Chum salmon fish and chips! - Mix corn starch and flour (ratio 1:1) and cold soda water for batter. - Cut chum fillet into small cubes. - Coat cubes with batter. - Deep fry until golden brown and enjoy! Ikura (roe) - Pour hot water on skeins of roe in a big bowl to separate eggs. - sort, clean and rinse all tiny skins/membranes off eggs. - Once clean, mix eggs with mirin and salt. - Cure overnight. - Serve with soy sauce and wasabi on hot rice, enjoy!

There not fun to watch ppl fishing. Only you having fun in the video. To get more views and growing your channel, you should share fishing spots to the viewers, viewers gonna share your videos if you do so. It's the win-win solution to grow your channel by growing viewers, fishing trip tours. You not gonna lose anything

@@AnhVloggHe's fishing the Vedder River in Chilliwack, BC. It's not a secret, he mentions where he's fishing in most of his videos. Anyone local to the area, which I'm guessing is half his audience, already knows where he is

That was one of your best videos ever. Very educational and well done. Nice of you to let Linda catch most of the fish. I surveyed and counted spawning salmon in streams and rivers for 40 years and never say half the density of spawners that you showed in that stream. We don't have chums in Southern Oregon but do have good runs in Northern Oregon. Those nutrients are so important to the success of spawners. We do haul and distribute hatchery salmon carcasses in our streams after spawning them, Thanks for educating your viewers. You and Linda and your families have a Happy New Year.

Watching you and Linda fish and explain about so many aspects of how these and other fish are part of the larger chain of life makes these videos even more compelling. I also appreciate how you show that a reasonable harvest is not a bad thing and how you return so many to make more for future generations. Thank you and may you and yours enjoy a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

the perfect vibe to unpack the vest and put away the salmon gear for the year while I watch. Great job demonstrating Outdoor Life in the PNW, fish, friendship, stewardship, amazing healthy foods, gratitude, learning and sharing~ And great editing I wish I could do more than clip the ends of a video lol. Have an amazing 2025 Rod, Linda Lee and your families

cool and funny video rod, for the process in curing the roe for consumption vs using the single eggs for bait, is the curing process the same? how long of a shelf life would the eggs have after curing?

I thought Pinks were the most under rated Pacific salmon. We love Chum! Hard to say which of the two is better for smoking. If you are baking Chum filets, baste with toasted sesame oil, salt & pepper and don't leave it in too long.

Want to catch them every cast?? Use prawn 🍤 fresh prawn from the grocer. Also cured work's. And tad of garlic if they're not biting like they should. I've gotten two hundred of those in a day. In prawn.

My stomach turns at white salmon meat. It's turning thinking about it but I would try it. I can feel my mouth water like I'm getting sick. Maybe not. I don't think I could adjust.

Great video. Linda… I do believe female salmon are called hens . I know males are bucks, and it’s confusing. But I believe the correct vernacular is hen. Everything you say is on the dot. Just for education , not for ridicule.
@FishingwithRod23 сағат бұрын
That really depends on the region. In this part of the world, females are more commonly known as does.

The smell is hard to take when fishing for fresh fish. It kinda feels like fishing in a sewer at times. Overwhelming .

chum salmon is often considered one of the worst tasting salmon. Is better off canning them😅
