I think it's safe to say that Muk is one of those Pokémon that can combine several roles in one team slot. It's well established at this point that Muk counts as a Horse, but we cannot ignore the self-evident truth that Muk is a Good Girl or Boy, allowing Muk to also fill the Dog role that any well-balanced team needs. Once this catches on with the Gen 3 OU playerbase, It seems plausible that Suicune might drop to UU, as Muk takes over its duties as canine win condition.

I would like to take this time to nominate Revavroom for a space on the esteemed Horse Council. My immediate thought when I saw the name of this video were two pokemon: Heatran and Tyranitar. I don't think there's ever been a case where I lost to those two that I felt like I was cheated or they were used in some kind of cheap or unfair way. They're strong and reliable but never oppressive or unfair. If you can't deal with either of them it's because your team isn't well thought out. I love those guys.

Would like to see a "most overrated in each gen/format" I've only played Gen 3 OU, but the example I would give is Ttar. Yes, it's *very* good... But the fact that everyone is lining up to give him a handy-J boggles my mind. It's not bulky enough to be super defensive, not strong enough to 1 hit almost anything without 2 turns of setting up first... There are so many move sets, that you're almost matchup fishing by using it. Even if you build the set to support the specific team it's on, there's a good chance that the enemy will have something that completely walls or bulldozes through it.

I would give gen 1 to gengar. Gen 1 gengar to me is the ultimate utility mon, it provides sleep support, gives a useful normal immunity for pivoting/predicting explosions, it can do solid damage to just about everything but lacks STAB to be a true sweeper, and it can explode to dent something that's giving you trouble and potentially swing momentum. Any one of those things by itself probably wouldn't see usage, but combine them all and it's one of the top used mons.
@funkymachineАй бұрын
Adv Zapdos is the clearest candidate. You can use zapdos actually on every team and be fine. There's no fishing zapdos there never a time a 1 for 1 trade spike immune is bad. Swampert is targetable, if I see 100% pert I'm using hp grass tar.

Personally for gen 1 I’d argue Exeggutor is the best fit for the category. Maybe it’s too far up in viability to be counted, but every single moveset choice you have offers completely separate and often equally capable options for handling threats. He’s not the fastest but breaks past the 200 threshold, he’s got enough special that he can tank hits there, as well as get surprising mileage out of the 40bp mega drain (especially with the 33% psychic drops). He can sleep, he can stun, and his attack is big enough that your hyper beam or explosion can end most pokemon above and below you on the rankings. While Chansey easily handles paralysis by walling (especially with reflect) and Alakazam isn’t far behind with his fairly unique speed tier offering significant advantages in the late game where everything’s paralyzed, Exeggutor is one of the only pokemon in rby whose options, bulk, speed, and power allow him to gracefully handle that handicap. As long as you don’t get full para’d when you really needed to blow up, of course. Cloyster is a great pick, though I was surprised it was your choice, Wisest Jimothy. Great vid as usual xox

I'd not realised Rapid Spin Golem was a gen-2 exclusive event 'mon. I wonder if it'd have seen any use in ADV OU if it learnt the move in that gen? It's quad weak to Giga Drain, so not really better against Gengar than Claydoll, and basically all of the common spinners except Starmie have Explosion IIRC, so that's not really a particular point in its favour... plus, heavily punished by the fairly common HP Grasses being thrown about. STAB earthquake and rock slide off a good attack stat is still pretty good though. I'd probably guess it wouldn't see any play outside of maybe replacing Rhydon in those rare para-spam teams, as a somewhat weaker alternative that at least brings Rapid Spin support. Being super slow with low spdef and a 4x weakness to a common special move is probably too much of a drawback for just being a spinner with some strong offense

I think Gen 1 should go to Starmie, Cloyster is less generally applicable to all teams compared to Starmie who is considered the 4th best after the Big 3. It's a great lead, can be the designated sleep sack, Thunder Wave cripples Tauros so it's risky for Tauros to switch in or stay, Ice Beam or Blizzard threatens freeze to Chansey and Snorlax, really good defensive utility due to stats and Recover, STAB Psychic for damage and special drop chance, access to Electric and STAB Water moves, plus it's fast which also translates to high crit rate. It's so versatile and it being strong but not part of the big 3 makes it so reliable because it's more expandable relative to the big 3, so Starmie is good for risky situations and has enough defense to survive almost any situation.
