Fun fact from the novel: Szayel was once the strongest among the Espadas , also known as Cien Granz or Espada zero. However, since he was bored, he separated and nerfed himself and made him in two separate beings, Szayelaporo and his brother Yylfordt Granz (The OX arrancar who fought Renji and kept calling him brother). Once the two combined, they were the strongest... PS: This was never explained in the anime.

Yeah the censorship in the Arrancar arc is pretty damn annoying. This was also before studios regularly would uncensor stuff for the DVD/BD release so they've never fixed stuff like with what actually happened to Nemu in the manga. There will be a few other instances like this later on, so it's cool to see you have someone with you who reads the manga.

They censor alot in bleach for multiple reasons. The timeslot it gets on TV is a big reason, the later at night the less likely they have to censor. IIRC, Bleach TYBW is getting a midnight timeslot so its probably not gonna be censored nowhere near as much, which is good because there are some crazy things that happen.

Overall I don't really like this set of episodes. Tons of recap at the start of each episode, tons of reused animation (particalularly with Kenpachi and Nnoitora), and fights that generally aren't very interesting. Zommari v Byakuya is a joke, can barely even call it a fight with how hard Senbonzakura counters Zommari. I know there were behind the scenes issues with Bleach at the time so I cut it some slack on the production/quality aspects. HOWEVER! The end to Mayuri v Szayel is one of the best in the entire series imo, and really one of the few reasons not to just skip around through ALL of these episodes.
