I use a rubber door mat that costs a few pounds from a hardware shop, for my scroll saw to sit on, that would work too.

That's an ingenious idea to sand the mat in order to restore the texture after it starts getting a buildup of paint and lacquer on it! Glad you found something that works so well. I may give it a try!

Great idea! I use a section of foam carpet padding. When the work is done, I roll it up and store it away.

I use the drawer liner for kitchen drawers. It is the grid pattern non-adhesive kind. I've been using the same piece for years. I shake it off and go.
