The best umpires are the ones who call the game and no one knows they are there. I always remembered the good umps names!!! I played and had some terrible umps but I can sure remember the good ones who controlled the game and we all had fun. Make no mistake they had complete control but they were never arrogant nor bulling. They carried themselves with that air that let you know but we always enjoyed playing when they were the crew. We could play the game and not worry about their self importance getting in the way of the game. I will always respect them!!!
