There are five characteristics of the technological society that the hip-hop culture and the popular music industry as a whole demonstrates: Hustle culture, High time preference materialism, Disrespect toward elders/ancestors, Glorification of perversion, Oversocialization, and feelings of self-inferiority. Smokepurpp's case especially highlights the last two: In 2017 when he was hyping with thousands, he started feeding that he was winning the hearts of the whole world, and thus began a career where he tirelessly tried to come up with antics to entertain his immature and unintelligent audience. However, the truth is that he only had the spotlight temporarily 5 years ago because he gave an exciting 2 minute impression to a crowd where most people forget about him as soon as they delete their dumb pictures before their parents check their phones. And now when only 10 people showed up to his tour (perhaps those who somehow truly liked him out of the tens of thousands 5 years ago), Smokepurpp panics because he feels abandoned by his former audience as other newly propped up individuals takes his former fame instead. He feels inferior to the latter, and that is why he needs to bring out his jewelry or car collections, the most common sign of quick money or "big bandz" in hip-hop, to convince himself and his audience that he is still relevant and deserving of attention.

@@fodetoure1576 As much as I like the lyrics of 1985, def not weak... just literal truth unfolding... the millionaire line was always kinda wack to me. Some of the most evil people in the world are millionaires lol. I would end some of them myself if I could... and frankly we all need to 'clown' on them more. It's been this way for a long time. Millionaires and billionaires rule the world and because of that few other people will get to have significant wealth. I wish some of my favorite rappers who spit bars about the disparity actually went after it when they got rich. Help your hoods, support causes that count. But you can't also sell me this idea that being rich is good at the same time. It doesn't make sense to be both a giver and amasser of wealth. "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the gates of heaven." They take the money and the snakes keep movin around em. All of these guys are status quo in their own way. Not all of the ideas they have are good... they are a product of being apart of this game with all of this money changing hands. The change they call for always seems to stop short. Even the best ones get bound by the industry that both makes them rich, and keeps everything under the control of the people that grease those wheels up. Same industry that tells you all of the material and status related things that you should want for yourself. It's poison, man. Cole knows it too! He's spoke on this type of thing. Jealousy is bad, but on the other side of jealousy is boasting. Just the alternate form. Jeez man... you're telling me when a millionaire celebrity does something universally terrible, nobody with less money than them can say anything? Nah. I get what he was saying but the actual meaning is choppy. It only applies to really one type of conversation in the hip hop world. He was really just saying people spend too much time hating to make money. Just kind of an out of touch line from him. It doesn't apply to normal people. We are the audience my man. We can judge artists how we like and they kinda can't do much about it, no matter how much they make or spend. That stuff only matters between rappers. There's being bitter, and then there's just having a negative opinion. You can't use the line every time someone has a negative opinion about his lyrics... I mean, aside from the fact that it's like quoting scripture to argue with an atheist, it makes people who listen to J.Cole sound obsessed. And it's not even 'slick' to use it that way. You missed how he actually meant it in the song and treated this dude like he was hating on Cole's success when all he said was that the bars you quoted were wack.

@wedabestmusic nope. I’m just quoting a song. Not my words. Nobody made them say fuck j Cole when they were hot for a minute…. Also. Show me proof they actually have a million. I believe they’ve blown a couple million. I’d be shocked they made any good investments or own property. They expect Smokepurpp to make up all the difference and put out a hit. Which obviously ain’t gonna happen. He’s probably seriously in debt with his label. He’s not making any bread lol. When artists under contract are successful they usually only see like maybe 25% of the income they make and the label takes the rest. TBH, the dude's whole career is luck based. He was in the right place, at the right time. And the day that the Illuminati tendril fell in his court.. it was like a meteor made of diamond landing at this guys feet. He did get Lil Pump into rapping, but honestly that's about it. He claims to be a major contributor to Gucci Gang, and other hits. And I don't doubt that maybe he took part in an 808 tweak here or there, or a Bass note/line of his MIGHT have been put in there some place.. but being to the point where he was a big contributor to those hits?? --- NAH. Cuz looking back, that statement has not aged well at *all.* [Proof: Ever since the spotlight has shifted off mumblerap. And all the big producers, ghost writers, artists, etc... have shifted focus -- Smokepurpp, has *unironically* not made a single smash hit.. or even come CLOSE to being apart of any major hit since then. I'm calling B.S. Lil Pump just hooked his day 1 up phat with shout outs] But honestly tho, Smokepurpp fell off even further back then this.. his freestyle he did, where he started humming, and repeating himself -- it's not like he was on his way up or anything, at that point -- *that was what he became known for.* He blew up and went viral over that, and pretty much all of his momentum he had built up was shot down HARD. He got clowned, turned into a meme, and all the people who had helped blow him up/hype him up(besides Pump).. were now in full swing coverage of taking apart of the clowning. The coverage on that, and the damage it did to his career became evident in his 'Florida Jit' album, (which came out around that era) selling less then $5,000 worth all together on the first WEEK of release. This was all back 2+ year ago already. It's a miracle this guy is even being mentioned at all at this point, because he's literally not trash.. he's not last year's trash.. he's not the last years, last year's trash... he's coming up on last year's, last years, LAST YEAR's trash. This man's luck hasn't run out yet, but it's more like i'm just assuming that Lil Pump is still making sure his boy is taken care of. Because there's no damn way trash from almost 1000 days ago is still on the up and up bro. This dude's been broke. And still, with all that.. dude did better then 99.99999%

Bones, Xavier Wulf, $uicideboy$/Ramirez, Denzel Curry, Ski Mask & Ghostemane are huge & still doing well for themselves. "Emo rappers" like Lil Lotus, Lil Tracy , Nothing Nowhere, Wicca Phase & Coldhart still have solid fanbases as well. Then there's underground legends like Lil Ugly Mane, Bobby Raps, Black Smurf & Devilish Trio who will always be somewhat relevant for different reasons. Then finally there's super lowkey rappers like Ugly Frank/ILLFIGHTYOU, Reptilian God Mana, Dxct, Mavo, Grimm Doza, Lord Apex, Beamon who most people have never heard about but are extremely unique & talented artists that will always have some loyal fans. You probably don't give a fuck I'm just putting it out there. Soundcloud wasn't just the heavy hitters you mentioned & then hypebeast rappers like Purpp, Pump & Ugly God lol. This is what I called about these soundcloud mumble rappers. Sure, they popped off big in the beginning and felt like they can't be touched. But, once the clout dies down what else could they bring to the table? People nowadays change their tastes overtime and grow. And, if these dudes cannot grow and develop as artists and as people and get respect from their elders they wont be here. We are now seeing the fallout of these dudes. Don't get me wrong I ain't a fan of their work but I understood why people liked it at a time. But, they hurting now and realizing that their music can only go so far and taking bad contracts and blowing through their money. These fools looking childish and going out sad.

PAC and biggie we’re good rappers. But I feel like them dying cemented them as generational artists more than anything.

@@Losmerengues1902 Possibly, but they would have went down as goats regardless. But I don't mean just in fame, i mean in the fact that their music stands the test of time. There been plenty of emcees who have died tragically who havent been immortalized as much as Pac and Biggie, but their music will live on far longer than almost any rapper alive today, talkin dudes like Prodigy, Big Pun, Sean Price, Guru, Big L, Eazy-E....none of these cats are immortalized as much as Pac and Big are, but I can guarantee in 50 years we will still be hearing their shit....you cant say that for 99% of these dudes today.

I've been looking hours of your videos since yesterday, I most of the time know nothing about the people you talk about, cause i don't use social medias tiktok or anything except youtube(and i'm 37), so your channel is a nice way to keep an eye on what are people in in these days. Nice job, you make interesting to me things i couldn't care less usually^^

Not to defend either of these clowns but believe it or not SmokePurp put on Lil Pump. Not the other way around

SoundCloud rappers weren’t just bozos like Lil Xan, a lot of talented people like Uzi, Carti, 21, and Trippie Redd came from there. Yes a lot of people blew up but only the real ones lasted. Also Smokepurpp is the one who put on Lil Pump not the other way around
