I maintain that there should be a "Fairly Odd Parents... KAI", an attempt to condense the series to a single coherent narrative, removing the fluff and padding and inconsistencies. I mean, Timmy begins as you point out: willing to help others, wanting to make even someone as terrible a person as Remy happy. But every time Timmy tries to help people, either The Rules deny it or it turns bad. He gets told explicitly by his parents that they wish he was never born, and Jargon confirms this with the FOP's take on "It's a Wonderful Life".
@nationalinstituteofcheese3012Ай бұрын
No wonder he became more selfish down the line. Also the duel likely functions based on strict technically and if there’s no explicit rule about it, it’s free to go

Even Princess Morbucks as snobby and stuck up as she was got attention from her father. Remy’s parents could care less! Oh yeah, I think Juandisismo was saying, “A life without principles is not a life at all” as a justification for not wanting to go against Da Rules.

@@DuskTillShawn no problem! I come from a Latin American family, so I can understand what the characters are saying whenever I’m watching Spanish TV and such. If you can believe it, there’s all kinds of dialects in Spanish as well so it’s not always easy. Lol. But yeah. I’d say that Princess got spoiled so much by her father he never said no to anything she did enabling her bad behavior further. Godparents are meant to be stand-in’s for your real parents so that’s why Chester never got one. His dad was loving and kind. I will say Remy saying Timmy had two parents and godparents who love him is really sad because it seems like the show forgets Timmy isn’t the child of good parents. Either way, at least we see his parents show some love despite being neglectful and useless. Remy’s life make’s Timmy’s seem like paradise. The fact he lost his godparent is so unfair Edit: I just realized that Remy’s parents may have inadvertently taught Remy that money was more important than friendship or love or companionship. So he puts money above all. What I wonder is why Remy hated Timmy despite it being made clear Timmy never met Remy before. How did he find out about Timmy and what made him think Timmy had good parents?
@EmbalmerEmiАй бұрын
"A life without principles isn't worth living" is roughly what Wandisimo said which lines up since he repeated the same sentiment in English later on. Also the "Perro" line is a misunderstanding, what he said was "Pero" which means "but",I know it's confusing since they look and sound similar but mean completely different things.

I found it a bit weird that Juandissimo showed up randomly on that island. Perhaps it happened only for the gag, but maybe he truly cared for Remy and was watching over him from a distance? Otherwise, I would assume he would just go to live in the fairy world, or already be a godfather to another kid.
@Neku628Ай бұрын
I guess, Juandissimo got attached to Remy more so than any other godkids he's had over the centuries. Heck, Juandissimo probably stuck with Remy because he would always be closer to his ex-girlfriend. Juandissimo seems like a pretty shallow character for how obsessed he is with wanting Wanda back. Yet, he can be selfless. His selflessness with wanting to be with Remy, it was pretty short-lived.

@vm141789Ай бұрын
I don’t think so. A lot of fans like to portray Helga as the most tragic character in animation, but that really isn’t the case. Big Bob and Miriam weren’t the greatest, but they had some redeeming qualities. Not enough to make them good, but enough to make them better than others. Plus, Helga had a very loving sister in Olga. Building off that, I find it funny that some fans try to villainize Olga when, if you look at it from an objective perspective, Helga was the bad sister to Olga, doing things to her out of spite and envy with Olga actually forgiving her for them.

You did an amazing job on this video! When looking back at Remy's story in the original Fairly Oddparents it was sad to see how all Remy wanted was to be able to have his parents home more and spend time with him. His jealousy towards Timmy for Timmy getting to see his parents all the time and godparents that both loved him just showed how much deeper his character was just wanting his parents to care. I love how the sequel series "A New Wish" expands more upon this with Dev's story arc throughout the season.

4:24 Side note: Interestingly, one of my favorite shows, Big City Greens, would come out years later and feature a character named Remy…who is rich, but unlike here, BCG’s Remy is generally a lot nicer to his friends (particularly his best friend Cricket) despite his high social status, and his parents do shower him with the things he wants…but they also have lots of love for him and still have his well-being in mind, despite being out of their mansion home a lot and at work often because of their riches. And honestly having your videos being so calming to me, and comforting really helps me get through some of the chemo treatments so thank you. What made Remy sadder not only did he take all his frustration out On Timmy, he genuinely believed that Juandissimo didn't care about him it's like he said "Why do you have Parents AND Godparents that love you and I don't"
@SageArdorАй бұрын
Nah, the emphasis in Remy's statement is on "and". Remy knows his godparent loves him, but he's bitter that Timmy seems to have both parents AND love him, while with Remy it's just one of the two.

I can actually see why the magical duel could be a thing. Imagine two kids with fairies constantly at each other’s throats. It could be chaos. While it might be more reasonable to just take away both of their fairies for improper use, maybe the fairy council found it better to create the magical duel to leave only one kid miserable. All that said, this episode and the stadium certainly didn’t portray it that way.

I think the reason faries gather in excitement for magical duels is because it doesnt happen often. Its such a rare occurence that when it happens, they’re gonna jump on it
@Sonicsgirl13Ай бұрын
I believe that the magical duel was made as a sort of safety net for children that are malicious and awful despite how miserable they are. Not kids like Remy but like the kids in Cosmo and Wanda's Hall of bad God kids. However, it was made open for all children with fairies that want to do said challenge. I do feel like it is a test or an obstacle for God kids to go through to see how they are as people after receiving and having fairy God parents. Basically, it's to see if said God child has become a better person with fairies or has gotten spoiled rotten and/or haven't grown much at all as a good person. It's to keep all of fairy world and it's magic safe from those who abuse said power. There's rules for a reason.

Remy is definitely a multifaceted character. His perception of what he could do/get away with has definitely been influenced by the fact he has money, but looking deeper at the situation, it could also be a cry for help to cover the pain of having neglectful parents. Juandissimo alone can't fill the void of actual parent who love you, no matter how genuine Juandissimo's love for Remy is. With Remy parent's, it speaks to how neglectful his parents, more specifically his father is, with the fact they only spend 2 minutes per day with him. His father can't even remember what kind of relationship he has with Remy, showing just how uninterested he is in his own son. That must sting for Remy in ways only children from neglectful households could understand. While it's not necessarily an excuse, it paints Remy's situation in a whole new light.
@DuskTillShawnАй бұрын
🎯 Always with the spot on analysis, my man. It is interesting to think about how Juandissimo is towards Remy as well... I mean, Timmy got Cosmo and Wanda who have a ton of love for each other, but they also have enough love for Timmy as well. Juandissimo on the other hand, feels like he barely has enough love leftover after showering himself constantly with it haha. Even when he had to say goodbye to Remy there wasn't even a tear shed lol. It makes me feel bad for Remy because it seems like the Fairy who's supposed to help fill that void left from lack of parental love, loves himself more than his own Godchild.

After looking up the word “perro” I think that with the way how Wandesimo is written that the word actually has a double meaning. Wandesimo is both referring to Remy in an endearing term as in a buddy and to the fact Remy will eventually be a player in several areas of life. He’s wealthy, well-educated and good-looking. In addition to that his parents are probably well-known in high society and have connections in high places, so social networking should be less of a problem. So it’s likely that Wandesimo’s use of the word “perro” is more in a positive way than a negative one as it seems to be used more in a warm and supportive way.
