When you don't know how to deal with a child, and let them get away with everything, this is what happens -.- I don't agree with physical punishment but there has to be *some* form of control over the situation as a parent and that usually starts young. The mother probably never knew how to deal with them acting out, and it just got worse as they grew up

We ended up just walking out of the house and buying a sandwich because we had like $15 (we thought that $15 would last us the rest of our lives) and went right tf back home. Having your children choose their chores and rules (within reason) is actually a really good idea. It allows the children to have a certain amount of control over their daily lives (as far as chores go) and living situations, which is actually really helpful. A lot of parents forget that you're a guider, not a drill sergeant. Your kids aren't tiny soldiers who just need to listen to you, and listening to them and allowing their opinions and wants to have meaning is actually a really good way of forming respect among them. If children feel as though they are being respected, they are more likely to respect you back.

These kids are Gen Z. Contrary to some beliefs, generations are 20 years long. So 81 to 2000 is a millennial and 2001 to 2020 is gen Z. (Think about it. Gen X is 1961-‘80, boomers ‘41 to 1960. If it was 15 years per gen, baby boomers would be born between 1955 and 1970, X would be born 1971until 85, milennials ‘86 to 2001. Makes 0 sense. Plus, every generation is supposed to represent a new generation of the family. Like my brother the millennial was born in ‘84 and his sons, the Gen Zs, were born in 2017 and 2019. Unless you are over 40 when you have kids, your kids will always be in the next generation. I’ve studied this shit inn Biological Anthro at a Master’s level so, in the words of a movie you’ve never seen, which will make no sense to you because you are lacking the context, “Don’t F*** with the Babysitter.”
