Can a person be homesick for a place they have never been? Thank you for this wonderful adventure in the English countryside....loved every minute of it. Oh and I am with you on the sauerkraut. Have you ever had sauerkraut soup? Mmmmm...so good. Debra P there is a Welsh word Hiraeth that is hard to translate but generally takes the meaning of being homesick for a place you can’t return to such as a childhood home which you could return to but it’s not that same as you are the one which has changed. It also includes a place you haven’t even been to. So yes, you can be homesick for a place you haven’t been. These lovely videos also make me homesick! Some of the places I’ve been to and others I just dream about calling home.

Whilst I love the houses the gardens take my breath away. So beautiful. I noticed the house that had the sign that said to use the back door and it reminded me about my Father. We always used the back door because he said the front door is for the queen. I was raised the USA and my Father is of English descent.

My heart aches to go to England one day that is such a desire and passion I have had for so long. I worked in a restaurant where many visitors from around the world had come and I have met British people and I must say I find them delightful and I simply love their sense of humor. This is exactly what I miss about the UK, apart from family, food, shopping, humour, weather, public transport, NHS etc! Is the beautiful British villages and countryside. Stunning and so peaceful..I needed that especially since everything that is going on in the world, especially here in the US..Thank you for taking time to share.. we are currently in the process of making sauerkraut from scratch..5 days into fermentation.. great probiotic! If I did not have my four legged cats Nico, Gigi and Bacio I would sell everything and move to one of the many lovely small English villages. I love the detail on the homes. From the Tudor period to the Victorians brickwork and ornate chimney stacks were to show off how wealthy and powerful your family were. Just showing off, big time!!!! Also, there was a window tax, the more windows you had the more money you paid to the government, on some old buildings you can see where windows are bricked up, presumably to not pay the tax!!

Absolutely love the villages,cottages & gardens....afternoon tea & cake-- a British thing...lovely also especially with beautiful crockery....my Aunt used to live in Chester,I have been there as well,, thanks for the tour....
