It sucks that the beginning of the MVA anime, Bones cut out Spinners narration, his arguments against Shigaraki and all his screen time in the Manga. It humanized Spinner so well. Hopefully when the war arc gets animated, they'll redeem Spinners character! Great video analyzing, man! If this is too much lol I would like to hear your thoughts on the MVA anime compared to the Manga.

@@renji90998 Yeah. I saw it. While I was pleased to see it finally get adapted. It still felt overwhelming. Like you mentioned, it focuses more on Mr. Compress because of his sacrifice, and Bones wanted us to understand him more before he goes. Which is fine. BUT it still cuts out a few of Spinners narration. Some are still there, others, no. But I am happy they kept the scene with him arguing with Shigaraki and us understanding Spinner more too. In the end, I'm glad they still included this scene! But it would have been more appropriate during the MVA arc in chronological order.

Bones really did Spinner dirty. They cut out all of the depth in his character, as well as the interesting perspective he shows when it comes to how mutant types (MTs) are treated in the MHA world. Like they took an analogy for racism and discrimination in general, and just skipped over it. Not o mention they also cut out a lot of interaction with him and Shigaraki. I highly encourage anime onlys read the manga-specifically chapter 220, it really helps complete Spin's arc. Helps build the world and how society is deeply prejudice against people like Spinner. And really helps show how close he is to Shigaraki. Overall, Spinner is a fairly complex character who unfortunetly got his arc erased by a poor manga adaptation. And honestly, he deserves more love and appreciation

Great character analysis honestly but it just makes me sadder that the anime seems to have cut out basically all of Spinner's characterization from MVA, especially since he becomes more important in the manga, so not understanding Spinner as well will really hamper a lot of his more important moments in the story, like waking up Shigaraki, once they get adapted (especially for those who only watch the anime). I look forward to seeing more from Spinner in the manga though, he's become much more interesting than I ever thought he'd be when he was first introduced.

Spinner is absolutely the most interesting villain in MHA. I'm so happy to see an analysis video based on him. Horikoshi is clearly very invested in spinner with what few panels he has to give him. Almost every time we see him he's looking out for the rest of the league, the closest people he's ever had to friends. Driven on easing their burdens, wanting them to deliver on the promises they made to themselves and growing angry when they lose sight of their goals (like with Shiggy in the hideout), literally offering to carry Tomura on his back while running around in a city full of people hell-bent on killing them, all so that his best friend can get sleep. Its genuinely so human, Spinner is a short-sighted 21 year old kid who doesn't think things through but thats what makes him so heartfelt and endearing. He's also one of the first to respect Magne's pronouns so that's a huge win too, likely due to the kinship he feels with Magne's societal discrimination. Either way sorry about the essay i should stop here but thank you for making such a great video on my favourite MHA character!

To be perfectly honest, I always liked Spinner more than Stain when I 1st saw his introduction I always thought that he was just fanboy of Stain and was going to used as a stand-in for Stain since Stain didn't want to be a part of the League of Villains. But as the series progressed I began to like Spinner even more, he basically has no real motive as a villain, he just wanted to do what everyone else was doing which was follow the ideology of Stain, and as he spent more time Shigaraki he now follows him to see this destroyed future that Shiggy was talking about. His fight with Trumpet truly shows that he doesn't care that he's a follower that's part of the bandwagon, he just wants to be there for his friend and the person he currently looks up to the most: Shigaraki.

Spinner has been one of my favorites since the villains were introduced so so happy to have found this! He deserves so much more love than he gets and is one of my favorites to explore in terms of potential. Like heck, he can stick to walls, team him up with Toga for infiltration and information gathering! He is just truly so important to me, and deserves so much better than the basically erasure the anime gave him. You mentioned him being the most humanized of them, but he humanizes the others too for sure, especially Shigaraki. I love him so much. Great video!

Great analysis video! I definitely agree, Spinner is one of, if not the most underrated character in the series. I'd also like to point out one other thing that wasn't mentioned: Spinner has had a much greater impact than previously thought. In chapter 318, when Deku was fighting a group of villains in a mall, there were two with mutant quirks, and both were dressed like Spinner! He's already become a symbol to those with mutant quirks who have been ostracized by the system!

Thank you for the video. I didn't like Spinner at first, but after MVA and Liberation War I grew to love him. He is one of the most nuanced and layered characters in MHA and has slowly become more relevant as the series progresses. I believe Spinner will play a role in saving Tomura from the AFO, going so far as to team up with Deku and sacrificing himself during the confrontation, and dying happily with the thought that he was useful to Tomura. The sight of Spinner dying will give Tomura enough strength to break free from the control of AFO and kill his ex mentor. It would be a tragic but fitting end to Spin's arc.

I don't understand the choices of the directors of the anime. They remove so much important parts that make the story deeper. If Spinner's quirk gets an evolution, then I could see it being like The Lizard from Marvel. Spinner's body could get really big, with super strength, enhanced speed, durability, senses, reflexes, a tail, claws, and the Lizard's signature hyper regeneration. Then he'll be able to support Shigaraki even further like he wants to.

But don’t forget that super powers in MHA do not work anything like they do anywhere else. There’s limits and drawbacks to using your quirk too much preventing someone from just spamming explosions or fire bursts. There are off course a few rare exceptions like with Todoroki whose quirk cancels out its own drawbacks and limits. But that’s because he was basically bred like an animal to have said ability. Damn.

If Spinner does play a larger part in the near future, I hope they put him against Froppy. Both seem like such good reflections of each other. Both are wall crawlers who’s quirk copy that of an animal. Floppy’s is a frog, and spinner’s is a gecko. Both also had to deal with there quirks setting them apart from others. But while Froppy found close friends and family that pulls her through. Spinner only found bigots that caused him to escape inwards until being inspired by stain, and Tomera. Both Froppy, and Spinner also work best as support units for there respective teams.

I'd say Spunners Arc isn't done yet... He still has to meet his idol...Stain. Like AFO said before to him "Remember Iguchi, even when you're the villain, you can still be someone's hero." - originally using that line to manipulate him I'm banking that Spinner will meet Stain and realise he's being used by AFO to hurt Shigaraki and save Tomura/Tenko from AFO's control (being the only friend who can reach him it seems).

I love and hate the villains of MHA(actually all of MHA and that's kinda evident in this rant as I slowly get sidetracked), they all have that human nature everyone can vaguely relate to, they have the tragic backstories to make them even more human to understand why they snapped, they are humans in their core while still being villains, they are terrifying and at this point in time kill just because they can, you can't tell me Toga kills purely because her backstory that's why she started but not why she kills to this day, she finds it for lack of a better term enjoyable. It's that distinct human in them that makes their evil that much more terrifying because you know this could be any human who was in that situation. It really is evil for the sake of evil, born from evil for the sake of revenge. It's why I hate the turn in Dabi's story where he doesn't even really want revenge. He wants exactly what his father wanted. He wants to be stronger than everyone. He wants to be accepted by his father. His story would have been a much better revenge story, it wouldn't be the insane mind of someone drowned in obsession but the crawling triumph of a tortured soul that in its own twisted way is a hero through the murder of Endeavor. To rid the world on an abuser who got away with it solely because his position. But they couldn't do that because Endeavor had to be redeemed much like Bakugou, it's a shitty person barely facing any consequences because "that just can't happen" no I think Dabi was meant to be a revenge story everything led up to it but they realized the hypocrisy in Bakugou getting away with essentially the same thing and well they can't have anyone question Bakugou, honestly I think Bakugou encapsulates a lot of what's wrong with MHA people doing terrible things but being completely forgiven with almost no drawbacks and no, an apology doesn't fix 10 years of assault with explosions, an apology doesn't fix jack, you have to earn forgiveness and Bakugou hasn't even bothered to try, he actively tries to hurt Izuku as much as possible any chance he's allowed to, he doesn't stop demeaning every single person he meets, so no matter what happens it is way too late for him to do anything worthy of forgiveness except maybe becoming something that resembles a decent human being but I honestly think that's impossible for him you don't get the "hes a child" excuse when he's had 10 years to realize just how messed up he is, Bakugou is a terrible person who is loved because he's cool and hot, he's not a redemption story because redemption involves putting in any effort instead of just being forgiven because the dude you beat for 10 years doesn't feel any semblance of self-worth or love so he doesn't see how messed up the things you did are. But i'm way off track back to the villains problem, The fandom just took that human nature, the innate feeling of humanity in their soul, these terrifying villains you could understand and feel bad for while seeing they were wrong and very much evil and turned them into basically a group of teens who just hang around and lot revenge, as if it isn't the same people we see trying to murder someone completely unrelated to their problems at least once a season, like it isn't the same Shigaraki who had no qualms murdering 20 children just because he hates heroes and wants to kill All Might. We removed the villain, the heart of these characters we took one part and latched on discarding everything else like it was garbage. I find great comfort in knowing the villains are villains, it what makes their humanity so good, so terrifying, you can feel bad for what happened to Shiggy and still think that doesn't give him the right to murder literally every person related to heroes, and still feel just as bad that the Shiggy we know, the murderous villain, has a hundred year old man trying to take control of his body. We took those Human Villain's and turned them into humans, no additives or anything just normal everyday humans who have weird personality quirks like a love of blood and violence and destruction. We removed the methodical yet chaotic bunch of villains, leaving behind a mildly chaotic group of teens and young adults who happen to traumatise a group of children once a month. Like they aren't trying to kill those children every time they meet, like it's a game. It's why MVA(manga at least, I stopped watching the anime) hits so hard, despite being the arc that focuses so much on the villains being humans with tragic stories who have emotions and problems it ironically returns the villain to the thing we as the community destroyed, by focusing so much on the human side of the villains it was able to give the subtle reminders that these people were villains because people were ignoring the neon signs screaming villain. It reinforced both halves of the villains ignoring the communities bastardization of them, unlike every other thing MHA does constantly trying to pander to the audience(not just MHA obvi) it gets annoying, I want to see the true telling of the story not the mutated grotesque one left from the pandering. In a way the fandom removed the human aspect to the story, this happens in a lot of anime and manga and I hate it. I love a good story, I hate when the story is destroyed because someone decided "I don't like that" so everyone collectively agreed it couldn't stay that way. When we stop the story from being told the writers have to change it and that change almost always ends in a messy train wreck of an ending. It doesn't help that in this case the writer is also part of the community while he was writing the story he started to like Bakugou, who in any other story would have been dismissed as a terrible character instead he kept trying to redeem bakugou at every turn without trying to fix Bakugou's behavior and despite that I would never want Bakugou to be dismissed from the story because even if I disagree and wholeheartedly despise Bakugou it is Horikoshi's story and I don't want him to change it. That's why fanfiction exists where changing the things the community sees as wrong is the entire point and the community can bastardize all they want but when you see where the canon changes because of popular fan theories causing the obviously laid out plan to change so the story wasn't predicted drives me insane it's why despite all the evidence people can kick up about AFO being Izuku's dad I don't think it's gonna happen because it was called out, everyone thought Dabi was Toyua seeking revenge but instead he's Toyua seeking approval and obsession because the story couldn't be predicted when the entire reason you lay out clues for the future of the story is so people can predict it and so it's not coming out of nowhere. The villains are the funny memes of the group playing video games together while still being the evil villains planning the murder of thousands of people for their own personal whims. If you remove the villain, it removes the hypocrisy of Toga who cries and mourns Twice saying "how dare the heroes the people meant to save do this" ignoring the tens if not hundreds she has personally killed on her own whims. It removes that distinct human aspect that only cares about things that affect them, the self centered hypocrisy at the core of every human that truly makes us understand the villains. Because that's the thing, the heroes for all the flaws the villains like to point out are meant to save the majority, the minority who become villains aren't their problem ironically letting them fall through and become a bigger problem gives the heroes more credit when they stop them and that is where the pro-heroes of MHA aren't heroes, they use the word but they are just superpowered police with fancy theatrics thrown in they don't embody the word hero because that's not what they are, it's a language difference spawned by a superpowered, for us hero means someone who saves people sometimes at a cost to themselves from the good of their heart but for them a hero is the same thing as a police officer, it's just a job while you can find heroes inside that line of work not every single one is a hero they are doing it for the fame and fortune and it leaves them with a feeling like they did something good at the end of the day because they keep civilians safe. I write too much, hope it was somewhat cohesive, bye!

@@honchkrowhoodlum7545 Maybe someday, for now I'm gonna stick to my rants by text for many reasons. If you want those reasons, proceed: First; to be fair it's less an overall dislike of my voice, though I have hated it in the past, and more a leftover dislike of my voice through recordings. I sound like a 9-10 year old despite being an adult and it's not me mishearing my voice because my friends have confirmed I sound different when they call compared to talking to me IRL, this compounds with the last problem. Second; when I rant IRL I get way more sidetracked than I did here, because this, as sidetracked as it is, is after a ton of editing to remove or end the side rants. And I know I won't end these if I'm speaking cause I have these same rants when I'm talking with my friends or family and a topic I like pops up because despite what some people could take from this rant, I do truly love MHA. One of my favorite things to do as a teen and even now when I visit my parents is me and my dad ranting about two different books or series, he'll go off on a rant about battle tech or the sword of truth while I explain the lore of Warhammer or MHA, neither of us remember half of the others rant because we were so focused on ranting but it is some of my favorite memories. Finally; I have a speech impediment that is fixed well enough for people to understand what I meant most of the time but still there and honestly with how strong it can get some days if you don't know me you will have no clue what I'm saying. I can't say s, th, and sometimes f all that well and I had to repeat myself like 5 times every time I spoke for most of my childhood so I just really don't like talking unless it's someone I know who more often then not will understand what I was saying even if I don't notice and half of what I'm saying is gibberish. This isn't the kind of speech impediment that can be fixed with special ed, the school tried, it's not like I have some misunderstanding of the letters, it's a problem with my mouth but that's enough on this subject. Essentially my voice is one of the few things I'm self conscious about for a number of reasons and I'm okay venting my rants through text for now.

Spinner to me, is like the main character of kick ass the comic version not the movie version The guy is a loser. And it’s just trying to pretend to be a super villain that’s the one thing I liked about his character. He was generally just the one person of the villain league who is not the whole philosophical crap he was a guy following someone else because he was a lonely loser and I like that it is a real perspective that we don’t have to be tragic or anything. We just have to be the most pathetic people who just wants to be part of anything it’s very human anything we gotfrom the entirety of the series

Spoilders for Villain arc (stuff that was cut from the anime): He probaly wouldn't, he dosen't really care about stains he's just empty and stain's ideology filled that void but he has the league for that now.

You made a really amazing analysis! I truly appreciate it! Thank you! 😊 It's really nice to see an video of Spinner, he is so underrated by the anime and the fandom, although he's one of the most complex characters. I don't understand the choices of the directors of the anime. They remove so much important parts that make the story deeper. I personally think that most of the members of the League see themselves as a sort of found family, because their bond is so strong and they don't have no one else.
