Although it is not a commercial I remember riding in the front seat with my Dad of his 1940 Plymouth. As we turned the corner to the left the right door swung open. My Dad grabbed me and pulled me to him. As he stopped the door swung shut. After making sure it was closed, off we went. Me still sitting in the passenger seat. This must have been around 1956 or so.

The Infiniti rollout, done by a Boston ad agency, was a complete flop. Not only did they drag out the nature theme, but by the time people saw what the cars looked like there was mass disappointment since they weren't unique (looking). What people pictured in their heads was not what they were being sold. Meanwhile, at the same time, Lexus was telling consumers why a $35K Japanese luxury car was better than a $70K German one . . . and the rest is history.
@benjaminrobinson3842

7:18 - I remember when those Infiniti ads first appeared. It was a campaign born of necessity; the car was not ready for sale, but Nissan didn't want to concede the emerging Japanese import luxury market to Lexus. To work around this limitation, their ad agency conceived of a car ad without any cars, designed to build a somewhat vague image of luxury, craftmanship, and other good qualities that Nissan hoped would transfer to their new car line. To be honest, it wasn't a *bad* idea, but the timing was way off. The campaign started months before we got to see any cars, people pretty sick of them by the time the proper introduction date rolled around. So much for image building!

I miss the Good Old Days when you could custom order your car and the factory would have it ready and shipped in like 2-8 weeks. My Saturn Ion 3 took like 2 weeks. And the Corsica commercial; a REALLY NICE car, btw; reminds me of "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1977)" when Richard Dreyfuss was "scanned" in his work truck. DUDE, That SsangYong truck pulling an atm is Happening FOR REAL but with stolen Grand Cherokees like Several Times a Night in Chicago so much it's the New Pandemic!! I'm not a fan of foreign cars but the Infiniti commercial's Kinda cool like it's saying "Come take this Magic Carpet Ride" which is EXACTLY what late 20th century luxury cars were!! My buddy Frankie "Sidestreets" had a Nice Infiniti. The Honda commercial is rated PG if you behave like a Gentleman on the first date.👩‍❤‍👨That thing driving the LeSabre looks like the thing in "Videodrome (1983)". Now the Plymouth Sundance and Sundance Duster commercial???...Hysterical!!!😁🤣Jesus, Mr. GHD! Haven't you Generation Y & Z'ers taken your date to the neighborhood "makeout spot" in a car back in high school or early college??!? In most places it was nicknamed "Promontory Point". In my 'hood it was the parking lot at McKinley Park.😈😈Now That was rated.....NeverMind!😎😎 I REALLY Miss those "Plymouth, An Intelligent Machine" commercials from the 90's. Plymouth Laser with A.W.D. standard. Colt Vista wagon........... And Remember!!: DON'T drive your Grand Cherokee thru CHICAGO!!!!!😎

1:48 Man, showing your car breaking down in your ad. It's amazing the Corsica wasn't an absolute sales success. (Actually bothering to look into it, it was. Good on Chevy then) But you are correct about the production being on point. Also while I don't have a fear of clowns, do gotta give you it in those pic. The first looks like he's giving wrong directions on Purpose, you can't convince me the second one isn't Pennywise, and forth is just a little too John Wayne Gacey feeling.

John 3 16-21! 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

4:20 Those car seats, with the two "U" brackets over the seat, and a kid sitting there with a little tray for some cheerios or cookies, and a "play" steering wheel ... those were VERY popular when I was young. And our two-door '54 Ford Station wagon had a bench seat (of course) with the seat-backs "split," allowing them to move forward to allow access to the back seat ... so the kid seat would simply lean forward with the seatback ... and my little sister's forehead would touch the metal dash. Yes, that's ALL true.

7:00 LOL you youngins just don't understand how quickly cars wore out just 30-40 years ago. A Toyota from the 80's with 100k on it is like a Toyota from today with 350k. Remember that kid's! Those cars will wear out just sitting. The first car I ever bought for myself was a 1985 Mercury Capri with the 5.0 Ho and some fun bits and I had fun in that car but I treated it like the beautiful woman made of crystal. You can get rough with her, you just got to know what you're doing so as to not break her. Well one night I hopped in the car to head home from the bar and when I gingerly pulled on the headlight switch, the whole thing just fell apart in my hand. I could hardly believe it. Pretty much all the cars from the early 90's back are like that. Until you get to the years where they don't use much or any plastic but then they have their own issues.
