I watched "Between the Temples" because of your list and loved it! I loved the subjective camerawork -- like showing the protagonist's state of mind through the editing and cinematography. Very moving.

I’m glad I watched Ghostlight on a big screen at a festival, the whole audience was fully invested in the story and by the end almost everyone was in a very emotional state. Such a moving family drama! ❤

i watched between the temples because of your video. while i didn’t adore it as much as you did, i still respect it a lot and really enjoyed the cinematography and jason so so so much!! thank you for introducing it to me, it was a very sweet film.

For me most underseen movies of year for me in no order are Between the Temples, The Feeling That The Time For Doing Something Has Passed, This Closeness, Bird, We Grown Now, Janet Planet, and The Becomers. I also think for a studio comedy with a star as big as Ilana Glazer, Babes was super underappreciated. Not as underrated but as someone who has been waiting for Tina Mabry to make another movie I also loved that nostalgic 90s DVD feel from Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat

''Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World'' is probably my favorite documentary from last year and I literally haven't seen any KZbin channel talk about it. another underrated and over hated in my opinion is Horizon An American Saga part 1, ''Kneecap'' as well and lastly Avicii documentary ''I'm Tim''
@coldramenpokefreak10 сағат бұрын
I enjoyed Boys Go To Jupiter!!! Hopefully it gets some distribution soon as the theater was electric in my festival screening. Plus, another underrated film that should get some love is Riddle of Fire, banger coming-of-age film.

@thewhatness12 сағат бұрын
Saw My First Film on MUBI, and I was pretty taken with its commitment to the metanarrative, even if it gets sloppy, a bit overambitious, and blurs the lines too much for its own good (re: the last 15 minutes). Then again, who _wouldn't_ want their first film to be remembered with fondness and reverence? I'll have to see where Zia Anger goes from here.

I loved Universal Language - saw it at a film fest and it made my top 4 of the year - I think it actually reminded me more of Andersson (Roy) than Anderson (Wes) - especially with representing Quebec as a Soviet nation - the crying scene was pure Living Trilogy

Oh, Canada!'s reception has been hindered by its terrible distribution. if it had been pushed properly in the way that his last three have been -- i mean, LOOK at the cast for this one! elordi alone would put butts in seats. i fully believe the movie could have made money with the right distributor -- i think it would have been receieved more warmly. i'm in australia and there is literally zero indication as to when it will play here and its killing me. glad to hear your praise for it tho!

Still so sad to see that a movie like No Other Land can be so praised. It tip toes around any truly difficult conversations and only exists to attract sympathy for the Palestinians.
@bmck11247 сағат бұрын
Most underrated horror movie of the year is MadS. It's really unique take on the zombie genre, you're watching someone go through the zombification process all done in one continuous shot that literally follows them all over the town it's shot in. The director swears the movie was truly one singular 90 min take. It's a really impressive feat. There's also a couple really great performances in there as well.

Saw OH Canada and i think the themes of the film are too specific for my taste compared to films like first reformed and the card counter. Doesn't help that the reason why the main character leaves the US isn't clear until the end, so you just think he's a shitty guy and don't want to follow him that much. I liked the setup and some scenes where Richard Gere relives his own memories as his old self but even if it was intentional the plot just become ramblings and ramblings so it's a bit boring in the end
