Interesting thing to note about the melded Titania is that her last ability doesn't say "target noncreature land" like most effects like it so you can stack counters on a single land if you don't want to make lots of your lands creatures.

Something about Liberator I saw happen on Arena that I would love to see built around was casting Deal Gone Bad pumping it to 3/4 , but targeting Liberator giving it -3/-3 making it a 0/1 until end of turn, then casting a 1 and a 2 cost giving it two more counters then when the turn passed and the -3/-3 went away it was a 5/6. Imagine a commander deck full of "Target creature gets -X this turn" spells that just speed pump Liberator

Yeah, and some of them are even meant to be reminiscent of certain scenes. The ones for Blitzwing are very likely meant to be his skirmish with Kup and Hot Rod outside Autobot City in the 1980s movie. Also, Slicer technically is a color swapped Wheeljack - he's the Shattered Glass universe version (like the "Mirror Universe" from Star Trek the Original Series, with Decepticons the heroes and Autobots the bad guys. It's why there's also alternate art of them in Shattered Glass versions.)

One devious strategy I realized while building Tawnos is that there are a lot of birds with an etb that bounces any creature back to hand. With Tawnos out, that means you can have the copy etb and bounce an enemies creature, then when the original etbs it can bounce itself back to hand to play it again like its a free buyback.

At 10:00 you're wrong - it doesn't let you hold those cards for key opportunities, it forces you to play them as the ability resolves. They'll all go on the stack right then and there.

While I get that they're not everyone's cup of tea, the Transformers cards are all great in that they're all pretty flavorful (like Starscream caring about the Monarch) and while they all are unique build around commanders, none of them are so obviously OP that it's a must build commander deck. Personally that's what I'd like to see out of Universes Beyond, cards that are great in flavor but not so strong they're instant staples in any deck that can run them. And by including them in pack instead of a Secret Lair, they're a lot easier to get ahold of, which is perfect. And if we're talking about artwork, pretty sure the art is drawn in the style of the cartoon, not just cropped stills of the show itself. And it's almost criminal to not talk about the Shattered Glass version, which also look great. (For those out of the know, Shattered Glass is essentially a dark version of the main story where the good guys are evil and vice-versa.) I get not liking them, but out of all of the Universes Beyond attempts so far this is one of, if not the best. (Closely contested by the WH40K decks, which are also really cool.)

Important to note for those of you that will be making Gix, you cannot play them at a later time. They are played as the ability resolves. You get to pick the order in which they are cast, and therefore the order they resolve, but you have to cast the ones you want to right then.

Quick correction: Those Transformers cards are DEFINITELY not stills from the cartoon. Even excluding the Shattered Glass art, they're definitely images that have been created in the style of G1, rather than direct screencaps. Flamewar, for example, was never in the original Transformers show at all. So, more than "minimal effort" has been put into them: I like how they managed to make the card art so convincingly like the original show.

I included phyrexian flavored cards when I could though, I am using oppression and the new painful quandary, k’rrik, yawgmoth, phyrexian obliterator, no mercy, new sheoldred, urborg, phyrexian altar. Probably some more that I cant think of atm. I might make a fully black phyrexian deck one day but if I do its going to be whenever they print the God version of yawgmoth.

Gix is going to be super dependent on what you can pull off your opponents decks, and it also helps your opponents draw answers. K’rrik is very one dimensional though, so it just depends on your goals. K’rrik was getting boring to me and Gix is one of the coolest characters in magic imo, so it was an easy choice for me.

You actually get 3 mutate triggers when you copy a mutate. One from playing the creature and two font each creature seeing the other mutate. It was mentioned on the command zone with Jimmy.

As far as new commanders are concerned, I really like Myrel, Shield of Argive. She seems just...strong. I think for a Mono White deck she just amplifies the "White Weeniee" or Tribal strategy of Soldiers and tokens incredibly well. White has gotten so many good cards from the last several sets, it's no longer a meme to say White is bad. Everything from it's card draw to ramp has gotten good card inclusions.

10:01 unfortunately, that's not how the wording works. the wording means that if you want to cast those spells, you have to at that moment. if you choose not to cast it, you lose that chance. if what you said were the case, then it would have to have said in text: "as long as those cards remain exiled"

The fun part about the Transformers companion cards is the parallels between the stories. Two brothers (or as good as, depending on which universe) that initially mostly agreed on the direction things should go, then the falling out, then the war that manages to nearly wreck their world (in one universe one brother admitted their war basically *did* break the planet, whoops...) and before the war has ended, resources are drained to the point that the land is crying out in pain. Oh, also, loads of giant robots on the battleground. If they had released them with any other set, it just wouldn't have fit.

About Gix, are you sure you can cast the exiled card after activate the ability? Bc I think you can only cast the exiled card as result of the ability. Otherwise, the card would have "you can cast these cards while they're exiled"

I'd say Commander Deck Urza (Chief Artificer) is the best Esper Artifacts commander we've ever been gifted. It'll almost always cast for less than retail, and pumping out a Karn-struct at the end of every turn demands an immediate answer, especially as if it makes around the board, it'll be swinging with menace. With BRO and DOMU having ways to ramp out powerstones, and Treasure creation being an evergreen Commander tactic, Urza Chief Artificer can roll deep with a ton of burly bots to wreck your opponents.

Regarding the lore!! Teferi is stranded in time, potentially on Zhalfir!! Which would be HUGE, because Zhalfir was both extremely technologically advanced compared to the rest of Dominaria, and it might not have been hit by the mending?? Which, if that is the case, there could be pre-mending walkers in Zhalfir. Imagine Urza or 9 Titans level walkers, in current magic lore. It could also be an explanation for where Aminatou is, but also it could be a really nice way of helping stop the Phyrexians just running over everything! And it'll provide a nice way of tying up Teferi's final hang-up (potentially ending with him dying fighting Phyrexia after bringing back Zhalfir, or maybe sacrificing his spark to do so??)

are you saying reading the card doesn't explain the card? i could only see people pointing at other cards on reddit (like Villainous Wealth) which have similar text and have the behavior you describe. the problem is that the text has a period before the "you may play card exiled this way" normally this does mean that the effect of being able to play the exiled cards is a persistent thing for as long as gix is in play. in fact untill there is offical errata on gatherer everyone should argue that this is how it should be interpreted. If there was no period then the ability would be tied to the activation of the ability tho. (also i can't find this release notes thing, also release notes aren't official errata)

You may cast sorceries and other non instants at this time as it is part of the card's ability, but you do not get to save them to cast later. You either cast them now or not at all.

Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa seems like a great general too. Imagine: returning a blightsteel and one shotting an opponent for 3 mana? Entomb, buried alive and lootings help to fill de graveyard with powerfull artifact creatures (or turn anything into artifacts with Lattice) such as colossus, gearhulks and etc. And, if you don't want to lose the creature at the end of the turn, end it before with

No. The are occasionally some standard legal cards in commander decks, but they’re mostly not standard legal.

Not just the legality, but a commander deck is singleton (one card of each name max) and is a 100 card deck, rather than 60 card standard. In standard you can play up to 4 copies of a card. Basically, you would not have the cards you'd need for standard/pioneer/modern and other 60 card formats

You can only decide which creature to fight if you have played a spell which makes your creatures fight (you'll know it when you see those cards).

As a looong time Feldon of the Third Path player (my favorite deck since it came out), I'm so excited for Loran, Disciple of History. While the two rares of Feldon and Loran were.....underwhelming to say the least, the UNCOMMON I feel has a lot of promise to be a good mono-white artifact deck. Ty for saying teferi being here is odd; I thought I was going crazy when I saw him and was like, "oh, cool time travel story stuff like sarkhan vol, I didn't even play that set and I know that story; what's gonna happen?!?" and then he's sorta just there watching that's it. I get it with the set being the whole war (from Stones to Sylex) so he can't just play through it like a dnd campaign (SV was only back through time for barely anytime at all). Love the list, loved the game, it was really cool to see you who enjoying your deck so much. It wasn’t on the list, but I actually built an Ashnod Flesh Mechanist deck and have been shocked how much I’m enjoying the Black Artifact Ramp I’ve got going with it.

I'm completely fine with mechanically unique universes beyond cards as long as they keep being in standard booster packs or readily available pre-cons. Hopefully this is a sign that Wotc understands that availability was the main thing people didn't like about universes beyond. I'm okay with Darth Vader being in magic as long as it's a card I can crack in an actual pack and not a direct to consumer, 1 time only, buy it now or be forced to pay $30 for it secret lair thing.

Absolutely smashed them in game knight. Lesson learned: always have decent creature removal in commander or you will loose to a strong threat.
