I always assumed Phyllis was the one who wrote that angry bulletin board post because she's always got this hateful attitude and works the night shift at the Post Office (which is when the fireworks happen). I remember getting that one a lot during fireworks season and I know for certain I never wrote it myself 🤣

Yeah I think it's the Miller Family (the kids/maybe parent?) of Irvine CA & that's the naming convention. Reaper, prob just cause kid's gonna kid. Blythe after the Blythe dolls. George & Mick are most likely the actual kid's names, but George could be named after a fair few number of books/shows.

12:04 I recognize that NES Link with Triforce pattern, that came from an E-Reader card from Nintendo Power magazine. The "Hero's Tunic," and "Triforce" tile, and Slider tour shirt pattern were also featured in Nintendo Power, though you had to copy them from a page reference, if I remember correctly. Guess they were a longtime Nintendo Power magazine subscriber like I was. I miss the original "Froggy chair" croak sound, (sadly New Horizons got rid of it, though brought back Faith as the highest number Amiibo card character oddly) though some may argue it may be better suited for sitting on the toilet items.

To answer about the custom patterns-STRATEGY GUIDES! Back when those were common, they would have a few pages of cool patterns, and you would just manually copy them into the game pixel by pixel. The Wild World guide had that specific Link sprite in it, bc I remember copying it down on my save!

Hi Kay! I was so surprised when you sat in the Froggy Chair and hadn't heard the Froggy Chair noise! It was really adorable that you caught your genuinely surprised reaction when you sat in the chair. I was *so* bummed out when we finally got the Froggy Chair in New Horizons and it didn't make the sound. I also was very shocked at how creeptastic Candi the mouse looked in the game! I never had her as a neighbor, but I have to say, she doesn't look as creepy pictured in my original Nintendo Power Gamecube Animal Crossing guide book, which I still have. There are 10 designs in the guide I have that you could copy to make clothes with in the game, it even lists the palette to use to create the design. There aren't any Nintendo themes or floors or anything like that in the guide, though. I'm curious if they listed designs in Nintendo Power Magazine? That Link design was amazing! And yes, the only Irvine I am familiar with is the city in Orange County, CA which was about 20 minutes more inland from the coast where I grew up!

I don't remember the patterns being downloadable, but there were tons available on line an in nintendo magazine that you could copy into your game. You'd just look up the pattern and then make it in yours.

Oh, you just unlocked a memory with that gameboy. This game actually broke mine, using that card reader attachment thingie was really heavy and it actually pulled the gameboy slightly apart. After a while the screen stopped working.

So what I remember from custom patterns for the original game is people would post online a how to on how to make them. I use to upload designs on animal crossing websites. It is also how I got town tunes.

Thought about the patterns -- I had a game guide for ACWW that had some common Nintendo franchise patterns (MArio, Pokemon, etc). The guide contained a grid to show you how to make the patterns. It's possible these players had guides that had the grid pattern for that link!

I just started playing the GameCube animal crossing (this week). My museum also has the "pac-man' water on the corner. I tried growing a golden tree, and a money tree but they both died. I also planted two fruits, but only one is growing. I obviously don't have any luck with trees in the acgc. But to be fair (I guess?), my town is starting to look a bit overun with trees. I should probably chop some down...but I only have a limited time to play, and there's *so* much to do in the game (and so many freaking rocks).

Love this video series. If you're gonna keep playing AC on your gamecube, you might consider fixing the clock since it's so easy. It's a super easy fix, it's a button battery soldered to the inside of the cube. If you or anyone you know knows how to hold a soldering iron that's literally all it takes.

As soon as Cube appeared on the screen, got scared. I just saw two eyes with crosses in them appear from the darkness. His head matched the background, so it unnerved me. LOL Even the spotlight above him did nothing to help it. o__o I love your animal crossing town visit videos. maybe they just weren't good at decorating? my new horizons island and house don't look too dissimilar to this and i have several hundred hours... just don't have an eye for that stuff, my main room has like. a cabinet, a couple cool things, and a workbench. then i have a bedroom with a bed and a lava lamp and a fossil rug. my back room is a jungle wall and floor room with a single toilet in the middle

Do just automatically assume someone with a completed museum cheated? I still have my AC gamecube memory card. I have a 100% completed town. All fully paid off 4 characters and completed museum. And I didn’t cheat! I didn’t even have a phone or anything to look up the times and tips for catching anything! I caught every fish and bug legit no guide. Some people like me were pretty dedicated to this game lol. I played it for hours and hours for days, months, years.

Irvine is also a town in Scotland - but it's pronounced like "er-vin". I'm guessing the "Miller's Irvine" was actually a reference to George's family name.
