This hits me deep because I lived with my mother way below poverty line. She didn't know how to eat healthy on a budget. I was fed so many carbs, sugars and processed foods. Soon as I hit 13 I was diagnosed with PCOS and struggled with the weight due to insulin resistance and irregular blood sugar. I was very active and could not understand why I couldn't lose weight. Took me forever to realize my diet was the majority of the cause. How you feed your kids will shape their diet throughout their life.

If it's child abuse to starve your kid, it should be child abuse to over feed them or only provide nutrient deficient meals
@MmmHuggles9 ай бұрын
This is literally a form of child abuse. The problem is, it's hard to force parents to do what is right and they could use all sorts of excuses that keep them out of trouble. The fact is though that there is no excuse. You can't use poverty as an excuse because food banks exist and so does "food stamps". Both can be sources of healthy and nutritious meals. You can't use mental health as an excuse as there are plenty of medications out there to help and counseling too. Plus, your personal issues should not bring harm upon someone else (the kid). It's actually healthier for the kid to eat too little than it is to get them to eat too much junk. Neither is great, but overfeeding is by far worse on long-term health.

I think the “at least she’s feeding them” comes from so many accounts where children have literally been starved to death. Neither is acceptable, but I don’t think telling her over and over she’s abusing her kids is going to help either. I think the people adding helpful comments like, “cut up bananas and strawberries it takes the same effort” are the ones that will be the ones that will get her to move in the right direction. Telling people they are terrible doesn’t really help. Pushing people in the right direction with constructive criticism does. You can see at least she made one step forward with what appears to be grapes and did cut them up properly for her small child. She looks like a very unhappy person herself, maybe she needs some serious encouragement to move in the right direction for not only her children but for herself as well. Positive reinforcement and encouragement always works far more effectively than negative feedback or punishments when trying to change. No one commenting actually knows this woman or what her actual situation is, she obviously has reason she is willing to post these things online and willing to subject herself to this criticism. This isn’t in anyway a defense of her actions, because she does need to work to do better for her entire family including herself.

This is neglect. I can’t imagine having fed my son like that. It doesn’t take long to cook something. Esp something for kids. I was tired. I had a lot to do. I think she’s on substances bc she fumbles her words a lot. She has a hard time opening a damn bag of DONUTS. Man, I’d have even been happier had she had freaking tv dinners for her kid MINIMUM even though that should be rare. Protein, veg, fruit, milk and snack. Pretty damn common balance for kids…I’m blown away. I’m happy I had more sense than that and I was very overweight and unhealthy. I lost the weight for my health but what triggered it was I wanted to be a better mother for my son. To be able to catch up to my son. To play with him longer, go on farther walks, etc. to show him how to eat properly! I was 280lbs and that extra weight makes you TIRED, in PAIN, & everything is a lot more effort. Things like walking to the bathroom are a chore…I lost 140lbs. I only gained back 20lbs during the pandemic which I’m working on already losing some but 160lbs is a WORLD dif than that. Maintained for 9yrs no problem. I feel for her on the level of I understand how hard everything is obese, but I also am upset seeing the changes that should be made not being made. Genetics do not make you fat, they can make you PRONE to getting fat if you do not make good choices. Genetics do not prevent healthiness it only makes you choose a dif route to healthiness. Our parents could also feed us reasonably healthy food- despite all three of us doing different sports and running around all afternoon driving us around even if it was as simple as pasta with veggies. Occasionally we have pizza when we really need a quick dinner and they can’t make anything, or mc Donald’s when we are going on trips(like driving 3 hours for camping) or sometimes as the oldest I’ll cook up a small meal for my family. I’m not saying we eat perfectly healthy(cause we don’t) but we try our best and what she’s doing is plain wrong! Congratulations on your weight loss!!! That’s a big accomplishment!

Dumb people are more likely to screw up and get pregnant. Dumb people are more likely to repeat their mistakes. Dumb people are more likely to "wing it" and shift blame at every opportunity instead of trying to do things right. The people ready to have children and are prepared to have children tend to be smarter and this can actually hurt their chances at getting pregnant. The older you get, the harder it is to get pregnant and have a healthy baby. Smart people don't tend to "accidentally" get pregnant at an early age.

This is a disgusting and ignorant attitude to have. The parent here obviously has a bad relationship with food, and they need support in order to help their kids grow up with a healthy relationship with food. They need to be less apathetic to the effort people have been making to encourage her and give her knowledge to do better. This is true. However, there is nothing happening in these videos that is worth taking a child out of a loving (even if imperfect) home and dumping them in a bs system. It's honestly astounding how ignorant and hateful you people can be. The system is overrun and underfunded, it is not a joyride, it's not a new perfect home, and it's not free of issues or problematic people (Guess what? Those people may also have a bad relationship with food and/or feed the children less than ideally! Shocking). It is very often an abusive environment, real abuse, not due to something as simple and workable as a parents terrible relationship with food. It is traumatic to be taken away from the family they love, and it is not the magical fix you seem to believe it is. I hope you put in the effort to educate yourself.

Taking out of the family is extreme yeah, But your comment is extreme too. Not feeding a child the proper nutritions their body needs for developement is reportable. They need protein for their brain in that life stage. If they do not get enough of it leads to developement issues. Most countries have child developement professionals who check on your child in the first 3 years. And diet is one of the things they check. Not having the proper nutritions can cause autoimmine diseasea, diebetes, movement issues, hormonal issues, the list is endless. Not having enough protein can lead to learning difficulties, It is clear she was probably raised on a diet like that, but it is also clear she is lazy and negligent. There is no way a person in 2023 doesn't know a child needs vitamins, and protein. All that she eats is carbs and refined sugars. Teachers can tell which child was fed with proper nutritions and which were not. They can even tell who ate trash food for breakfast and who didnt. Giving a child unhealthy food every once in a wgile is okay but what she is doing is straight damage to her health. You defending the woman and straight up ignoring a baby is truly upsetting. Just cuz she has an unhealthy relationship with food doesnt justify her ruining her child's health. @@twitchy_bird

Apple juice is basically just sugar. A nurse told me a story once about this very obese baby that came into the ER. So they were asking the parents what they were feeding her. The parents said vanilla pudding cups. That’s it. They said the baby liked it so that’s what they gave her. Jeez 🤦🏾♀️

This woman gave her baby sugary drinks, then when she tried giving her child a nutritional drink she didn’t like it. I wonder why? I mean all you’ve been feeding your child is sugar, if they get used to eating shit like that, they’re not going to like healthier foods. Reminds me of my own mother. My mom hated cooking period. She bought nothing but convience food, just so she wouldn't have to get up and cook. She would rather rot on the recliner and watched tv than get up and feed her own kids. Kicker is that she never worked in her life and always been on benefits. So it wasnt like she didnt have the time, money, or even energy to not cook 3 meals a day. She just didnt want to. Half of the time, she wouldnt even do chores. I remember how much mold would be under the bath mat due to neglect from cleaning, and i had to bathe in there. 🤢 Having a mom that doesn't care is just the worst. A parent who doesnt care will do far less than the bare minimum. Any legal guardian that just throws a plate of doughnuts at their kid, is not fit to be a parent whatsoever. My mom would get almost $800 in food stamps and yet she would tell me that healthy food was "too expensive". Only to discover 20 years later, she was just using that as an excuse not to cook. Ironcially we never ate rice and beans or went to food banks like poorer families did. In fact my mom had TWO freezers full of ultra processed junk and thats not including the cubards. Considering how expensive processed crap is, that was INSANE. My 10 year old ass would be chugging a 2L of mountain dew and eating a family sized bag of Doritos without any intervention. My mom did NOT care at all. When i started packing on the LBS, i didnt hear the end of it. She hated that j was fat and unhealthy, but yet she wouldn't do a damn thing about it besides shaming me. She couldn't put her 2 brain cells together to come up with an idea on how to get me to eat healthier. She acted like me becoming obese wasnt her problem nor her fault. To this very day, i struggle with an eating disorder because, my mother decided to be emotionally unavailable and, not do her job as a parent. I deal with so much shit now that im in my late twenties.

What’s sad is this is the SAD ( Standard American Diet ) for a lot of people, especially lower income families. I still eat like crap and me and my whole family are still trying to unlearn unhealthy eating habits. We ate stuff like this frequently ( excluding the burnt burger patties oh my god… ) but we also VERY frequently had home cooked meals as well with VEGETABLES. This is to a whole other level.

ITs so sad to see a partent who doesnt even try to feed their little one proper food.

As a child, I had very underdeveloped taste buds. I didn't eat like 90% of the food including vegetables and anything that contained vegetables like pizza, burger etc. I used to buy cookies and chips everyday (there was not much awareness back then especially in my third world country and I was a fussy, stubborn child) but my mum made special meals for me with potatoes ,eggs and meats. She was a working mom. And when I turned 21, I was put on a gluten free diet and my mum despite being depressed cooked my meals as needed (with me helping ofc). And now that I don't consume any dairy except A2, I order that for myself all the time although it's like 2-3× more expensive than A1 dairy.
