Not to rain on anyones parade or anything, I agree he's a great guy, informer, and entertainer, but in some of his videos he gives opinions on things he may not know enough about, especially on snake oil videos, since those are 'try it for the first time, give an opinion' by nature. This is important because you have to know that you cannot always take his word as fact, and he often does tell us to try the products (demos) he reviews for yourself. Much love, Random internet guy.

Damn, i love how this limiter sounds. This is exactly what I would expect on a "radio pop" mastering, just to get that nice touch when listening at low and medium volume.

I use this sometimes as polish. I master the track in Sequoia using all my usual plugins like Massive Passive/Curve Bender/Vari Mu/Shadow Hills/etc. These give the colour I want. I then polish off with TC as it is transparent. Best of both worlds. Just leave a bit of headroom on your first draft master print.

I've worked with Orban broadcast limiters since the mid 70's. In the early units there was a lot of adjustment possible but by the mid '90's there was a minor tweak. It was designed to do it's job transparently and you could hit it with really abusive levels and still have acceptable audio on the air. I had a couple of cases of DJ's complaining about a "clicking sound" when their mic was open that always turned out to be the VU meters bangin' off the endpins. I never had any problems with overmodulation with Orban processing. One of my mentors was singing the praises of the Fairchild limiter saying, "It was the best in the broadcast booth, you could run your faders anywhere and the output would be the same."

That was my mastering set up for over 3 years until the izotope plug ins were released and I could do everything inside the computer @ 24bit. I would be very curious to know if some of those plug-ins made it to your fav folder. Cheers

I would really like to drastically change your opinion on fm broadcast processing technology. Most often these awesome pieces of all-in-one equipment tend to be badly molested by radio engineers (actually the program directors get this task in bigger markets). If I may, I'd like to ask one of the most amazing talents in multiband mastering technology I've ever known of, to have a stab at this track. Trust me, this guy is simply mind blowing at what he does. He absolutely refuses to do giant radio stations these days & only does work for some seriously high-end (but odd) projects nowadays. I met him in Hollywood on a once in a lifetime project & his work was absolutely stunning. I heard he refuses published credit on the projects he now accepts (which seems ridiculous to me) & doe everything from Lake Tahoe in Nevada (mostly contract work, DSP multiband programming, esoteric mastering stuff ). Id like to see if he'd be interested on such a challenge. What is the name of this track & artist? (Which BTW, I really like this song). Let me know please.
