Most of these were my most skipped moments. My most rewound moments (I taped it on video) were Gabby waking from her nightmare in OAAA and the hickey in BTDT. ADITL had so many I just had to rewind the whole episode. And all the kissing and X & G in the tub moments were worth a rewind every time. ;)

Gods I LOVED Xena! At the time, being 15+ I really only believed it was the depths and difficulties of their relationship that kept me coming back. And I’m hindsight, it was. But I ALWAYS hoped that they would truly consummate their “are they/aren’t they” relationship on screen. Knowing now what I didn’t THEN, I had no idea the networks were so anal about same-sex relationships. My moms best friends were lesbians. As I got older and realized I was attracted to women as well as men, my fascination with Xena and Gabrielle’s relationship was also based on how absolutely, utterly sensual it was. Some of my oldest friends swear they knew I was gay before I did and maybe they did….it was always the dark-haired vixens I seemed to gravitate toward; Lucy Lawless, Nancy Kerrigan, Kate Beckinsale (as Selene of course) that I found myself being a “fan girl” over. 😂 So today I see this video and remember fondly growing up and catching this classics, iconic 90s TV show on Saturday’s morning on WGN and then in syndication on USA. And I smile. ASI sit next to my wife of five years, I reminisce and smile at how far we’ve all come and how lucky I was to have had such strong, intelligent (albeit goofy), dynamic and sexy women icons who paved the way for me TO BE ABLE to sit here with my wife. Thank you Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor for the entertainment, the memories and for the legacy in being a stepping stone for young queer girls.
