Nice bike, I bought the S17 for the upgrades it offers over the S18. FedEx destroyed my first S17 and damaged the second, don't accept delivery if the shipping container show signs of abuse.

1500W PEAK is HALF the story. It only puts out 80 Nm torque (NOT 85!) and output is only 750W sustained (average power) The torque is above average of 72, but the battery is only 15Ah at 48V. There are bikes out there with 20-22 Ah large batteries. At 77 lbs., the bike is on the very heavy end for weight. Compare it to: Ariel Kepler Fat Tire E-bike 52V 20 Ah 1000W $1900 73 lbs. or the PHILODO H7 Pro Fat Bike 26 Inch 1000W 82Nm, 48V 17.5Ah, $1300 68.3 lbs. Invest the time to make comparisons and find the bike at the right power level, battery capacity, and price point for you. This bike has good looks on it's side, but a 750W motor combined with a weaker than average 15 Ah and only 48V will limit its range considerably. The full suspension is good, but the brakes are weak mechanical brakes. The motor is direct drive motor is good for speed on roads, but weak for slower speeds offroad and hills.

Thank you for the education. I am just getting into Ebikes and my wife and I will be riding Ecotric leopards this season. As an engineer I love learning about the technology and the "reality checks" that you have presented. I will learn what I NEED, and see what machine fits my needs. Thank you too ManShed.

@@tufstone5993 All of the Chinese e-bikes are similar, but when you shell out $2K, you want to choose the one with the options you want. TailHappyTV has dozens of e-bike video reviews. I'm looking at either the Ariel Kepler $1900 or the new Wired Freedom $2000 as a potential buy because of their range and power because I want to take it on trails as well as pavement.

@@larryguevara3350 If you want LOTS of power, check out the Wired Freedom. 62 volt battery, and it can do 38 mph, more if downhill. It has less range than touring bikes, but it's built to RAGE offroad, and it's around $2100.

Lever position?
@JohnnytheBikeGuySLC Жыл бұрын
You do NOT "set the handlebars to your desired position". The brake levers have a very specific angle that needs to be set as outlined by the CPSC guidelines. The way you have it is a serious safety issue.
@ultimatetreatmentzonephysi1890 Жыл бұрын
Per Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) “What are the requirements for steering systems? (1) The handlebar stem must withstand a force of 450 lbf (225 lbf for sidewalk bicycles) in a forward direction 45 degrees from the stem centerline when tested according to §1512.18(g). The handlebar stem must have a permanent mark or circle showing the minimum depth that the stem must be inserted into the bicycle fork. That mark must be located a distance of at least 2 ½ times the diameter of the stem from the bottom of the stem, and must not affect the strength or integrity of the stem. (2) Handlebars should be symmetrical on either side of the stem. The handlebar ends should be no more than 16 inches above the seat when the seat is in its lowest position and the handlebars are in their highest position. (3) The ends of the handlebars must be capped or covered. Grips, plugs, and other devices mounted on the ends must not come off when a force of 15 lbf is applied. See §1512.18(c) for this test. (4) When the handlebar/stem assembly is twisted with a torque of 35 ft-lb (15 ft-lb for sidewalk bicycles), it must not move or show any signs of damage. When the handlebars are twisted with the stem being held firmly, the handlebars must support a force of 100 lbf or absorb no less than 200 inch pounds of energy while bending no more than 3 inches. During this test, the handlebars must be tight enough so that they do not turn in the handlebar clamp. After the test, they cannot show any visible sign of breaking. See §1512.18(h) for these tests.” 🤷🏼♂️Looks safe to me…

Maybe I’m missing it? Brake angle? Per CPSC. “What are the requirements for brakes? Bicycles must have front and rear brakes, or rear brakes only. Sidewalk bikes may not have hand brakes only. Sidewalk bikes with a seat height of 22 inches or more when adjusted in the lowest position must have a foot brake. A sidewalk bike with a seat height of less than 22inches need not have any brake as long as it does not have a freewheeling feature, has a permanent label saying “No brakes”, and has the same statement on its advertising and shipping cartons. Please refer to §§ 1512.5(e) and 1512.18(f) of the regulation for more detail on sidewalk bicycle brake performance and labeling. (1) Hand brakes: (a) When tested, hand brakes may not break, fail, or have clamps that move or parts that go out of alignment. To test the brakes, push the hand lever all the way down to the handlebar or with a force of 100 pounds (lbf) and then load test the bicycle, or rock it back and forth with a 150-pound weight on the seat. §1512.18(d)(2) contains the procedures for loading and rocking testing. (b) Hand levers have to be on the handlebars and readily usable. The distance between middle of a hand lever and the handlebar may be no wider than 3 ½ inches (3 inches for levers on sidewalk bicycles). Unless a customer specifies otherwise, the hand lever that operates the rear brake must be on the right handlebar. The lever that operates the front brake must be on the left handlebar. A lever that operates both brakes may be on either handlebar. Please note that, if a bicycle has hand lever extensions, all tests are conducted with the extensions in place. (c) A bicycle that only has hand brakes must stop within 15 feet when tested with a 150-pound rider riding at 15 miles per hour. See §1512.18(d) for more detail on this test. (d) When the hand lever is pushed down with 10 pounds or less applied 1 inch from the end of the lever, the brake pads must contact the braking surface on the wheel. Caliper brake pads must be replaceable and adjustable. Pads must stay in their holders without movement when a 150-pound rider rocks the bicycle forward and backward. See §1512.18(d)(2) for this test. (e) Brake assemblies must be securely fastened to the bicycle frame with locking devices such as lock washers or locknuts, and must not loosen during the rocking test, §1512.18(d)(2). Brake pad holders must be securely attached to the caliper assemblies.” Need to ensure we all stay safe! 👍

What kind of battery is that LG or Samsung ?if other what are the quality of that battery ?
@kevinnashskitchen3517 Жыл бұрын
I hate to sound like Debbie Downer but... I'm wondering what the actual nominal wattage is and actual peak wattage is? I'm gonna say it's 750-800 watts peaking at 1,500. If that were a true 1,500 watt motor they would include both numbers and peak would be over 2,000 watts.. The battery is very small for the motor and 20 miles looks to be about max range when using lots of throttle.

I bought this bike last weekend. I'm not very happy with it. For one, I'm 5'9 (170lbs) and I have to climb up the damn thing to get on it. My dad is 6'0, and it's too big for him, too. So unless you're like 6'3 or taller, I wouldn't recommend it. Also, it doesn't have enough power to climb a small hill in my yard. Very disappointing. After 4 miles, I have for sale on marketplace.

Love the bike design kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube.All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.

Most of these eBike manufacturers are building crap, because you will buy it, and they will take your money. Realize, motorcycle manufacturers can give perfect quality for $2000. Because it’s expected. Expect more. Only buy quality eBikes, and let the junk sit. As long as we buy junk, China will keep taking your money. Get smarter. We need a buyers ratings guide. Then, we can buy what works well, and has great fit and finish too.

These e-bikes look good, and perform okay. But the two I am stuck with both arrived seriously damaged. It took an act of God to receive replacement parts. Neither bike ever was right, and both battery chargers failed repeatedly. Bike #1 ended up being replacement parts for bike #2. Luckily, I sold bike #2 yesterday for a fraction of what I paid. The rest of this mistake sits in a pile of rubbish I will recycle for scrap. These bikes, this company, my ordeal with Aostirmotor is and was crap. Spend your money elsewhere.

Garbage. I have 2 of them, and they are so heavy, that you can't do anything with them. Brakes can not handle it if you are mountain biking down hill. Unsure if I got duds, but on flat road the S17 blows past it every time. I have to be at level 4-5 to keep up with the 17 at level 2. Battery does not fit well in either of them. Resulted in a broken key....inside the battery. No tail light. Love AO bikes, but the smaller bikes are much better in my opinion. My least favorite of all the AO bikes.
