Ahem. Rings do gravity magic, sonic and friends are into skateboards and use gravity magic to go fast and do tight turns, robots want rings to summon robot god, this robot was just broken to begin with, eggman is kinda just chilling. So, basically just the dialogue and characters are different.

@@legoboy7107 Gravity ring makes robot leader of sort go haywire and start chasing the protagonists for their gravity rings. In this scene, the two gravity rings resonated or something and the robot exploded. Storm, who has one gravity ring here iirc, grabs the other gravity ring and heads back to Jet. Amy doesn't know anything so she has no reason to investigate. In the end, the gravity rings are just attracted to eachother, so that's "how" they explain the whole robots-chase-you-in-racing-game thematic of the main plot. The fan dub is on point.
