Me also! Grew up.on homemade spaghetti sauce, so continue to make my Grandpa's sauce to this day!! Hard to not go with the best - and the delicious smell throughout the house as it simmers is a plus.

You CAN'T use a half cup of pesto ... Pesto is served in TABLESPOON increment, not CUP increments. It's VERY high in oil and cheese, it's not _meant_ to drown your pasta in.

I buy the store brand of Alfredo sauce. For spaghetti sauce, I buy Ragu and Hunts. I don't like other brands. I figure at my age, I'm gonna die eventually, so I'm gonna eat what I want. At least I'll die happy.

Try "Classico" it's not bad once you add some italian seasoning ,plus you get a reusable Mason jar 😉

Make your own marinara and pesto. It is easy, inexpensive and a lot healthier than jarred sauces.

My go to brand is my home made sauce (gravy). If you can cook you can make your own. But Rao's is by far the best in a jar.

Holy crap people, tomato sauce is one the easiest things to make from scratch. Buy San Marzano tomatoes, squish them in a bowl. Fry some garlic in olive oil, add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, fresh basil, teaspoon of sugar if tomatoes aren’t sweet enough, some oregano, cook low for 45 minutes. If you want thicker sauce add a can of tomato paste. Freezes well if you make a big batch. Look on line there are tons of websites from old Italian cooks (pasta grannies, buon-a-petitti, orsara recipes to name a few). You know what’s in your sauce and there are no additives.

High in saturated fat is good - it satiates and the fat has vital nutrients the body needs... cholesterol is a necessary nutrient, is made by the body if not enough is eaten and does NOT cause heart disease, the body doesn't "burn" food as does the oven "researchets use to find the calories in a substance, ans thetefore irrelevant. The crucial stats to look for are serving size, TOTAL carbs, added/hidden sugar, and seed oils/polyunsaturated fats (NOT "heart-healthy").

I never buy any pre-made sauces. I make mine, Alfredo and spaghetti sauces are very easy to make at home. All the jarred spaghetti sauces have sugar and it ruins the taste for me.

Sunflower oil is not found in traditional pesto sauce. Olive oil only!🫒🫒🫒 I will not purchase any pesto sauce that has any oil other than olive oil.

I have been making my own for over 45 years. It's not hard and tastes so much better. The main issue I have with store bought sauces is they're all sweet. Never could stand eating sweet spaghetti sauce. 😂

Raos marinara is about the best that's available at Walmart which is the only store I have. You majored on creamy sauces. I'd make my own before using jar alfredos or pestos.

@@annettespradlin4945 Hey Annette , Mark Watson here. My very first job (1973) was at Taco Bell. At that time the food was really good . I knew because I used to cook it. Heck, they still used lard in the beans (imagine that!) and they had an amazing taste. Sadly, since that time the fast food industry has gone seriously south. The cheapest ingredients are now used. Sugar and sodium levels are ratcheted up, minimum outlay and maximum profits seem to be the order of the day. It's a sad state of affairs, to say the least. My personal mantra: 'Good food ain't cheap,and cheap food ain't good ' Yours, M.V.W.
