Thanks for watching everyone! Looking forward to putting this rig to the test. In the meantime I've got a pretty cool build/CAD modeling video in the works. Stay tuned! 👍

Another great idea and video. I have been using Orlandoo components for my 4x4 model to RC conversions. Some of the components may save you headache as they sell the components individually. Stuff like the axels, shocks, links, etc are well built and scaled for 1/24&1/25 model kits. Keep up the great work.

Would you entertain the idea of making popular current or vintage toys (like Halo, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, etc..) into RC machines? Thanks!
@coleward156Ай бұрын
For the transfer case you should try some small o-rings they are stronger than rubber bands and will slip rather than snap like small gears if there is any binding in the drivetrain This is used in some lego technic kits If you need more friction on the pulleys you can add more groves and rings without add much more strain to parts unlike what rubber bands

Thank you ! you've been inspiring me for the past few years to try and do scale rc myself, and I'm finally doing it. It's hard to do, it takes a lot of time to fine tune and reprint things, but seeing you do it and discovering new techniques helps a lot.

Dude! That’s one cool little functional 1/24 scale chassis! All it needs is a jeep cj7 body on it!👌🥰👍👉❤️ you know! This is the kind of realistic modeling I had in mind when building 1/24 scale models back in the 70s when I was kid and even through the 80s in my 20s! Now with the technology these days! Seems like anything is possible. Amazing!

Interesting, I find a lot of familiar ideas and problems similar to mine! I also have an idea to use springs instead of CV-joints, but in 1/87 scale. Also, you can try O-rings instead of rubber bands in distribution box. I am doing a crane winch with 2 O-rings, and it is surprisingly grippy. Don't know if it will slip in your case though. Also, resin-printed gears will definitely be more precise at that size, and there are resins that are tough enough for such applications. Resin printing is of course, a whole new hobby with its learning curve. As for tyres, if you don't find ready-made ones, you can always try casting polyurethane in 3D-printed molds (or make a silicone mold of your plastic tyres and cast polyurethane into that)

holy crap man. I'm very into 1:24 crawlers and have some I've invested a lot into building. but I've always wanted to build a scale trail truck. this is the first time I've ever seen leaf springs at this scale. so awesome!

Have you looked at the internals from Orlandoo Hunter axles?. A machined brass ring and pinion set is around $5, and a set of CVD shafts is under $10. Really nice quality too. They even have differentials available.

It would be cool if you made it somewhat able to be made longer so it could be used with longer wheelbase trucks.

RC4WD makes .7” wheels and scale tires to go with them (Goodyear, BFG, Falken). There are around 10 tire options and 6 or 7 wheels. I have lots of their 1” tires like you find on scx24, fcx24, etc. and love how scale they are. But the .7 may be more scale for your project. Worth a look!

I think this chassis and idea has much more in common with the AutoRC Geko24 than any of the Orlandoo Hunter kits. The Geko24 is designed for 24th scale model kit bodies, just like you're trying to do. Why not use a Geko24 drivetrain and build a leaf-sprung chassis around it? They are available on Tiny4x4, the very website you showed toward the end of this video.
@mianzhiwang1961Ай бұрын
you may want to try ordering nylon gears from industrial SLS printing service. The price of the 0.25 nozzle could get you a few dozen of them.
@MakeItRCАй бұрын
Good thinking. I sort of defaulted to metal when thinking about those gears, but a stronger plastic could be a good mix of strength to cost. 👍

Would be great to see what you could do with the Revel VW T3 Vanagon camper. It have to be Syncro aka 4wd. I do have such kit still unbuilt. My first plan was to fit it to a Mini-Z chassis. I also have a Mini-Z overland BMW X5/Land Cruiser, but it's sadly only rwd. But with good suspension travel.
