I have wide flat feet and have recently started getting more serious about my shoes. Last time I went to a running shoe store they told me the 860’s, hoka gaviota, and brooks beasts are really the only shoes I should be wearing as dailies, as well as to the gym. Obv the 860’s are the most stylish so I’m hoping to switch to these as my dailies next spring.

Just got the 860v12 and never really had new balance I'm usually an asics guy. These are so soft and have a nice role off the toe. Loving them!

Yes I can confirm that the upper black lining is fuel cell foam. It makes for a great added springiness to the shoe, if minimal.

I actually work in these as a Postman. I find I like the v11s better but the v12 is more classic design for the 860. And I run through these shoes really quickly lol.

So I have an older pair of New Balance 517s. They are black with neon green/yellow highlights that I’ve used more as a utility shoe. Like when I’m doing chores, mucking around, even mowing the lawn. So they are pretty gross. We’ll, when I saw some of these videos I realized the value of New Balance. So I gave them a good wash, scrubbed them down to clean, threw on some white laces with green end caps, and bang! They look so dope! My wife thought I bought a new pair of shoes, an expensive pair at that. They look that good. It is actually amazing how a good pair of laces properly done up can enhance the look of a shoe. The shoe had standard black rope laces originally. But the shoe looks so mush better with these white flat laces. It looks like it’s how they were meant to be. I usually like to contrast the laces with the tongue. It really makes the shoe stand out. Now the green end caps aren’t a perfect match to the shoes neon green highlights, but they do work. I wish KZbin comments had a photo option. Because you wouldn’t believe the difference between how these shoes before refurbishing compared to how they look now. I’m so excited!

I prefer my Asics Kayano 24s, but my gf SWEARS by the 860 v11. She LOVES her shoes and literally wears it everyday. I got her the v12, its arriving soon, hopefully she likes it just as much

I got 860 v7s and I have wore them to the bone, but that's only because they were my daily drivers for a long time. EDIT 9/22/22: I got the V12 on Sunday and I'm loving how they feel. My feet feel great and, with my insoles, prevent the ball of my foot from hurting after staying on my feet for long periods of time.

Are those 860v12s the "Mountain Teal with Sulphur Yellow" color on the New Balance store? If they are the pictures on the store seem like the blue is brighter but on here it seems the blue is darker than what the pictures show. Thanks!

We gotta look past all the company labeling for their "Foam TECH". "FF Blast +" sounds better than "More squishy" :)) But thats all it is. More or less "squishy". :) And unless you have joint problems I don't think any one NEEDS "Max cushion---ultra squishy" foam shoes. ....because you sacrifice any stablity....dont actually want your feet to be moving around side to side when you walk or run....heh.....or crazy high "stack height".... Think about sports car tire design and why they put "low profile wide" tires on sports cars and "high profile" tires on sedans/SUV's. Different "driving goal" or feel.....comfort means less road feel...less stick to the road when corner. Most guys should know this. So if we follow the same thinking....we want a shoe with LOW stack height and a dirmness in foam yet responsive. ....not too much foam under the forefoot....esseentially a "race flat" desgin. :) Companies have shoe nerds wanting "max cushion and high stack height" e.g. New Balance SC Trainer (47mm heel, Adidas Prime X 50mm heel....both illegal for elite runners to use in compeetition....and are tiwsted angles waiting to happen...). Ccompanies have to sell shoes so.....if they can get runners to believe they need a "rotation of shoes" and an expensive "race shoe" with a 40mm heel/carbon palte/see through mesh upper....put it on the fastests mans foot....he gets new usb 2HR record....runners see, wannabe like...buy similar shoes....etc chaCHING$$$$

You nailed it. I chose the 680 over the 880 because the midsole is not as squishy. Tarahumara Indian long distance runners tried modern running shoes. They tossed them and went back to hand made sandals made out of firm scrap car tire soles. Running on soft grass or sand is exhausting and works weak bones and muscles not normally engaged during daily activities. Squishy soles mimic those conditions somewhat.

Oofos are overpriced. They're squishy, but nothing that a similar Amazon brand can't replicate exactly at a third of the price. I paid $70 for clogs that were squishy, but also got $18 slides from Amazon that felt exactly the same.

Real talk, what am* I watching, a Hes kicks video or did Zappos start making "review" videos longer than 2 minutes? Let's go down the list: Squishy midsole? No Proprietary foams? No Relevance to sneaker culture? No Crazy interesting design/concept? No Collaboration? No Any real relevance to either the casual or performance wearer? No So what's the point of this video? I get that NB is sending you free shoes, but this video is a sign that you're losing your focus and turning into nothing more than a salesperson disguised as a sneaker enthusiast channel. There's nothing to be enthused about with this shoe. Do a video on the Nike Quest 3 next. I'm sure the people that have come to rely on you for relevant content and associate you with more than just a glorified commercial for midtier shoes will love that.

I mention i still prefer 1080v11 personally, but for those that are deep in the NB running world or new to it and want to learn more this would be helpful type vid imo. I watched a video about an unremarkable sneaker that has zero relevance the culture, nor does it match any other shoes in your past videos in terms of any of the checklist I provided. Yes, you did bring up other shoes, but this video wasn't about any of those shoes. If anything, having to bring up any of those other shoes proves my observation more, which is NB sent you a boring shoe that doesn't check any boxes that your channel usually focuses on. Yes, it's unreleased, but an unreleased boring model is just a boring model that hasn't been put out for anyone to not care about. And yes, there was deception. People have come to rely on you for a certain style of coverage, and that comes with a responsibility. So when you make a video about a boring shoe that you definitely won't wear for more than a few days because there are clearly better models out there, you're influencing people towards a shoe that you yourself aren't even all that hyped about. At the end of the day, all I'm saying is, these shoes are wack, and you know it, yet you have them shine because they were gifted to you. There's nothing about them that coincides with anything you've covered in the past, and if you were truly honest with yourself, you would admit that these wouldn't be your first, second, third, fourth or even fifth pick when walking out the door, regardless of the activity.

I've watched you review Skechers that look like boost and seen you do a complete 180 on the brand based on their Hyperburst. You're taking criticism from someone who's watched and respected your growth, and am merely pointing out that in all my time watching, this is honestly the first video that has felt like you're misleading your audience. You say it all the time, yours is the casual perspective, and yet you defend your putting the shoe on because it has a large following and people can use it for everything and anything...but at the end of the day, the question is, is that shoe something you find worthy for your feet? Your followers follow you because they respect your opinion. They try what you recommend, and they are swayed by your words. If you can honestly say that these shoes are worth anyone's time, despite ALL the other shoes out there that fill that same niche that are more comfy/cooler/mushier, then I'll shut up. It's your channel and it's your brand. But speaking as someone who's bought multiple shoes because of YOUR advice and because I respect your take (EQT 93/17, ZX2KBoost, Rebel V2, Nike Cruzrone, 990 v5, etc etc), I find this particular spotlight kinda iffy.

@@RetroKid appreciate the feedback, i chose to do this review and comparison to other nb shoes it was my choice. This was a shoe i wanted to try for the delta, meaning if i know i like XYZ models, will i like these and the answer is yes, its a great all around shoe comparable to the nike pegasus 38 (which i have reviewed like 5 versions of) but these were new to me. These are work horse shoes as i mention great all around tred, durable, but not max cushion, for that i choose 1080, vongo, or more v3. I understand what U saying tho and will try to clarify my pov more so its more transparent to u and anyone else that may feel this way
