As a Christian one of the most painful lessons I’ve learned is about 80-90% of the people who claim to be Christians are in the Jim Baker category. Not only have they never read the Bible, have no idea what exegesis is & have little more than a cultural belief & understanding. I know it’s not for everyone, the Bible says exactly that. There’s a lot of people who present themselves as someone or something they know almost nothing about. As a Christian you’re to make much of Christ, not yourself or for money. If someone claims to be a Christian & talks more about their self, their wealth, or is trying to sell you something; run!

Facts and amen. I was one of those edgy agnostic/atheists but God revealed how real he was when I needed it. After I gave my life to Christ I was sad to discover how many folks who call themselves Christians, and yes even the ones heavily attending church are pretty far from it. Dont read the bible and just feel like being "raised a Christian" is enough. Smh but like you said the Bible says that would happen too so 🤷🏽‍♀️. I just continue to thank God that I got to have a change of heart through Christ and pray for everyone to have that same encounter.

Same bro Irish Catholic parents raised me to respect others and that the Bible and parts of the Bible were written 40-70 years after the death of Christ and a lot of it at that point were kinda passed down stories that could be twisted however some verses that were made during the time of Jesus were primarily teaching love love thy neighbor is one of the original gospels so I believe that it should be taken more literal and apply more then other gospels

(Sorry for the long response lol!) Imo, He represents Christians pretty well. I was born and raised in a pastors home. I have nothing against Christianity, but the people who believe in said religion just use it as a tool to justify everything that they do. Hate, cuss, lie, swindle, explain the unexplainable, quell the fear of death, inspire them to be better people, etc. Christians use the Bible or “God told me” to justify whatever they want. This is one of the main reasons I’ve left this religion altogether. God is their tool, and their is nothing I can say to get people to see how they’re using this as a means of justification. Christianity is just a way to give a “higher purpose” to everything they do. It doesn’t matter what side of the fence you’re on.

Its not multiple ways though... Its like if you take 4 painters with different artistic style/vision and set them all in front of an object and ask them to paint what they see. The core aspect will be the same, but each painting will have a different "flavor". Another example is take 4 poets, ask them to form a poem about something maybe like 'growing older'. Core aspect is the same, but each poem will have a different "flavor". Just like revelations coming upon you and attempting to explain the divine with words, its not going to be "photo realistic", exactly. People get caught up in the flavor aspect and take that to be an exact value, such as imagining "GOD" as existing exactly/actually in the form of a man "himself". This is a misconception. People will not come to know the truth until they confront it blankly (beyond our biases), 'looking' inward. It is an unraveling, and eventually, if we are completely honest, it is revealed to us. The awakening process (as well as many others regarding creation) is inward -> out, NOT the other way around like many attempt (think consuming consuming consuming, seven deadly sins. This blocks us out. We need to cleanse, we need to purify ourselves with truth. No more lies, no more delusion.)

I’d venture to say the Spanish conquest of the West Coast was, again, a case of expanding their empire and acquiring resources - with the spread of Christianity being a secondary or tertiary goal. The first Catholic missions in California weren’t even established until the late 1760’s - about 150 to 200 years after the Spanish arrived. To say that the Spanish sought conquest of the West Coast solely to spread Christianity would be inaccurate. Even if I conceded this, it still would not account for the reasons why the vast majority of wars across history were fought.

Jesus fulfilled these laws when he came Matt 5:17. These laws are called ceremonial laws. As a Christian thank you. I personally don’t like how he goes about spreading the word. I believe we should let the Holy Spirit do what the Holy Spirit does. Meaning yes spread the word but careful not to be pushy or condescending . There is a fine line between spreading the word and being pushy and most Christians don’t know how to go about it. Being upset about something going against the word of God is normal but being judgements is another thing. As a Christian I know I’m not perfect and I have my flaws so why judge another person for theirs. After all we all do things according to our upbringing. As a Christian I know I too can fall into sin everyone’s is different. One key concept of Christianity besides Jesus being our savior is that we are not defined by our sins or works so why would I as a Christian judge or in other words define someone by their sin. Jamari I know you interview sometimes. I’m not an expert or anything but it’d mean the world to me if we sat and spoke about what a true Christian is so that people stop shaming Christianity because of people who in my opinion are false prophets. i don't necessarily agree with a lot of bigniks points but he was absolutely correct on certain points 1. According to scripture you will not enter heaven unless you give your life to Christ. So excluding "Catholics & baptists" who are also Christians religious beliefs such as Islam and Buddhism will lead to hell . 2. Christians are allowed to judge but the requirement for them to do so is to not be hypocritical about what they're judging for. 3. Although the word "Allah" translates to "God" it doesn't mean it's the same God as the Christian God. Otherwise why wouldn't Christians also follow Islam if we believed it held the same God? Christians hold to the belief Allah is a false idol and Muhammad was a false prophet.

As someone who grew up in a family that was a part of an evangelical, "spiritual vision" type church, it would be really weird for a guy to go right up to a woman telling her God told him they're meant to be. The appropriate approach would be to talk to a trusted male member of the congregation and maybe pray together about it or something. Then you might even have the message passed down the grapevine through a female congregation member or something. Using "God told me we're supposed to be together" to pick up chicks is super manipulative and fucked up.
