For some mor fun context, this dude has a son who beat a chinese exchange student and then caused the student to run into the street and get hit by a car, and only served 18 months because he was a juvenile. Also, this dude's dad got arrested in the 80s for r**ing his stepdaughter 7 times. Then the dad got let off because going to prison would "disproportionately affect his family". Wild that this dude's entire family commited evil crimes and barely got punished and he goes around saying how unfair everything is.

There's a book called Inside the Criminal Mind by Stanton Samenow. Samenow is a clinical psychologist who studied how criminals think as a way to rehabilitate them. Everything is a "yeah, but" when they admit to their crimes. I think it would be interesting to listen to the podcast and compare it to the book because even the few clips you showed made it obvious that he hasn't changed.

@@meanjean3023I get the sense rules matter to him very deeply, and he seems obsessive and indeed bitter on this point with the way he calls out those who were glad he was gone, it’s palpable his rage that anyone around him didn’t adhere to his perceived authority and rules. Just like most garden variety bullies to sociopaths and dictators he loves HIS rules, society’s rules are irrelevant. He said it himself he’s an authoritarian. An authoritarian expects everyone in their orbit to follow and obey or hell heath no fury. If he was a leader in prison too, that’s how. The world should revolve around him and in accordance to his rules. Utterly deeply insecure and terrifying control freak. He’s even controlling this interview, he’s ensuring he’s controlling the narrative of his story so it’s told only through his lens in line with the rules of his world that we’re simply orbiting, and he’s menacingly expecting the other two to fall in line and not question it. Which they are doing but only because it’s glaringly obvious he’s deeply unhinged and a ticking time bomb. I’m dumbfounded as to how he was ever even considered as a candidate for the innocence project, let alone then deemed suitable as a spokesperson for it. From the very get go he’s giving off deeply disturbed psycho vibes, it’s not like he’s a clever manipulative covert narc, he’s overt as hell! For a man so deeply in need of control and to be viewed as a tough authoritarian figure, the paradox of course is that his entire shtick is dependent on being the persecuted victim with no control of his life or destiny. In order to avoid accountability as @jasonterschak points out, he’s trapped himself in a catch 22, which is kinda hilarious because it’s so pathetic. Pathetic sums him up perfectly. As you say, the other hypocrisy of his twisted mind is the rules and standards he expects others to adhere to for himself are the opposite of those he applies to his victims.

The way I took the stuff he was explaining throughout the 6:00 mark is that in the days when I (me) came up, you were taught to leave regular people alone because they didn't make the informed decision to do illegal things & face the consequences that came with it. Like, nowadays you'll even see grandmas getting robbed and thrown to the ground for their purse, which never would have flied back then. Or someone might steal a locked up $2,000 bike, but that is a far cry from pistol whipping people on a date, if you catch my drift (just as an example). As for what he says about his son, I think he wasn't explaining something most people take as obvious, which is that you can throw your life away from poorly thought out, split decisions to do something highly illegal. I don't know the story of this guy or his son, but I'm guessing everything with the Columbia student took 30 seconds, max, from beginning to end. The son probably thought he would get away with a quick armed robbery, only for it to become a murder before anyone could have done anything to save the Columbia student.

In my younger days (like teens) I hung out with some guys who had actually gone to prison - it’s hard to actually understand how good they are at manipulation. They will say stuff like “yeah you and me were so close back then”, and not thinking you’ll just accept that, but once you actually think about it you realize that you spoke to them a handful of times at that time. There are people whose whole plan is “how can I manipulate this person for my gain” and they are just incredibly gifted at doing it. I don’t hang around anyone that associates with these types of people or who actually are borderline criminals. They’re too good at it and it’s not worth the stress. There are people who absolutely cannot be saved by any person (you can always be saved by God)
@tcsprynce57486 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I hate to say it but the majority of people that go to prison for extended periods of time will never be reformed. They did something horrendous because they are bad people at their core.
