Death101.1, well the oldest it could have been was 500 (n'something,) but it could have been just (just,) 270(something.) It's to do with the way they carbon date the poor sharks eye tissue, it's very approximate (+/-200 years approximate.) How do they get eye tissue samples, from a living shark without removing eye tissue using some kind of sharp tool? Yeah, friendly. Amazingly old though.

What they don't tell you about the Greenland shark and its relative, the sleeper shark, is that even though they are slow there is evidence they occasionally use bursts of speed to catch prey and kill it. There have been seals, moose, and even polar bears found in their stomachs.

I've head of the greenland shark but didn't know it lived that long, I mean 400 years? That's pretty cool, all this time I thought the bowhead whale had the longest lifespan when it came to fish or creatures similar to fish.

A recent study showed that the Greenland shark is actually more a carnivor. This study was confirmed after opening the stomach of a bunch of Greenland sharks they ended up founding huge fish about a meter long and a lot of seals

Correction Greenland sharks are not docile as first thought, they are responsible for the attacks of seals and leaving cork screw like wounds which wash up on Sable Island. In addition it is one of the rare sharks that can survive in fresh water.

The reason is because some parasitic fish will nibble on the back and the basking sharks HATE this, so the jump out and land on the back in an effort to get it off... Now THATS a knowledge nugget.
