This is one of the worst ways to die, cause there’s nothing you can do about it. You can’t go around the fire, and you can’t just stand and wait for it to stop either. If it’s blowing fire, you’re always gonna lose, and there’s no way to prevent it. And OF COURSE it only always ever happens when I have the best possible times. Like the 2.58 you see in this video. All I needed to do was hit the time crates on the 9.01, and I wouldn’t have to worry about this anymore. I’m so unbelievably mentally drained from the constant failure.

Hmm, that's a shame, 2:58 was top. However, the problem is solvable.) You didn't have enough Aku mask to get through the fire. You need to get it somewhere. Where? 1. Start the playthrough with two Aku masks at once. Which is what I usually do.) 2. Or get the mask in the middle of the red nitros at the beginning of the level. Try both options)

My best was 2:48 actually. I appreciate your help, but this is rather common knowledge to me now. I’ll explain why this situation was unavoidable: So at the start of the level, I have 2 aku aku’s. I must sacrifice the first one on some nitro crates which explodes a time crate. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the most optimal way to hit that time crate, because it wastes little to no time. I regain my second aku aku right before the pit segment you see at the very beginning of the video. But I must immediately sacrifice it again to damage boost across the pit. Finally, I must sacrifice my last aku aku on the TNT at 0:06. So using the only strategy that’s fast enough to get sub 9, there is unfortunately no known way to have an extra aku at the fire.
