to others so easily. It makes you feel like you're a part of it more. That you're sitting down around the radio going "woo we survived that disaster" It makes you feel for those in that world, and that's important. Because it's one thing to watch video of a monster running at you, another of seeing 'how to survive' 'sightings so far' 'We lost our son Jerry to this thing!' 'How to cook with this being!' I just love that kinda stuff ^^
